Charlie Brown is back! So is Snoopy! And Woodstock! Lucy and Linus! Peppermint Patty and Marcy! Well, let's say the whole gang is here. This is the first computer animated feature film starring the Peanuts gang and the first feature since the death of Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz.

This is charming, my new favourite word I guess. The animation manages to be fully modern CG while capturing what was brilliant about Schulz's original art.

There are two stories in those film. The first is Charlie Brown trying to get the Little Red-haired Girl to notice him. The second story is the adventures of Snoopy as he battles the Red Baron. These threads are just an excuse to showcase a series of vignettes as Charlie tries different things to get the Little Red-haired Girl's positive attention, a sort of "best of" of the Charlie Brown comics and shows.

It works. The Charlie Brown neuroses almost overpowers him every time but he also reveals different aspects of his character which is both very endearing and positive.

The Snoopy vs. The Red Baron stuff does not work nearly as well. I kept wishing they would get back to Charlie Brown's story. Where Snoopy interacts with the kids are great but his own fantasy world isn't all that exciting despite having actual action scenes.

    It is worth the watch.
