   Waking up to realize that for the next twenty-four hours there will be no rules guiding the world whatsoever is something I would never wish for. I can't even start imagining what the world would be like when those twenty-four hours are over. _source I have always thought that it is impossible for a world without rules to exist but then, pondering on this made me remember an American movie franchise I watched some years back. This movie franchise portrayed a crime free America in the near future.

   It was all about a day declared as an annual national holiday in which all crimes becomes decriminalized for a period of 12 hours. Isn't this a clear example of a country without a law? If you are yet to see the movie franchise "The Purge", I would recommend you see it.

   Just as it was in "The Purge", a lot of damages were done in just 12 hours. So many persons lost their lives, wives became widows, and children became orphans. Houses were burnt down and relationships were broken. That's how bad it was. Can we now imagine what will happen in 24 hours?

   People would do whatever they want without any fear if there are no rules. They can easily take your car from you if they want a car. They can ignore the traffic lights and speed limits if they want to get to anywhere in a hurry. They would simply pull out their guns and shoot you if they don't like you for any reason. Should they like the house you are living, they would simply move in and kick you out. Gangs and robbers would rule by threat of violence in such cases.

   A world without rules is synonymous to a class without a teacher, it's just going to be in a pathetic state one can’t imagine. However, I feel that if such happens, then the following will be the outcome.

   Pandemonium and Lawlessness.

   _source Humans need rules to be civilized. It has being demonstrated by Humans in several occasions that without rules, they can never be civilised. So without these rules, there will literally be pandemonium and lawlessness in the world. This world might end up being burnt to the ground if care is not taken.

   Anarchy

   _source Anarchy is the absence of law. In a world where laws are absent, the strongest get what they want while the rest people get the left overs or get killed in the process.

   Violence

   _source In a world without rules, there would be an unspeakable and unstoppable violence since everyone will try to claim ownership and dominance over every domain they lay their hands on. To cement this dominance, they would terrorize every other person in that domain just to make sure it becomes theirs.

   The consequences of a world without rules can never be overlooked since it will always be obvious. I wouldn't want such to happen and that's why I would always pray such doesn't come to pass.

   Hello cinephile friends, attending the contest of the CineTv community, about our favorite scary movie, I want to say that I love horror movies, but for some reason it has been difficult for me to choose a favorite, I have seen many good and bad movies, but I feel that there is not one that has marked me in such a way that I assume as my favorite, I have several favorites, I could talk about The Cube, The Conjuring saga, Mama, Julia's Eyes, In the Tall Grass, Get out, Shutter, The Uninvited. However, I don't want to talk to you about any of these, but about "The Purge 2: Anarchy" a movie which action and horror I enjoyed greatly, even though it is not a horror movie at its finest nor is it epic.

First the situation of the 3 groups of people is established, their encounter in which they are rescued, the search for a shelter to organize themselves and take each one their own way, the escape from the chaos inside the shelter, the kidnapping of our protagonists by rich people to make them fight in a kind of arena, in a hunting game of the higher classes, the elimination of the rich kidnappers in the battle arena, and later the act of revenge of our protagonist for the death of his son. Everything is perfectly connected, giving no room for filler scenes and no moments of tedium.

   Lo que más me atrapó de este film es su fluido desarrollo de la trama, es una trama sencilla llena de acción y sangre que te mantiene enfocado en lo que está sucediendo en el momento, cada etapa del desarrollo te mantiene en suspenso, son 3 historias que se convierten en una sola. Primero se establece la situación de los 3 grupos de personas, su encuentro en el que son rescatados, la búsqueda de un refugio para organizarse y tomar cada quien su camino, el escape del caos dentro del refugio, el secuestro de nuestros protagonistas por gente rica para hacerlos luchar en una especie de arena, en un juego de cacería de las clases más altas, la eliminación de los ricos secuestradores en la arena de batalla, y posteriormente el acto de venganza de nuestro protagonista por la muerte de su hijo. Todo está perfectamente conectado, sin dar espacio a escenas de relleno y ni momentos de tedio.

   La aparición de individuos sanguinarios enmascarados, que disparan armas de alto calibre, crean un ambiente de terror, acción y suspenso, no sabes en que momento aparece un lunático disparando a diestra y siniestra, carros blindados con metralletas automáticas manipuladas por grotescos enmascarados se pasean la ciudad exterminando al que se cruce en su camino. Y por supuesto no pueden faltar los que saltan desde un rincón con armas blancas para una pelea cuerpo a cuerpo. La ciudad se vuelve un completo caos, y estar en la calle es casi una muerte segura. Te hace imaginar cómo sería vivir un evento como ese, y en mi caso estaría completamente perdido.

   El futuro distopico que se plantea en este film me parece sumamente interesante y una especie de revelación de los planes de las elites mundiales, que buscan las mil y unas formas para mostrarnos a través del entretenimiento parte de su agenda. Bien, probablemente no veremos algo como el día de La Purga en la vida real, aunque seguramente cosas similares suceden en el mundo sin que salgan a la luz pública, y peor aún las guerras como la que vivimos actualmente entre Rusia y Ucrania, pero a lo que me refiero es a los planes de reducción de la población con diferentes propósitos, ya sea por cuestiones económicas o de cambio climático. Es algo que ya no parece solo una teoría de conspiración, pues existen documentos del Fondo Monetario Internacional que sugieren la conveniencia de la reducción poblacional.

   He visto varias películas y series de antes del 2019 en las que se habla de una pandemia, incluso del coronavirus, parece que a través de la industria del entretenimiento hacen programación mental para que algunas cosas no nos resulten tan ajenas cuando suceden y la aceptación sea más fácil. Tal vez no es tan descabellado imaginar que un futuro dentro de unos 100 años, establezca un día de purga en algún país.

La medalla de oro se la lleva sin lugar a dudas la segunda entrega que muestra lo peor de lo peor con ciudadanos de diferentes estatus sociales haciendo las peores abominaciones, nos da ese caos absoluto y de gente cometiendo los mayores actos desagradables.

   Si bien todas presentan la misma trama de una noche en la que todo es legal suele presentar un tema dentro de la misma purga: The Purge nos lleva a una familia en su casa los cuales son invadidos por purgadores, esa poca exploración la hace una de las más sosas, The Purge: Anarchy no tiene un escenario determinado puesto que se exploran diferentes situaciones y diferentes personas locas de diversas formas siendo que es la que mejor que desarrolla ese concepto de anarquía y suspenso en todo momento, como también presenta la primera oposición a la purga, The Purge: Election Year manifiesta las acciones de los individuos en contra de la purga agotando todos sus recursos para de manera legal poder eliminar la purga y por supuesto que los aficionados a esta no querrán que la eliminen, si bien la oposición es excelente ya no se siente con la misma presencia como en la segunda entrega, The First Purge es una de las más aburridas puesto que se enfoca en dar respuestas a cosas olvidando ese factor de suspenso e impactante, The Forever Purge ya representa el caos total debido al interés de tener una anarquía permanente en el país, solamente existe crudeza y caos absoluto manifestando esa guerra.

   The characters are mere tools to express the despair and desire to survive of normal individuals in this nightmare context. That is why there is no film in the saga that does it better than another since they all follow the same course by presenting characters with the same desire but in different social strata, so no kind of evolution or personality is presented, only people define doing everything possible to survive and make yours survive.

   Los personajes son meras herramientas para manifestar la desesperación y deseo de sobrevivir de los individuos normales ante este contexto de pesadilla. Por ello no existe una película de la saga que lo haga mejor que otra cuesto que todas siguen el mismo rumbo al presentar personajes con el mismo deseo pero en diferentes estratos sociales, por lo que no se presenta ninguna clase de evolución ni personalidad defina solo gente haciendo lo posible por sobrevivir y lograr que los suyos sobrevivan.

   The saga of The purge has ups and downs between its different films but all to a greater or lesser extent manage to have that dose of chaos but also all are very entertaining and recommended. I will rate each film separately and the sum of its results will give the rating of the saga in general, the ratings would be as follows: The Purge 3,5 stars out of 7, The Purge: Anarchy 4,5 stars out of 7, The Purge: Election Year and The Forever Purge 4 stars out of 7, and finally The First Purge with 3 stars out of 7. All this gives the saga a total of 4 stars out of 7. An incredible saga which perfectly represents how unhinged they can get to be humans showing the worst of the worst, highly recommended being that its less capable exponents are still absolutely enjoyable.

   La saga de The purge tiene altibajos entre sus diferentes películas pero todas en mayor o menor medida logran tener esa dosis de caos pero igualmente todas son muy entretenidas y recomendables. Calificare cada película por separado y la sumatoria de sus resultados dará la calificación de la saga en general, las calificaciones quedarían así: The Purge 3,5 estrellas de 7, The Purge: Anarchy 4,5 estrellas de 7, The Purge: Election Year y The Forever Purge 4 estrellas de 7, y por último The First Purge con 3 estrellas de 7. Todo esto le da un total a la saga de 4 estrellas sobre 7. Una saga increíble la cual representa de manera perfecta lo desquiciados que pueden llegar a ser los humanos mostrando lo peor de lo peor, altamente recomendable siendo que sus exponentes menos capaces aún son absolutamente disfrutables.

   My dear internet travelers here comes another wonderful post, to tell you that I loved reviewing a complete saga but as it takes a long time, do not expect me to do it very often (Or yes, we will see jajajaja) If you liked it I would appreciate if you could express it by voting positively, leaving a comment and following me.    Yesterday afternoon I saw a post by @nameless16, participating in a horror movie review contest promoted by the user @wiseagent. This caught my attention, as I'm a big fan of the genre, and while, I have many movies to review, I've decided on this one below. The contest is in its first week, though I think I'm treading on the time line. I hope my review will be accepted. If you'd like to participate, I'll leave the contest launch post here. It's very simple and the subject matter is very good.

Esto me llamó la atención, ya que soy gran fanático del género, y si bien, tengo muchas películas que comentar, he decidido por esta a continuación. El concurso va por su primera semana, aunque creo que estoy pisando la raya del tiempo. Espero que mi reseña sea aceptada.    The Purge, is an American horror thriller released in 2013. It was directed by James DeMonaco, who has directed the rest of the franchise, and produced by Michael Bay through production companies: Blumhouse Productions, Platinum Dunes and Why Not Productions. It starred Ethan Hawke as James Sandin, Lena Headey as Mary Sandin, Edwin Hodge as Dwayne and Rhys Wakefield as The Lead Purgator. The film was distributed by Universal Pictures, running 85 minutes.

   Synopsis

   In a dystopian future, where a totalitarian government calling itself: New Founding of America's Fathers assumes control over the United States after the fall of the Democratic and Republican parties, following a catastrophic economic crisis. The new regime imparts abrupt measures in the face of the unsustainable violence that has broken out in the country. These measures include one night a year where citizens can commit any crime without answering to justice for 12 continuous hours, this day has been called: The Purge.

   James Sandin, a successful security systems salesman, lives in an upscale Los Angeles suburb with his wife Mary and their two children, Zoey and Charlie. When the annual night of The Purge arrives, James locks himself and his family in their home, protected by their excellent security system, as they, like many people, avoid participating that night. However, things start to go wrong when a homeless man, pursued by a group of Purgers, breaks into their home to hide. Now James and his family must find him if they are not to suffer the hungry wrath of the purgers - a hair-raising situation!

El nuevo régimen imparte medidas abruptas ante la insostenible violencia que se ha desatado en el país. Estas medidas incluyen una noche al año en donde los ciudadanos pueden cometer cualquier crimen sin responder ante la justicia durante 12 horas continuas, a este día se le ha llamado: The Purge.

   James Sandin, es un exitoso vendedor de sistemas de seguridad que vive en un lujoso suburbio en Los Ángeles con su esposa Mary y sus dos hijos: Zoey y Charlie. Al llegar la noche anual de The Purge, James se encierra con su familia en su casa, protegidos por su excelente sistema de seguridad, ya que ellos, como muchas personas, evitan participar esa noche. Sin embargo, las cosas comienzan a salir mal cuando un indigente, perseguido por un grupo de purgadores, se introduce en su hogar para esconderse.    Personal opinion

   The film maximizes the discontent that social problems within a country can provoke. Throughout each scene, we see suggestive ideas of a country that has surrendered its freedom for stability and a comfortable life, and this catastrophically suggests annihilating the lives of thousands of people. We see how the film plays with political philosophy by creating a disgusting monster, as all dystopias do.

   I am a big fan of dystopias, both in literature and film, and what strikes me most about this film is the tremendous controversy that a country would cause if it left control to its citizens. The so-called "common good" as Aristotle put it, can easily be overthrown if the majority in a society is dissatisfied, unless a government comes in and manages to control it.

   These are the aspects that attract me the most in the film, which exposes a double face of the human being: one in which he is a bloodthirsty bestial monster and the other in which he is a noble and domesticated hound, who is not capable of harming even a butterfly. After all, the human being is an animal, and as such, possesses dangerous instincts that must be coerced, quoting Machiavelli: Human beings are evil unless they are forced to be good.

   Here we find animal instinct fighting against reason, the Sandin family represents the rational part of a society that for one night becomes a sea of chaos. Corpses proliferate in the streets while they struggle to survive in order not to fall into the hands of the purgers. What I like most about this film is the darkness it employs, beyond a sadistic atmosphere. The characters, such as the leader of the purgers who attacks the Sandin family, generate strong anxiety as we see a deranged and psychopathic person, with a subtlety in his personality that is disturbing and a madness that manipulates his entire way of being.

   I found the performances of Ethan Hawke and Lena Headey to be spectacular and believable, following a fluctuating direction of emotions in an environment where they are threatened. I thought the script was very good, I don't think I would change anything to the dialogues, because it explains perfectly with each frame, the brutal world that is presented to us. Clearly we can analyze this film from several aspects, but the plot is the most terrifying, to think that you can be exposed to your enemy and there is no law to protect you, is something that causes tension all the time.

   Opinión personal

   La película maximiza el descontento que pueden provocar los problemas sociales dentro de un país. A través de cada escena, veremos ideas sugestivas de un país que ha entregado su libertad por estabilidad y una vida confortable, y esto sugiere catastróficamente aniquilar la vida de miles de personas. Vemos como el filme juega con la filosofía política creando un monstruo repugnante, como hacen todas las distopías.

   Soy un gran fanático de las distopías, tanto en la literatura como en el cine, y lo que más me llama la atención de esta película, es la tremenda polémica que causaría un país si les deja el control a sus ciudadanos. El llamado: “Bien común” como lo decía Aristóteles, puede ser derruido fácilmente si la mayoría en una sociedad está inconforme, a menos que llegue un gobierno y logre controlar eso.

   Estos son los aspectos que más me atraen de la película, la cual expone una doble cara del ser humano: una en la que es un monstruo bestial sediento de sangre y la otra en la que es un sabueso noble y domesticado, que no es capaz de hacerle daño ni a una mariposa. Después de todo el ser humano es un animal, y como tal, posee instintos peligrosos que deben ser coaccionados, citando a Maquiavelo: El ser humano es malo a menos que se le obligue a ser bueno.

   Aquí encontraremos al instinto animal luchando contra la razón, la familia Sandin representa a la parte racional de una sociedad que por una noche se convierte en un mar de caos. Los cadáveres proliferan en las calles mientras ellos luchan por sobrevivir para no caer en manos de los purgadores. Lo que más me gusta de este filme es la oscuridad que emplea, más allá de un ambiente sádico. Los personajes, como el líder de los purgadores que ataca a la familia Sandin, generan una fuerte ansiedad al ver a una persona trastornada y psicópata, con una sutileza en su personalidad que preocupa y una locura que manipula toda su forma de ser.

   Las actuaciones de Ethan Hawke y Lena Headey me parecieron espectaculares y creíbles, siguiendo una dirección fluctuante de emociones en un entorno donde se encuentran amenazados. El guion me pareció muy bueno, creo que no le cambiaría nada a los diálogos, pues explica perfectamente junto a cada fotograma, el mundo brutal que se nos presenta. Claramente podemos analizar esta película desde varios aspectos, pero la trama es lo más terrorífico, pensar en que puedes estar expuesto a tu enemigo y no hay ley que te proteja, es algo que provoca tensión todo el tiempo.

   Conclusions

   With an excellent storyline, laced with thoughts and social criticism The Purge, has become for me one of the best horror films. This particular film has been successful, although the other sequels have not been as striking as the first film and that leaves the last one: The Forever Purge, released this same year, being the least popular. The concept is very good and it works, even if it hasn't received good reviews, it has transcended to such popularity that TV and theatrical references have been made about it.

   Conclusiones

   Con una historia excelente, compaginada por pensamientos y críticas sociales The Purge, se ha convertido para mí en una de las mejores películas de terror. Este filme en particular ha tenido éxito, aunque las demás secuelas no hayan sido tan llamativas como la primera película y eso deja a la última: The Forever Purge, estrenada este mismo año, siendo la menos popular. El concepto es muy bueno y funciona, aunque no haya recibido buenas críticas, ha trascendido a una popularidad tan grande que se han hecho referencias en la televisión y el teatro sobre ella.

   Recién acabo de terminar de mirar la purga y la película no tiene nada nuevo que ofrecer al público, si es que ustede ya vio las otras películas anteriores.

   La película se basa igual en la teoría de que en una noche se puede liberar las tensiones acumuladas por las personas, una noche en la que se caen las máscaras de las personas y todas son libres de cometer los asesinatos que les plazcan, igual son libres en decidir si participar o no en la purga.

   Lo diferente de esta película a las otras es que esta vez se basan en un odio racial. Se pregona un racismo en contra de los inmigrantes en Estados Unidos, en especial un odio hacia los mexicanos que cruzan la frontera ilegalmente.

   En general la película no es muy buena, tiene acción pero no es la gran cosa, los diálogos no son muy buenos, pero al menos llega a entretener, en especial a las personas que no son muy exigentes con respecto a este tipo de películas.

   Odio hacia los mexicanos inmigrantes, pero que argumento tan innovador, que va eso es tan viejo como la sopa, pero que tristemente sigue vigente y sobretodo en estos días.

   Una "purga eterna" proclaman los suoremacistas blancos, una limpieza étnica, en que se barra por completo con todo aquel que no sea blanco. Aunque hay que decir que entre blancos también se disparan.

   A esta película no se le puede pedir mucho más, es entretenimiento puro y duro, con un argumento que ya todos conocemos. La actuación de los actores no es para nada destacable, no hay mucho que decir de ellos al respecto, pues inicieron su mejor trabajo, quizás, pero aún así no es muy bueno.

   Si usted se quiere entrener le recomiendo que vea la película, si ya vio las anteriores, pues probablemente no lo sorprenda esta nueva. No obstante dentro de lo mala que puede llegar a ser tiene algo bueno.

   En una clasificación dentro del uno al diez le calificaría con un 6.5 pues no es tan mala pero si es repetitiva. Aunque bueno esa es solo mi opinión. Usted tendrá la suya.

   I just finished watching the purge and the movie has nothing new to offer the audience, if you already saw the other previous movies.

   The movie is still based on the theory that in one night people's accumulated tensions can be released, a night in which people's masks fall off and they are all free to commit whatever murders they please, just as they are free to decide whether or not to participate in the purge.

   What makes this film different from the others is that this time it is based on racial hatred. Racism against immigrants in the U.S., especially hatred of Mexicans who cross the border illegally, is touted.

   Overall the movie is not very good, it has action but it is not great, the dialogues are not very good, but at least it manages to entertain, especially to people who are not very demanding with respect to this type of movies.

   Hate towards Mexican immigrants, but what an innovative argument, that's as old as soup, but sadly still valid and especially nowadays.

   An "eternal purge" proclaim the white suoremacists, an ethnic cleansing, in which they completely sweep away anyone who is not white. Although it must be said that among whites they also shoot.

   You can't ask much more from this movie, it's pure and hard entertainment, with a plot that we all already know. The performance of the actors is not at all remarkable, there is not much to say about them in this regard, they started their best work, perhaps, but still not very good.

   If you want to be entertained I recommend you to see the movie, if you have already seen the previous ones, you probably won't be surprised by this new one. However, as bad as it can be, it has something good.

   In a rating from one to ten I would rate it with a 6.5 because it is not that bad but it is repetitive. But that's just my opinion. You will have yours.

   Hi.

   Welcome to my blog.

   A few months ago I watched the film The Purge: Anarchy and the truth is that I was completely shocked by the concept of it as I found it terrifying. Yesterday by chance I saw an advertisement for the latest film in the series and decided to have a marathon today.

   

   This series of films tells us about an annual event in which the streets of the United States are bathed in blood and full of violence. For 12 hours any citizen can commit any crime they want without any legal punishment. Each film in the series shows a different perspective from the upper-class citizen and the working citizen to the politician.

   In the most recent film, called "The Forever Purge", something slightly different happens, as in addition to the usual crimes and lawlessness, the situation gets out of control and the criminals decide to continue with the purge even though the legally stipulated time limit for it has expired. Despite this twist, I'm finding it the slowest film of all.

   Hace unos meses vi la película La Purga: Anarchy y la verdad es que me impactó completamente el concepto de la misma ya que me pareció aterradora. Ayer por casualidad vi un anuncio de la última película de la saga y decidí hacer una maratón.

   

   Esta serie de películas nos habla de un evento anual en el que las calles de Estados Unidos se bañan en sangre y se llenan de violencia. Durante 12 horas cualquier ciudadano puede cometer el crimen que quiera sin ningún castigo legal. Cada película de la serie muestra una perspectiva diferente, desde el ciudadano de clase alta y el ciudadano trabajador hasta el político.

   En la película más reciente, llamada "The Forever Purge", ocurre algo ligeramente diferente, ya que además de los crímenes y la anarquía habituales, la situación se descontrola y los criminales deciden continuar con la purga aunque haya expirado el plazo legalmente estipulado para ello. A pesar de este giro, me está pareciendo la película más lenta de todas.

   The year is 2022. United States celebrates a special night known as the purge. This event consists in committing all kinds of crimes (including murder); the victims can be of any social class, although those preferred by the participants were homeless people and families. 

   James Sandin (Ethan Hawke), a seller specialized in security systems, prepares for such a "great" night; he had recently reached the top spot in the sales record of the company where he works. That news made his wife Mary (Lena Heady) and his children Zoe (Adelaide Kane) and Charlie (Mark Burkholder) very happy. However, things were not going to be as peaceful as expected, since an act of mercy from the family's youngest would start what it would be a hellish night.

   I found its plot interesting, although I felt that they could develop it better if they wanted to present a probable near or distant future about a society that is "liberated" every year by committing all kinds of atrocities among its members for any reason. Perhaps what can salvage the film, apart from the decent performances of the cast, is the constant moral debate between what is right and what is not, between compassion and hate. While James intended to deliver the tramp to the purgers, Charlie insisted that he could show mercy; while Mary showed mercy towards her neighbors despite they tried to kill her and her family out of mere disgust and envy, the purgers did not show mercy to anyone who is from a different social class .

   Before the events that happened in the film, one as a spectator wonders how far a society could go in order to "free itself from its demons".

Sin embargo, las cosas no iban a ser tan pacíficas como se esperaban, pues un acto de piedad por parte del menor de la familia daría inicio a lo que sería una noche infernal.

   Su guión me pareció interesante, aunque sentí que pudieron desarrollarlo mejor si querían presentar un futuro cercano o lejano probable sobre una sociedad que se "libera" cada año cometiendo todo tipo de atrocidades entre sus miembros por cualquier motivo. Quizás lo rescatable del film, aparte de las actuaciones decentes del elenco, es el constante debate moral entre qué es lo correcto y qué no, entre la compasión y el odio. Mientras que James pretendía entregar al vagabundo a los purgadores, Charlie insistía en que mostrase piedad; mientras que Mary demostró piedad hacia sus vecinos a pesar de que éstos intentaran matarles a ella y a su familia por mero disgusto y envidia, los purgadores no demostraban piedad con todo aquél que sea de una clase social distinta a la suya. 

   Ante los eventos acontecidos en la película, uno como espectador se pregunta qué tan lejos podría llegar una sociedad con tal de "liberarse de sus demonios".

    Disclaimer* This was supposed to be released yesterday but Steemit was down when I attempted to post. This article is my opinion not a fact, if you enjoy the Purge movies more power to you.

     So the fourth Purge movie comes out this Wednesday July 4th. Yes their have really been four Purge movies since 2013. Honestly I don't really get the appeal of these movies. If you like them more power to you but I would honestly like to know what about these movies makes you interested. The original movie was a passable horror movie with a semi-fresh concept. If you don't know, in the universe of The Purge all crime is legal in the U.S. for one night. How they think they could give people a taste of real freedom and then get them back under control I have no idea. Then they released a follow up that expanded the movie beyond the one house scope of the original. The first movie at least had some character and atmosphere going for it but when they expanded to the greater L.A. area it just became a generic murder spree like we've seen a hundred times before. I thought this would be the end to the series but just 2 years later they released The Purge: Election Year.

     The Purge: Election Year is a slight step up from The Purge: Anarchy( number 2) but still falls flat in most regards. It's the standard "wacky" people killing other people in the streets movie again but this time there is even more weird things happening.  A few of the scenes are somewhat interesting but it is by and large a remake of 2 with a paper-thin story draped over it. Honestly I don't think anyone is going to these movies for the story but for some reason whoever keeps making these movies insists on shoving in a convoluted plot to go along with the murder porn. And now we come to the current movie.

     The First Purge is a prequel to the series. So yes on top of being a rehash of a stale concept for the fourth time it is also a prequel. It seems they aren't going to let this franchise rest until it flops hard. Much like the Paranormal Activity movies these get made on a very small budget ( between 6-12 million) and see a wide release so they are almost guaranteed to make their money back before people realize the movie is bad. I don't mind a decent horror/murder porn movie once in a while but the constant effort to inject "story" really drags it down. This next  movie appears to be adding in even more backstory no one cares about, including Trump references because we don't hear enough about him FFS and less of the violence and destruction people come for. The central thrust of the movie seems to be the government hiring mercenaries to make sure the Purge is successful, I guess we are supposed to be outraged by this fictional development? And brave people protesting the purge, honestly just get to the killing. I'm anticipating a lot of sitting around in board rooms talking about purging and hand wringing and not much worth seeing. I think it's time we vote with our wallets and purge this Purge from a theater near you. Maybe then they will put it to sleep for a while and make something people actually want to see in a few years.
