Ovvi vi porto nella mente di Ryan Murphy ed in uno dei suoi millemila lavori. Nello specifico parliamo di The Politician, serie Netflix di cui qui vi parlo in anteprima.

Ci sono autori divisivi (termine di "Montiana" memoria) ed altri molto polarizzanti. Apparentemente saremmo portati a pensare che divisivi e polarizzanti appartengano alla stessa categoria ed invece cosi non è. I primi "spaccano" il pubblico creando una netta separazione non a-prioristica nei giudizi degli spettatori. I secondi invece generano una sorta di tifo intorno alle sue opere, con fan devoti ed hater altrettanto determinati. In questo caso la spaccatura è ancora più evidente ma è appunto una demarcazione pregiudizievole come quella che trovereste tra tifosi del Milan e dell'Inter fra Trumpiani e Obamiani. Ryan Murphy è un autore che appartiene senza dubbio alla seconda categoria, soprattutto dopo la firma di un faraonico contratto con Netflix. The Politician è la prima delle numerose serie che Murphy produrra per Netflix e nel giugno del 2020 è tornata con una seconda stagione.
C'è da premettere che la prima stagione non era stata accolta molto favorevolmente. Ci si aspettava di più o forse altro, dimenticandosi che Ryan Murphy è Ryan Murphy e va compreso, accettato e analizzato per quello che è e vuole essere. La sua carriera ha dimostrato quanto coraggio e quanta convinzione ci fosse nei suoi lavori. E' riuscito a costruire uno stile riconoscibile e personale, ad ispirare il cambiamento mettendo al centro temi sempre molto rischiosi ma che lui ha saputo sdoganare. Basti pensare al fatto che una sua serie, Pose, sia stata la prima ad affidare un ruolo da protagonista ad una donna transgender. La poetica di Murphy ci indica la strada e non può farci giudicare negativamente dei suoi prodotti solo perchè non ci piace quello che la sua poetica vuole mostrarci. Spazio alle diversità, colori vivaci, ritmo incalzante, personaggi sopra le righe, trame piegate al servizio del messaggio e non viceversa. Da Glee a Hollywood, da American Horror Story a Feud, passando per quel capolavoro di American Crime Story, il Murphy pensiero, pur nella sua ecletticità ruota intorno a questi pilastri, e non sarebbe di certo stato un contratto plurimilionario ad abbatterli. E cosi anche The Politician ci ha mostrato altre sfaccettature di uomini e donne, ragazzi in cerca d'autore. Fieri della propria sessualità, ambiziosi, in fuga dalle convinzioni. Payton Hobart è il protagonista ma come sempre anche quest'opera è molto corale. Payton è un giovane con un sogno molto, molto ingombrante: diventare presidente degli Stati Uniti d'America. Un sogno che è determinato ad inseguire, partendo dalla presidenza del college per passare a più adulte sfide, come quella per un posto al Senato, distretto di New York. Qui si imbatterà con una donna imbattuta da 30, Dede Standish, per nulla preoccupata da un rookie come lui. Di per se la sfida fra i 2 non risulta avvincente, perchè decisamente poco realistica, ma ancora una volta sono i tanti piccoli messaggi a fare la differenza e a calamitare l'attenzione dello spettatore. E cosi in soli 7 episodi, peraltro molto brevi, Murphy riesce a trasmetterci tantissima energia e lo fa attraverso l'entusiasmo dei suoi giovani interpreti, mossi da una sfrenata ambizione, è vero, ma anche pronti a lottare per quello che davvero conterebbe oggi sulla scena politica.

Obviously I bring you in the mind of Ryan Murphy and in one of his thousands of works. Specifically we talk about The Politician, Netflix series of which here I speak in preview.

There are divisive authors (a term of "Montiana" memory) and others very polarizing. Apparently we would be inclined to think that divisive and polarizing belong to the same category, but it is not so. The former "split" the public by creating a clear separation not a-priority in the judgments of viewers. The latter, on the other hand, generate a sort of cheering around his works, with devoted fans and equally determined haters. In this case the split is even more evident but it's just a prejudicial demarcation like the one you would find between Milan and Inter Milan fans between Trumpians and Obamians. Ryan Murphy is an author who undoubtedly belongs to the second category, especially after signing a huge contract with Netflix. The Politician is the first of several series that Murphy will produce for Netflix and in June 2020 returned with a second season.
It must be said that the first season was not very well received. It was expected more or maybe something else, forgetting that Ryan Murphy is Ryan Murphy and should be understood, accepted and analyzed for what it is and wants to be. His career has shown how much courage and how much conviction there was in his works. He has managed to build a recognizable and personal style, to inspire change by focusing on themes that are always very risky but that he has been able to clear customs. Just think of the fact that one of his series, Pose, was the first to give a leading role to a transgender woman. Murphy's poetics show us the way and cannot make us judge his products negatively just because we don't like what his poetics wants to show us. Space for diversity, bright colors, fast pace, characters over the top, plots bent to serve the message and not vice versa. From Glee to Hollywood, from American Horror Story to Feud, passing through that masterpiece American Crime Story, Murphy's thought, even in its eclecticism, revolves around these pillars, and it certainly wouldn't have been a multi-million dollar contract to knock them down. And so even The Politician has shown us other facets of men and women, boys in search of an author. Proud of their sexuality, ambitious, running away from convictions. Payton Hobart is the main character but as always this work is very choral. Payton is a young man with a very, very big dream: to become president of the United States of America. A dream that is determined to pursue, starting from the college presidency to move on to more adult challenges, such as that for a seat in the Senate, New York district. Here he will run into a woman undefeated by 30, Dede Standish, not at all worried by a rookie like him. In itself, the challenge between the 2 is not compelling, because it is decidedly unrealistic, but once again are the many small messages to make a difference and to attract the attention of the viewer. And so in just 7 episodes, which are also very short, Murphy manages to convey a lot of energy and does so through the enthusiasm of its young interpreters, moved by an unbridled ambition, it is true, but also ready to fight for what really counts today on the political scene.
