When they say old is gold, it is this movie and if I am being honest, I have not watched another movie or series like this in the same category so if you have seen this and know of any other movie or series that you think beats the originals, I will be happy to see it. The Originals was one of such series I never really understood its beginning, especially because I had not watched The Vampire Diaries. Well, now that I know I am watching them side by side and to be honest it is thrilling. Normally The Originals should have come first, but the vampire diaries was produced first and had some of the faces a lot might not understand in The Originals. If you love vampire stories and you have not watched the originals then I wonder what you have been watching because this is one of the best I have come across. I am not one to easily get emotions from watching a series, but I did with this one apart from The game of thrones series at least.

The Originals tells the story of the very first Vampire family. This was no ordinary Family, a family that has been existing for over 1000 years is not a family to mess with. This wasn’t the family giving birth for generations or holding power over people for a thousand years, it was a family of seven who literally lived for 1000 years. In season 1 there were a lot of things that really got me, and watching it just made me realize one thing, the hero is not always good. Klaus who happened to be the protagonist is a merciless vicious vampire who would do anything to get what he wants and does not care about anyone or that is what he makes people believe. Unlike other members of his family who are original Vampires, Klaus is an original hybrid, part vampire, and part werewolf. His existence made him hunted by his own father and challenged by almost every member of his family. The father sees him as a product of his mother’s betrayal and hates him for it.

I will call Klaus unstable also, because that guy is a lot. The only person that has his back is his elder brother Elijah. For reasons I do not know, Elijah seems to stand by Klaus no matter what he does or who he kills. In this season one Klaus had sent Elijah and Rebecca his little sister to sleep with a Knife to the heart because they disobeyed him, He had kept them in that state for almost 100 years before they got out. Since almost nothing natural can kill them, he gives them that sleep as punishment, then he went to Orleans where he learnt he was going to be a Father. This was hard to believe because Vamipers for all their powers can not procreate. But it showed that Klaus was different. His werewolf gene did not just make him stronger than the rest of his family, but also special in the sense that he could procreate. This realization changed him from being a merciless vicious man into being an overprotective father.

He also had a step son named Marcel who he saved and trained as a child when he came to Orleans for the first time 300 years ago. After running away for so long from his father he came to discover that Marcel had taken over Orleans which was his kingdom back in the days and this made him jealously wanting to take it back. The revelation of his daughter made him affirm his stance which brought him to war against his step son and the vampires of Orleans. But they could not kill him even if they wanted to because if they did, a lot of vampires will die as killing an original vampire equals killing those whom they have sired. The birth of Klaus’s daughter also changed him more in the series, finally he had a reason to live and a life to protect but then he also had an even more dangerous weapon at hand, his daughter, part witch, part vampire, and part werewolf.
