  1. The Stranger - A Harlan Coben limited series on Netflix@unbiasedwriter1574d

My last post was about Gone for Good, a Netflix limited series based on the book written by Harlan Coben. I didn't like the series and I was actually quite bored throughout the entire series. But, I didn't give up on Harlan Coben, and that is why I immediately started to stream The Stranger afterward.

The Stranger is a limited series with 8 parts, all lasting between 40 and 50 minutes. It features Richard Armitage in the main role, a husband who suddenly gets to hear a baffling fact about his wife that turns his life upside down. But, the information he has been given is causing a way bigger wave than the one giving the information could ever have imagined. The Stranger, the person who gave this secret information to the character played by Richard Armitage, later shows up and shares secret information with other people, blackmailing some, while sharing information with others just to clear the air and get the truth out.

    Then the wife disappears...

Just after confronting the wife with the information he just received, the wife suddenly disappears and the husband is suffering, even though he strongly disliked the truth about his wife that he just heard. But, what happened to the wife? Who is involved? Who is the stranger that just shared the information with him?

The limited series is packed with great questions and I really enjoyed watching this all the way until the end. Some of the smaller puzzles I was able to understand and guess (which I enjoyed), but you always had the feeling that there was a greater picture that you didn't clearly get.

No matter what, this is a great limited series on Netflix. I guess my mate @netflixr will consider it to be slow and too long, but at least it comes to an end after eight episodes! :)

No matter what, I think this can be compared to Stay Close (by Harlan Coben), but I think I found this to be a little bit more interesting and better than Stay Close (and a hundred times better than Gone for Good).

I guess it is time to hunt down the next Harlan Coben series on Netflix now! :)

  2. The Stranger - Everyone has dirty secrets@dedicatedguy2323d

Netflix has done it again! I wasn't even expecting this series because I wasn't aware it was being produced so when checking it out I was happy to find a new show to binge-watch. The Stranger is a new mystery series produced by Netflix that will keep must people excited throughout the entire 8 episodes.

The plot is about a strange woman that suddenly follows a man and tells him a creepy secret about his wife. This apparently simple fact will trigger a series of events that might end in a catastrophe. Not only that, but crazy actions also take place at a teenagers party and in the end everything is connected.

What this series show is that every person will most likely have a dark secret that should remain buried no matter what. Sometimes telling the truth is not the best choice and the existence of benevolent lies is absolutely real.

The story takes place in what seems to be a little British town, I said little because most people seem to know each other and there are a lot of friendships between some characters which is typical of a little town setting. Little do these characters know that their lives will go through a hurricane in a short time.

It is not only a single secret that causes havoc, but the accumulative effect of several secrets that end up having a horrible result. The series also has its dose of crazy events, but these mostly happen in the first episode. The best part about this show is the mystery behind this stranger and the secrets from every character.

I recommend this show to everyone who wishes to enjoy a good mystery thriller. Being a miniseries there are only 8 episodes so it doesn't take much time to watch the entire thing.

    The best

    • Excellent pace and mystery buildup to keep the viewer at the edge of their seats. It doesn't have boring episodes like HBO's current mystery series The Outsider.
    • The performances were generally good. Good casting.
    • The plot is intriguing enough for it to be worth watching.

    The worst

    • A cop pretending to be funny, especially in the first episodes.
    • There is a plot hole involving the sickness of a secondary character that wasn't properly clarified.
