Hello to everyone in this community, I hope everyone is doing well. When it comes to miniseries, The Pacific, is one that has surprised me in recent times. If you have ever read some of my reviews, you can tell that war and World War II genre productions are among my favorites and even more so when it is based on a true story, as is the case of the series I am going to talk about today.

The Pacific is a 2010 miniseries, which was directed by Timothy Van Patten, Jeremy Podeswa, Carl Franklin, David Nutter, Tony To and Graham Yost, where I guess each of them worked on different chapters. In addition, it is important to mention that among the executive directors we find the famous filmmaker Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, where in this production we can see the hand of these two greats of the world of film and television. The genre of this production is war, as it is set in World War II, and it is based on real events, so it has an extra plus to learn more about what was this war.

Además, es importante comentar que entre los directores ejecutivos encontramos al famoso cineasta Steven Spielberg y Tom Hanks, donde en esta producción se ve la mano de estos dos grandes del mundo del cine y la televisión. El género de esta producción es bélico, ya que está ambientado en la Segunda Guerra Mundial, además que es basada en hechos reales, así que tiene un plus extra para conocer más sobre lo que fue esta guerra.

As I said before, this miniseries is set in World War II, specifically in what was known as the Pacific theater, where the United States had a great struggle with Japan for the control of the region. The main purpose of this story is to show what the protagonists went through in each of the scenarios where very bloody battles took place. But this is not only to see the loss of many men, but also all the calamities that happened, affecting the lives of each of the men who were in the Second World War.

The miniseries has 10 chapters with an approximate duration of 50 minutes each, a little more or a little less. One of the things that most attracted me to this series is the fact that the story was centered on how different men lived this moment. That is, the series is seen through the eyes of several young, inexperienced Marines who had their lives ahead of them and I'm pretty sure they were affected for those who made it out alive. The plot shows us how difficult a war is, all that the protagonists go through, on both sides of the conflict, even though The Pacific was centered on the U.S. Marines.

La miniserie cuenta con 10 capítulos con una duración aproximada de cada uno de 50 minutos, un poco más o un poco menos. Una de las cosas más que más me atrajo de esta serie es el hecho que la historia estaba centrada en como vivieron este momento diferentes hombres. The Pacific miniseries is very well done, from beginning to end. It may not be perfect, it may not be interesting for all audiences, but at least for those of us who like the war genre, to learn more about World War II, it is very attractive. This production is at the level of Finding Private Ryan, Pearl Harbor, Fury, even the same man, among others. But being a series, there is more time to show more of the stories. In the first episode we see how these men are at expectations, with the fear of the unknown and never having been in a war, not knowing what awaits them. The suspense of the first and second episode gives the miniseries a greater appeal.

La miniserie The Pacific está muy bien hecho, de principio a fin. Puede que no sea perfecta, que no sea interesante para todo el público, pero al menos para aquellos que nos gusta el género bélico, conocer más de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, es muy atractiva. Esta producción está al nivel de Buscando al soldado Ryan, Pearl Harbor, Fury, hasta el mismo hombre, entre otras más. Pero al ser una serie, hay mayor tiempo para mostrar más de las historias. En el primer capítulo vemos como estos hombres están a las expectativas, con el miedo de lo desconocido y de nunca haber estado en una guerra, sin saber lo que les espera. El suspense del primer y segundo episodio le da una mayor atractivo a la miniserie.

I am someone who likes to watch documentaries about the First and Second World War, so I think this series adapts very well what is known and more with the stories told by soldiers who were at the site. I must say that the plot involves us, we see moments of happiness, where the soldiers share with each other, but also most of it is living the fear of dying, seeing the deaths of their compatriots, going hungry, thirsty, being in a bad condition, even suffering from the worst diseases. The Pacific shows us the impact of the Pacific Theater and the different scenarios where these men risked their lives for their country.

Soy alguien que le gusta ver documentales sobre la Primera y Segunda Guerra Mundial, así que creo que esta serie adapta muy bien lo que se sabe y más con las historias contadas por soldados que estuvieron en el sitio. The cast of this miniseries was very well chosen, where I can highlight the work of James Badge Dale as Robert Leckie who is the story of this story seen from his eyes, from his perspective and from what he lived, according to his testimonies. We also have the participation of Rami Malek, an actor who shows the personality that the soldiers had in the war with the Japanese due to all the atrocities they lived through. Additionally, we have other actors who did a great job, both main and secondary, with greater and lesser participation in the story.

El reparto de esta miniserie estuvo muy bien elegido, donde puedo destacar el trabajo de James Badge Dale como Robert Leckie quien está historia de esta vista desde sus ojos, desde su perspectiva y por lo vivido por él, de acuerdo a sus testimonios. También tenemos la participación de Rami Malek, un actor que muestra la personalidad que tenían los soldados en la guerra con los japoneses debido a todas las atrocidades que vivieron. The photography was in charge of Remi Adefarasin and Stephen F. Windon, who did a great job. What I also loved about the miniseries was the setting, it was very well adapted to the period (1939-1945), where the Pacific islands, where the most atrocious fights of World War II took place, were very well represented, both in costumes, as well as the place itself. Also to highlight the special effects, especially in the moments in the battlefield, with gunshots, bombings, among many others. Many scenes and their sequences were really impressive, even at times we can get into the story, as if we were in the place. We can go from funny moments, to those that are marked in the lives of people and not exactly for the better.

Lo que también me encantó de la miniserie fue la ambientación, estuvo muy bien adaptada a la época (1939-1945), donde las islas del pacífico, donde se dieron las luchas más atroces de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, fueron muy bien representadas, tanto en vestuario, como el lugar en sí. También destacar los efectos especiales, más que todo en los momentos en el campo de batalla, con los disparos, bombardeos, entre muchas más. Realmente muchas escenas y las secuencias de las mismas fueron impactantes, incluso por momentos podemos adentrarnos en la historia, como que si estuviésemos en el lugar. Podemos pasar de momentos divertidos, hasta aquellos que quedan marcados en las vidas de las personas y no precisamente para bien.

The Pacifi is a miniseries that I liked from beginning to end, even the introduction that very little we want to see, I loved, one of the best beginnings I've seen in series of this style, with a great background theme that gave me a glimpse that I was going to enjoy the production and I must say that it was so. The soundtrack, very well, showed us the moments of Augustine that each of the men shown in the series went through and all the terror that they lived. Overall a series without waste, very well done and that I was glad to see. Without a doubt I recommend The Pacific, an HBO miniseries that is worth it and from my humble opinion is a 10/10. Remember that this is a personal opinion, according to my experience as an end user (viewer), each person may have a different opinion.

The Pacific es una miniserie que me gustó de principio a fin, incluso la introducción que muy poco queremos ver, me encantó, uno de los mejores inicios que he visto en serie de este estilo, con un gran tema de fondo que me dio a entrever que iba a disfrutar bastante de la producción y debo decir que fue así. La banda sonora, muy bien, nos mostraba los momentos de Agustín que pasaban cada uno de los hombres mostrados en la serie y todo el terror que estos vivieron. En general una serie sin desperdicio, muy bien trabajo y que me dio gusto ver. Sin lugar a dudas les recomiendo The Pacific, una miniserie de HBO que vale la pena y desde mi humilde opinión es un 10/10. Recordar que esta es una opinión personal, de acuerdo a mi experiencia vivida como usuario final (espectador), cada persona puede tener una opinión distinta.

"The story belongs to the one who tells it", is a well-known saying and in this critically acclaimed series directed by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks we are shown a side of World War II where the United States confronted the great Japanese Empire. It is true that when this event is studied at an educational level one learns important details, my children last year took a look at this important event in the history of mankind and I take the opportunity to do so through this series that I find quite interesting.

Although it was released in 2010, this series remains relevant due to the subject it deals with, the war, and as we all know, war always teaches us a little more about this reality so unknown to us. As a man it has always crossed my mind what soldiers think about when they enlist, and not only that but when they are in that place facing death face to face.

It is one thing to go to war, another to fight it and a different one to survive it, these are stages that these people go through and everyone is in some of them. Cases have been known where survivors fall into insanity some time later, others manage to adapt to civilian life while the most unfortunate cannot leave the battlefield and like an addiction continue fighting until they die defending their country.

“La historia es del que la cuenta”, es un dicho bastante conocido y en esta serie aclamada por la crítica y dirigida por Steven Spielberg y Tom Hanks se nos muestra una cara de la segunda guerra mundial donde los Estados Unidos de enfrentaron al gran imperio japonés. Es cierto que cuando se estudia este evento a nivel educativo uno conoce detalles importantes, mis niños el año pasado dieron un vistazo a este importante evento en la historia de la humanidad y yo aprovecho para hacerlo a través de esta serie que me parece bastante interesante.

Si bien fue estrenada en el año 2010, esta serie mantiene su vigencia debido al tema que trata, la guerra, y como todos sabemos, lo bélico siempre nos enseña un poco más acerca de esta realidad tan desconocida para nosotros. Como hombre siempre me ha pasado por la cabeza en que pensaran los soldados cuando se alistan, y no solo eso sino cuando están en dicho lugar enfrentando la muerte cara a cara.

Una cosa es ir a la guerra, otra lucharla y una más diferente el sobrevivirla, son etapas que estas personas viven y todos se encuentran en algunas de ellas. Se han conocido casos donde los sobrevivientes caen en la locura tiempo después, otros logran adaptarse a la vida civil mientras que los más desafortunados no pueden dejar el campo de batalla y como una adicción continúan luchando hasta que mueren defendiendo a su país.

What I like about this series is how the authors of the series take us to those moments of drama, enjoyment, fear and pain that the soldiers live, it is not only epic shootings and deaths or massacres, there are lives involved, human beings killing each other, have you ever thought what goes through their minds, it is interesting but here in The Pacific we can learn a little about it, the post battle scenes bring reflection to the mind of the viewer.

If you had children who wanted to go to war, how would you feel about them enlisting? Or if you were a soldier, what would you think when you arrived at the place of concentration? These two perspectives are addressed in the series, and not only that but we can also see cruel and painful scenes for either side.

In war there are no good guys or bad guys, just soldiers fighting someone else's battle, that's how it is, but the most impressive thing about it is the ability to kill another human being for no particular reason, just because it's a war, even though there is the maxim that if you don't kill the enemy you will be eliminated by him. At this point I can understand why many do not like to watch war series or movies, but I think that beyond the taste it is necessary to see these productions to get an idea of that reality and if we are parents take advantage to teach our children about it.

Lo que me gusta de esta serie es como los autores de la misma nos trasladan a esos momentos de drama, de disfrute, de temor y de dolor que viven los soldados, no solo son disparos y muertes épicas o masacres, hay vidas involucradas, seres humanos matándose unos a los otros, ¿te has puesto a pensar que pasa por sus mentes?, es interesante pero aquí en The Pacific podemos aprender un poco al respecto, las escenas post batalla taren reflexión a la mente del espectador.

Si tuvieras hijos que quisieran ir a la guerra ¿cómo te sentirías al saber que se enlistaran? O si fueras un soldado, ¿Qué pensarías al llegar al lugar de concentración? Estas dos perspectivas se abordan en la serie, y no solo eso sino que también podemos ver escenas crueles y dolorosas para cualquiera de ambos bandos.

En la guerra no hay buenos ni malos, solo soldados que pelean la batalla de alguien más, es así, pero lo más impresionante de esto es la capacidad de matar a otro ser humano sin ninguna razón particular, solo porque es una guerra, aunque esta la máxima de que si no matas al enemigo serás eliminado por él. En este punto puedo entender porque a muchos no les gusta ver series o películas bélicas, pero pienso que más allá del gusto es necesario ver estas producciones para tener una idea de esa realidad y si somos padres aprovechar para enseñar a nuestros niños al respecto.

That's how deep is the plot that accompanies this story, so I encourage you to watch it as I'm sure you will enjoy it regardless of whether you like war or not.

I want to conclude my review under the premise that despite the depth of the story is only a glimpse of that reality, the truth is that we can never know the true horrors of war as long as we are not in it, but it is to acclaim the work done by the directors because they brought us very close to it. I definitely recommend it, but on the other hand I regret that as human beings we have such an unpleasant history loaded with "senseless" deaths for a cause that could have been avoided, so was the second world war, and that is the point where the authors of it want us to get.

Hablando un poco más de la serie, son 10 capítulos cargados de mucha emoción y nostalgia, es clase aparte por decirlo de alguna manera, hay una escena que me hizo meditar mucho y fue cuando un sargento gano una medalla del más alto prestigio por salvar muchas vidas, lo enviaron a casa, algo que no se esperaba, y su reacción fue algo muy “normal” – no se quería ir – y aunque parezca ilógico es totalmente entendible ya que dejaría a su batallón con quien arriesgo su vida en batallas anteriores, ¿tú que harías? Así de profunda es la trama que acompaña esta historia, por lo cual les animo a verla ya que estoy seguro que la disfrutaran más allá de que les guste lo bélico o no.

Quiero concluir mi reseña bajo la premisa de que a pesar de la profundidad de la historia es solo un vistazo a esa realidad, la verdad es que jamás podremos saber los verdaderos horrores de una guerra mientras no estemos en ella, pero es de aclamar el trabajo que hicieron los directores porque nos acercaron mucho a ella. Definitivamente la recomiendo, pero por otro lado lamento que como seres humanos tengamos una historia tan desagradable cargada de muertes “sin sentido” por una causa que pudo ser evitada, así fue la segunda guerra mundial, y es el punto donde los autores de la misma nos quieren hacer llegar.
