    Let the bloody note resound.

The 1970s were a time when movies were undergoing a veritable transformation, not only socially, but also culturally. People crowds began to take an interest in what not long ago was a taboo subject for many, while directors slowly created peculiar gems of a particular film genre. Director Jim Sharman decided to move a play that strongly revolutionized the times and abandoned the taboo in favor of the grotesque and strongly outlined the style and shaped the great career of the actress.

__Can this dress be yours? Many think that now there is a fashion for LGBT and many things related to it, however, it was the 70s that threw the viewer firmly into the crazy world, while maintaining morality. While today's productions sometimes go to extremes to show the relationship of the characters, in the 70s the director went a step further by creating a veritable bomb that sticks firmly in the mind, but shows otherness in a cultural way.

This scream this flash this sing. The Rocky Horror Picture, is a work that uniquely combines horror and musical, but is also a drama and a kind of portrait of a community. Although the film is largely sung, each song in some way reflects a given situation or emotion, and so the viewer gets caught up in the twisted spectacle on screen. Tim Curry for many is the famous clown Pennywise from It for many is also the famous Devil from Legend, but the strong accent started, just with this film and his ambiguous role, which at the same time wants change, but on the other hand can not do anything. The film strongly rubs against kitsch and grotesque thanks to this, many scenes, despite the exaggeration, are designed to make the viewer curious about this madness. The main characters are two people in love who have just proposed and are planning a wedding, driving like this in a car suddenly at night in the rain their car breaks down in the distance the viewer sees a mysterious castle. This castle is a grotesque variation of the horror movie characters we know, but thoroughly exaggerated so that all the madness is reflected in what the protagonist wants to do.

Beauty come to life please. In the castle they meet a transvestite who is a mad scientist and wants to create Rocky's perfect boyfriend. He asks the main characters to help him, but they don't yet know that this help will involve pure madness.

The Last Breath of the Old Days. The film does not try to cover up the orientation even as it escalates trying to give it a certain dissonance between laughter and drama. Tim as the mad scientist even steals every scene of this film, the rest of the actors are pure background for the acting artistry that Curry shows. The film also features actress Susan Sarandon, known to many, but her vocals are not convincing, while her acting is fairly ok. The film is a kind of struggle with oneself and one's demons to find answers about one's orientation. The closer we get to the finale, the more we feel that everything is leading to an inevitable tragedy, which, as in society, happens when someone stands out too much. This is a film that, under the cloak of singing, dancing and rather comical scenes, wants to show a world full of madness and an attempt at love so far away for a mad scientist. reassuming. This is a work that you need to know, no matter what your orientation is this film is a milestone when it comes to horror and the musical. It's a film that strongly messed up cinematography and also showed a world that is not crystalline and society always has to mess something up. 7/10

  2. Who's loving this musical? Let's talk about a 'Sweet Transvestite'.@lordtimoty1587d

Film is at its most powerful, I suppose, when it is able to get under your skin, and stays in your mind - and with musicals, it is when the songs linger, and linger and 25 years after you've first seen the show, you still remember them.

My dad probably used film as a babysitter, and I was possibly around 10 or 11 when I first watched, 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show'. I didn't know what a 'Sweet Transvestite' was, but I knew it was a catchy song. As Janet sang, 'Touch me, I want to get dirty' - I thought, how bizarre, why would you want to be covered in mud.

The characters were larger than life, and the costuming over the top in such a quirky way. Was a feather boa and a glitzy hat necessary? No, but wow - what an impact. Did Brett have to wear underpants? No - but how isolating.

I knew something odd was happening the whole way through this film, and I just couldn't help tap my feet. Or, in the case of the 'Time Warp' - move it to right and so forth. And the red lips singing the intro song - do you remember that? Of course you do, it was unforgettable!

That first viewing was 25 years ago, and I have watched it once or twice since - I even watched the sequel, which wasn't great and I can't remember it's name, but I remember it was playing out on a Television set (see, not as good, no long term impact), and I got the adult references (although, the Meatloaf scene never made any sense).

I remember the songs. I can clearly see the film. I remember how I felt. Isn't this what makes a great film, or in this case, a 'sweet' film.

    Ah, the memories.

Look, the film itself isn't amazing. The plot is kind of rubbish, and the ending - give us all a break. But it didn't matter, the songs were amazing and the film, visually, so different to everything else I'd ever seen. It was daring, risky, iconic - mind blowing.

Perhaps a 10 year old shouldn't have seen this, but it definitely leads to an open mind, and an understanding that visual mediums can powerfully imprint themselves into your mind.

(You know though, in person, 'The Book of Mormon' was so funny, perhaps I could offer that as a non-filmed version. I could also have said 'Les Miserables', but I don't like Act 2 and while I looooooove Act 1, I decided not to bother with the filmed version, to avoid the disappointment of the second half).
