   ¡Hola amigos! Hoy les traigo la reseña de la segunda temporada de El verano en que me enamoré. Hice la reseña de la primera temporada el año pasado, se las dejo acá para que entren a leerla si quieren.

   Hello friends! Today I bring you the review of the second season of The Summer I Turned Pretty. I did the review of the first season last year, I leave it here so you can read it if you want.

   

   Trama - Plot

   En esta segunda temporada seguimos con los problemas y dramas adolescentes. Sin Susannah les resulta difícil a los personajes seguir unidos como siempre lo fueron, sobre todo ahora que las cosas con Belly y los hermanos Fisher están complicadas. Los problemas no se hacen esperar al enterarse de que van a perder la casa de verano a manos de la hermana de su madre que decide ponerla en venta. Los chicos: Conrad, Jeremiah, Belly, Steve, Taylor y Sky, la hija de la hermana de Susannah, intentarán impedirlo y para ello deben dejar atrás las asperezas y comenzar a trabajar en equipo para lograr su objetivo.

   In this second season we continue with the teenage problems and dramas. Without Susannah it is difficult for the characters to remain united as they always were, especially now that things with Belly and the Fisher brothers are complicated. Trouble is not long in coming when they learn that they are going to lose their summer house to their mother's sister who decides to put it up for sale. The boys: Conrad, Jeremiah, Belly, Steve, Taylor and Sky, Susannah's sister's daughter, will try to prevent it and to do so they must leave the rough edges behind and start working as a team to achieve their goal.

   La serie sigue siendo adictiva, pero se me hizo chocante en cierto punto por todos los dramas evitables con los que se enredan los personajes. Pero esa es la maravilla de los años adolescentes, uno comete muchas estupideces de las que después se arrepiente, o quizá no.

   The series is still addictive, but it became shocking to me at a certain point because of all the avoidable drama the characters get entangled with. But that's the wonder of the teenage years, you do a lot of stupid things that you later regret, or maybe not.

   Aunque no me gusta la actitud de la protagonista esta temporada. Siento algo personal con ella, y ya se que es un personaje de ficción y está escrito así, pero me gustaría que sepa que hay más chicos en el mundo aparte de los hermanos. Que ya estaría bueno que LOS DEJE EN PAZ. Al pobre de Conrad no le dieron ni un respiro en toda la serie, desde la primera temporada que viene sufriendo. Va de un lado para el otro. Es una serie que me terminó enojando, como verán jajaja, pero les juro que no puedo dejar de consumirla, es curioso. Tiene un enganche potente.

   I don't like the attitude of the main character this season though. I feel something personal with her, and I know she's a fictional character and it's written that way, but I'd like her to know that there are more kids in the world besides the brothers. That it would be nice if she would LEAVE THEM ALONE. Poor Conrad hasn't been given a break in the whole series, he's been suffering since the first season. He goes from one side to the other. It's a series that ended up pissing me off, as you'll see hahaha, but I swear I can't stop watching it, it's funny. It has a powerful hook.

   Algo que me parece una maravilla de esta serie es la musicalización, está todo muy calculado, se las arregla para meter temas y artistas del momento. Esta segunda temporada tuvo más canciones de Taylor Swift de las que pude haber imaginado y adoré cada momento en las que fueron utilizadas. Sobre todo aquel pequeño vistazo a lo que será Delicate Taylor's Version. Siempre digo que hay una canción de ella para cada momento de la vida y acá quedó más que demostrado. Sin embargo, también creo que se agarraron un poco de esto para generar curiosidad en los televidentes. El marketing fue bueno, eso sí, porque les salió bastante bien. 

   Something that I think is a marvel of this series is the musicalization, it's all very calculated, they manage to put in songs and artists of the moment. This second season had more Taylor Swift songs than I could have imagined and I loved every moment they were used. Especially that little glimpse of what will be Delicate Taylor's Version. I always say there's a song of hers for every moment of life and here it was more than proven. However, I also think they took advantage of this to generate curiosity in the viewers. The marketing was good, that's for sure, because it worked out pretty well.

   Hubo algún que otro golpe bajo con todo lo referente a Susannah en donde fue inevitable no derramar un par de lágrimas. De nuevo se puede ver la importancia y el valor de una buena amistad que esté ahí, en tus mejores y peores momentos. Siempre al pie del cañón.

   There was the occasional low blow with everything about Susannah where it was inevitable not to shed a couple of tears. Again you can see the importance and value of a good friendship that is there, in your best and worst moments. Always at the bottom of the barrel.

   Y bueno, todavía seguimos en el limbo del triángulo amoroso que ya se está tornando agotador, pero es parte de la trama y no nos liberaremos de ello hasta el final. No sé cómo se las van a ingeniar para arreglar esta hermandad que están destruyendo, así que solo queda fingir demencia y ver con qué nuevas cosas van a salir en las próximas temporadas. Igual estoy tan disgustada con Belly que cualquier escenario posible me va a saber mal. Espero equivocarme.

   And well, we're still in love triangle limbo which is already getting exhausting, but it's part of the plot and we won't be free of it until the end. I don't know how they're going to manage to fix this sisterhood they're destroying, so we're just left to feign insanity and see what new stuff they're going to come up with in the next few seasons. I'm still so disgusted with Belly that any possible scenario is going to taste bad to me. I hope I'm wrong.

   ¡Hola amigos de hive! Hoy les traigo mi opinión sobre una serie de adolescentes: El verano en que me enamoré.

   La empecé a ver porque me dijeron que había varias canciones de Taylor Swift usadas en el soundtrack y soy muy fan de ella, así que me dio curiosidad ver cómo las utilizaron. Esa es la verdad, ya que la primicia de la serie no me llamaba para nada la atención.

   I started watching it because I was told that there were several Taylor Swift songs used in the soundtrack and I'm a big fan of hers, so I was curious to see how they used them. That's the truth, since the scoop on the series didn't hold my attention at all.

   

   Trama - Plot

   La historia gira en torno a dos familias que son muy amigas. Todos los veranos una de ellas va a pasar las vacaciones en la casa de la otra. Los hijos de ambas familias son muy amigos, así como sus madres. Isabel (Lola Tung), más conocida como Belly, es la hija menor de Laurel (Jackie Chung). También tiene un hermano uno o dos años mayor llamado Steven (Sean Kaufman). 

   The story revolves around two families who are close friends. Every summer one of them goes to spend the vacations at the other's house. The children of both families are close friends, as are their mothers. Isabel (Lola Tung), better known as Belly, is Laurel's (Jackie Chung) youngest daughter. She also has a brother a year or two older named Steven (Sean Kaufman).

   Belly lleva enamorada desde siempre de Conrad (Christopher Briney), el hijo de la otra familia. Conrad también tiene un hermano que se llama Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno).

   Belly has always been in love with Conrad (Christopher Briney), the son of the other family. Conrad also has a brother named Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno).

   Este verano, Belly cumple 16 años y está apostando a que sean unas vacaciones diferentes y desea que finalmente Conrad se fije en ella. Pero no contaba con que estuviera actuando de una forma muy rara, y como si fuera poco, Jer podría tener sentimientos románticos por ella.

   This summer, Belly turns 16 and she's betting on it being a different kind of vacation and wishes Conrad would finally notice her. But she didn't count on him acting all weird, and to top it off, Jer might have romantic feelings for her.

   Opinión personal - Personal opinion

   Creo que lo mejor que tiene esta serie es el soundtrack. No, igual se me hizo bastante entretenida. Amé la amistad de las madres de los chicos, Laurel y Susannah (Rachel Blanchard), ellas son amigas desde jóvenes, tienen una relación muy hermosa. Es lindo ver cómo sus hijos continúan con la tradición, aunque un poco distorsionada está versión de amistad.

   I think the best thing about this series is the soundtrack. No, I still found it quite entertaining. I loved the friendship of the boys' mothers, Laurel and Susannah (Rachel Blanchard), they have been friends since they were young, they have a very beautiful relationship. It's nice to see how their children carry on the tradition, although this version of friendship is a bit distorted.

   Es una historia de adolescentes, así que se puede ver todo el tema hormonal y las indecisiones. Ya saben, a esa edad todo parece que es ahora o nunca. Todo se siente con más intensidad también. Hay muchas idas y vueltas. 

   It's a teenage story, so you can see the whole hormonal thing and the indecisions. You know, at that age everything feels like it's now or never. Everything feels more intense as well. There's a lot of back and forth.

   De hecho, el personaje de Belly es como una adolescente cualquiera, pero sentí que sí estaba muy en su mundo, no veía más allá de ella. No percibió lo que estaba pasando a su alrededor. A Conrad me daban muchas ganas de abrazarlo. Tuvo que cargar con un peso muy grande todo ese tiempo, y sí, le justificó su comportamiento. De hecho, lo manejo bastante bien. Luego tenemos a Jer que es el típico chico despreocupado, que solo piensa en ir a fiestas y divertirse. Es el divertido de la familia. Pero pienso que es su mecanismo de defensa. A Steven, el hermano de Belly, se lo ve preocupado por su futuro, con ganas de ahorrar para entrar a una buena universidad. Pero se ve envuelto en un ambiente pudiente y tiene ganas de pertenecer ahí, así que comete algunos errores en el camino.

   In fact, Belly's character is just like any other teenager, but I felt that she was very much in her own world, she didn't see beyond herself. She didn't perceive what was going on around her. Conrad made me want to hug him. He had to carry a lot of weight all that time, and yes, he was justified in his behavior. In fact, he handled it quite well. Then we have Jer who is the typical carefree kid, who only thinks about going to parties and having fun. He's the fun one in the family. But I think that's his defense mechanism. Steven, Belly's brother Steven, you see him worried about his future, wanting to save up to get into a good college. But he gets caught up in a wealthy environment and wants to belong there, so he makes some mistakes along the way.

   Con respecto a Laurel, la madre de Belly y Steven, les puedo decir que aspira a ser una gran escritora. Tiene una relación hermosa con Susannah, a pesar de que discrepan en muchos asuntos. Sobre todo en el modo en que está atravesando este proceso del que no les puedo hablar porque es spoiler. Del otro lado tenemos a Susannah, la madre de Conrad y Jer, que siento que se comporta como una adolescente más, la vi un poco despreocupada en algunos aspectos. También desconectada de lo que estaban viviendo sus hijos hasta que todo explotó.

   Regarding Laurel, Belly and Steven's mother, I can tell you that she aspires to be a great writer. She has a beautiful relationship with Susannah, even though they disagree on many issues. Especially in the way she's going through this process that I can't tell you about because it's spoiler. On the other side we have Susannah, Conrad and Jer's mother, who I feel acts like just another teenager, I saw her as a little carefree in some ways. Also disconnected from what her children were going through until everything exploded.

   Sin embargo, tiene partes muy clichés que ya no banco mucho como lo del triángulo amoroso (otra vez con los triángulos amorosos, me persiguen), sobre todo entre hermanos, me parece espantoso. No solo eso, sino que hubo otro involucrado en el proceso que también ligó un beso. A todos los chicos de esa ciudad parece gustarles Belly, lo más gracioso es que ella siempre pasó sus veranos ahí, pero se ve que en ese último año sufrió algún cambio favorable en su imagen.

   However, it has very cliché parts that I don't bank much anymore like the love triangle (again with the love triangles, they haunt me), especially between siblings, I find it appalling. Not only that, but there was another one involved in the process that also linked a kiss. All the guys in that town seem to like Belly, the funny thing is that she always spent her summers there, but you can tell that in that last year she underwent some favorable change in her image.

   Pero no todo es color de rosas, hay una razón por la qué Conrad está actuando extraño, ya no parece tener ánimos de hacer las cosas que le gustan y se la pasa amargado y pensativo. Esa razón viene por algo que le está pasando a la madre y se supone que él no debería saberlo porque lo están manteniendo en secreto y esa es la parte triste de toda esta historia. Al final sí hubo lágrimas y un tinte más serio a causa de esto. 

   But not everything is rosy, there is a reason why Conrad is acting strange, he doesn't seem to be in the mood to do the things he likes anymore and he is bitter and pensive. That reason comes from something that is happening to his mother and he is not supposed to know about it because they are keeping it a secret and that is the sad part of this whole story. At the end there were tears and a more serious tinge because of this.

   Quedó el pie para hacer una continuación de esta historia. Veremos qué pasa.

   It was left to make a continuation of this story. We will see what happens.

   

   Palabras finales - Closing words

   En definitiva, es una serie bastante cliché con algún tinte dramático. De todos modos tiene algo que me hacia dar ganas de seguir viéndola, no piensen que la vi por puro capricho. Esta buena para pasar el rato, pero si no te gusta este tipo de historias mejor huye. Si vienes por Taylor Swift, como yo, quédate. Hubo varios guiños hacia esta cantante en toda la serie, realmente dijeron "vamos a lucrar con ella" y no los culpo.

   All in all, it's a pretty cliché series with some dramatic overtones. Anyway, it has something that made me want to keep watching it, don't think I watched it on a whim. It's good to pass the time, but if you don't like this kind of stories you'd better run away. If you come for Taylor Swift, like me, stay. There were several winks to this singer throughout the series, they really said "let's make money with her" and I don't blame them.
