My problem with ' The Tearsmith ' 👎🏻 | Movie Review@josehany500d

I just watched a movie I'd been avoiding for a long time, and I don't know how it happened, I was choosing movies and I just said "there's nothing good, I'll put this" but I hadn't realized it was this one and in the end I was always right, I DIDN'T LIKE IT.

Not everything is rosy on my blog, of course I mostly focus on those movies that I liked or were simply entertaining but from time to time I also do reviews of those that I didn't find so good, according to my own personal tastes.

Let's talk very superficially about what it's about, to start with it comes from a novel that has the same title, the original is in Italian 'Fabbricante si lacrime' but I found it with the English title on Netflix. Probably the novel was perhaps better than the movie or probably worse, maybe I wouldn't want to know all the details on those pages, lol.

Acabo de ver una película que había estado evitando por mucho tiempo, y no sé cómo pasó, estaba eligiendo películas y simplemente dije "no hay nada bueno, pondré esto" pero no me había percatado que era esta y al final siempre tuve razón, NO ME GUSTÓ.

En mi blog no todo es color de rosa, claro que mayormente me enfoco en aquellas películas que me gustaron o simplemente fueron entretenidas pero de vez en cuando también hago reviews de aquellas que no me parecieron tan buena, según mis propios gustos personales.

Hablemos muy superficialmente de que trata, para empezar viene de una novela que lleva el mismo título, el original es en italiano 'Fabbricante si lacrime' pero yo lo encontré con el título en inglés en Netflix. Probablemente la novela haya sido quizás mejor que la película o probablemente peor, quizá no quisiera saber todos los detalles de esas páginas, lol.

This is a story that follows two teenagers who grew up in an orphanage, Nical and Rigel. The peculiarity of this story is that these characters hate each other but end up being adopted by the same family, so they become siblings, although not biologically that is obvious, but with this fact it is understood that the relationship changes.

That said, understanding what the movie is about, from here on I proceed with a BIG and GIANT SPOILER, SPOILER ALERT.

One of the reasons I didn't like it was the plot, because as we've already said before, these two characters are being adopted by the same family, they're all family now, however that doesn't stop the male protagonist who was madly in love with the female protagonist and the real reason why he agreed to be adopted was to be able to be close to her. And I want to clarify that this character was tried to be adopted many times but he always rejected the proposals, until now. LISTEN, if you like someone why the hell would you go pretend to be a brother, that was very sick and dark to me, and I know they're not biological siblings but still, all this turned my stomach, it made me think that this was actually written by a teenage girl bringing out her darkest and most forbidden thoughts to light.

The story doesn't only focus on this love, well 90% of the movie does. This was my main problem with this whole movie, besides the fact that it is really slow, it is quite sick, I think that at the end they wanted to retract some things but it was too late and this leaves a very confusing message. Since until the end it is no longer focusing on this forbidden love but on the fact that they suffered violence for many years inside that orphanage, but as I say, only a small part was focused on this, and the rest was this sick romance, the mistake was having chosen that these characters were adopted by the same couples and turn them into siblings.

It was torture for me to watch this movie, it's not even that good, it doesn't generate any kind of positive emotion, it keeps making you think "what the hell is going on here" and it's very much a teenage movie, I think in the end they realized that they didn't know how to close the story and added those details, I think this story was trying to be deep but the message it delivered was the complete opposite, maybe it's also due to the poor character development, almost nothing is known about the characters except that they were in love and a few scenes of suffering, the acting is not far behind because it was also poor. It ended up being really disappointing but nothing worse than realizing at the end when I'm going to leave my 👎🏻 on Netflix that this was the movie I didn't want to see because it looked so bad...

Dicho esto, entendiendo de que va la película, a partir de aquí procedo con un GRAN y GIGANTE SPOILER, ALERTA DE SPOILER.

Uno de los motivo por el cual no me gustó fue la trama, pues como ya estamos diciendo antes, estos dos personajes están siendo adoptados por una misma familia, todos son familia ahora, sin embargo eso no detiene al protagonista masculino quien estaba perdidamente enamorado de la protagonista femenina y el motivo real por el cual él aceptó ser adoptado era para poder estar cerca de ella. Y quiero aclarar de que este personaje lo intentaron adoptar muchas veces pero él siempre rechazaba las propuestas, hasta este momento. ESCUCHEN, si te gusta alguien por qué demonios te irías para pretender ser su hermano, eso me resultó muy enfermizo y oscuro, y ya sé que no son hermanos biológicos pero todavía, todo esto me revolvió el estomago, me hizo pensar que esto en realidad lo escribió una niña adolescente sacando sus pensamientos más oscuros y prohibidos a la luz.

La historia no solamente se enfoca en este amor, bueno el 90% de la película sí. Este fue mi problema principal con toda esta película, además de que realmente es muy lenta, es bastante enfermiza, creo que al final quisieron retractarse en algunas cosas pero ya era demasiado tarde y esto deja un mensaje de mucha confusión. Ya que hasta el final ya no se está enfocando en este amor prohibido sino en el hecho de que sufrieron violencia por muchos años dentro de ese orfanato, pero como les digo, solo una pequeña parte se enfocó en esto, y el resto fue este romance enfermizo, el error fue haber escogido que estos personajes fueran adoptados por la misma parejas y volverlos hermanos.

Fue una tortura para mí ver esta película, ni siquiera es muy buena, no te genera ningún tipo de emoción positiva, todo el rato te hace pensar "que demonios sucede aquí" y es muy película de adolescente, yo creo que al final se dieron cuenta de que no sabían bien como cerrar la historia y añadieron esos detalles, creo que esta historia intentaba ser profunda pero el mensaje que entregó fue todo lo contrario, quizá también se deba a la pobreza de desarrollo de los personajes, casi no se supo nada de los personajes, excepto que estaban enamorados y algunas pocas escenas de sufrimiento, las actuaciones no se quedan atrás porque también fueron pobres. Terminó siendo realmente decepcionante pero nada peor como darme cuenta al final cuando voy a dejar mi 👎🏻 en Netflix que esta era la película que no quería ver porque se veía muy mala...

I was utterly confused watching this film as I tried to grasp the happenings in the film. I think the first thing that made it confusing is the fact that I had to read the subtitle to understand the dialogue. Second is the frequent use of flashbacks and crazy supernatural language.

This film is titled “Tearsmith” and to my knowledge, a tearsmith is supposed to be one who helps people release whatever emotional baggage weighing them down. The tearsmith should only be in a world where people aren't allowed to cry or show emotions and then the tearsmith will help them let it out but in this film, I'm unable to grasp the true meaning behind the title.

Synopsis

After a ghastly motor accident, Nica loses her parents and is taken to an orphanage which she calls “Grave”. Here, she experiences mental and emotional abuse alongside other kids except for a boy named Rigel who was the only kid the head of the orphanage, Margaret adored. She loved him like her own son but he didn't like it there in the orphanage. He felt like he was the monster in the story as he was forced everyday to watch the pain other kids went through in the hands of Margaret.

Nica being the one the story revolved around mostly, was even more abused. On her arrival at the orphanage, her necklace was forcefully taken away from her. Margaret asked Rigel to take it. He pulled it off her beck but kept it safe instead of throwing it away as instructed by Margaret.

Years later, Nica and Rigel, now teenagers, are adopted by the Milligans. In the Milligan's house, their romance blooms as it is evident that even after Rigel shows Nica his dark sides she's unable to stop her heart from racing and her body from shuddering whenever she's in close contact with him.

It is later revealed that Rigel had a soft spot for Nica even while they were at the orphanage but he couldn't tell because he felt like he was a monster and didn't want to hurt her. But being at the Milligans helps them understand each other despite the gloom and bad memories they both have about the place they grew up.

My Review and Rating

Judging from the synopsis I've written, it is evident the film has a good story line but the sequence at which the story came out to play is what I didn't enjoy.

One thing that gave me the vibe to keep watching this film was the cinematography. Weirdly, I enjoyed how it was characterized by a gloomy and dark aesthetic which created a pervasive sense of melancholy and tension.

The film makes extensive use of low lighting, muted color palettes, and shadowy compositions, which together envelop the viewer in an atmosphere of somber introspection. This visual style helps underscore the narrative’s emotional weight, emphasizing the characters' internal struggles and the story's bleak undertones.

Complementing this visual gloominess is a hauntingly beautiful soundtrack. One I loved the most was “I love you” by Billie Eilish. The music, often soft and melancholic, acts as a soothing balm against the oppressive darkness. Also, the gentle melodies and ambient sounds not only enhance the mood but also provide a counterpoint to the visual heaviness, creating a poignant contrast that deepens the film's emotional impact.

These descriptions made me watch the film to the end but in terms of storyline, I didn't just like the pacing and childish actions of the characters.

I'd rate it a 3.5/5.

One of my favorite things to do is reading a book that inspired or were became into a movie. I think this is a great way to proof as a director and as a scriptwriter that you're great in your job. In this way, I really enjoy to watch a movie just after reading the story, it is a way to watch, If what I imagined when reading it's exactly what it's in the screen. And this is how today, we're going to talk about:

The Tearsmith is an Italian teen drama Romance movie. It is starred by Caterina Ferioli and Simone Baldasseroni. This movie is based on the novel of the same name by Erin Doom. And It was released in the present year in Netflix platform. It presents the dramatic and tragic story of Nica and Rigel, two teenagers that has has a really difficult life and share more than a love story. However, before get rid of all the fear and surrender to all the love they feel, they gonna have to endure really dificult times for then to have their happy ending.

What do I think about this movie? I honestly hate it. The time line of the movie it's complicated to understand, even though the cast was almost perfect. It is evident the scriptwriter had a battled becoming the book into a script for a movie and lost the battle. I'm pretty conscious the book story is really long and detailed, and that it was essencial for the movie to be a reality to resume the story. However, there wasn't such thing as a good resume of it, the movie time line was really precipitated. I just don't get why they decided to add speeches or moments that wasn't necessary for the story and didn't add any context or value to it, just modified it. Also because of their additions, they ended up modifying the personality of one of the main characters (THIS REALLY SUCKS) which as a consequence destroyed the force of the story.

Finally, Do I recommend this movie? well, I don't. even you didn't have read the book, the story is bad constructed, the characters wasn't good developted and you cannot connect with a story that it is not well told. If you're interested in knowing about this story, I recommend you read the book, because the movie just harmed the story.

A mí modo de ver es un efecto bien logrado que se hace con la intención de mostrar el ambiente hostil donde crecieron muchos niños. El mismo ambiente, al inicio del film, describe sentimientos generales de jóvenes que hacen vida en el lugar.

Greetings to everyone in the Movies & TV Shows community and the entire #hive platform. I've been away from the community for a while, for various reasons, but the main one being lack of time, I hadn't watched any more series, let alone movies. I was quite eager to watch some entertainment, since it is one of my only hobbies that makes me forget about my problems in life. This time I decided to watch The Tearsmith, a movie of the romance and drama genre, which as you know if you have read my previous reviews, is one of my favorites.

Maker of Tears is an Italian film that was released in this 2024 and is a Netflix adaptation based on novel under the same name by Erin Doom. This film was released ten days ago, so it is very recent and today I decided to share my opinion. This production was directed byAlessandro Genovesi, while the script was in charge of Eleonora Fiorini and Alessandro Genovesi, with the supervision of the creator of the literary work, Erin Doom. One of the things to note about this film is that the novel was the best seller in Italy in 2022, when it was published, hence the fact that the same was decided to bring it to the screens, under the distribution of Netflix. There were a lot of expectations from the fans who had read the novel, but did it meet the expectations of the viewers?

Plot

The plot of The Tear Maker tells us about two main characters, Rigel Wilde and Nica Dover, who both have in common that they are orphans and were confined in the Sunnycreek orphanage, which is run by the director, Margaret, who is a rather ruthless character who is responsible for mistreating the young people who are in that home. Some time later, Nica is finally adopted by Anna and Norman Milligan, but to the surprise of many, they also adapt Rigel, who unlike the young girl, is a rebellious boy, very proud and who almost never shows any kind of feelings. But the reality is that he is in love with Nica and that is where the story begins to unfold.

The whole story focuses on the main characters (Nica and Rigel), of course the other characters are touched to a lesser extent and that is one of the things that I can criticize the most about this film, which is the lack of development of its characters, the story is not well told, there are things that I do not understand, because everything happens very fast. First of all, I think that this adaptation would have been ideal in a series, since it would have more time to develop the characters and not in a little more than an hour and a half. The plot really has a lot of potential, it is a film that could have had a great success but above all a better overall review. The film is a drama and romance, but it is also a pretty dark story from my personal opinion and a touch of suspense that makes it very interesting, so I feel that the idea was great, but poorly executed, I had the feeling that the story lacked more depth to understand it more, as I mentioned earlier, everything happened very fast, however, in the times was very abrupt and this was the biggest problem I noticed.

En esta oportunidad decidí ver Fabricante de lágrimas, una película del género de romance y drama, que como saben si han leído mis reseñas anteriores, son de mis favoritas.
Fabricante de lágrimas es una película italiana que fue estrenada en este 2024 y es una adaptación de Netflix basada en novela bajo el mismo nombre de Erin Doom. Este filme fue lanzado hace diez días, así que es muy reciente y el día de hoy decidí compartir mi opinión. Esta producción fue dirigida porAlessandro Genovesi, mientras que el guion estuvo a cargo de Eleonora Fiorini y Alessandro Genovesi, con la supervisión del creador de la obra literaria, Erin Doom. Una de las cosas que hay que destacar de esta película es que la novela fue la más vendida en Italia en el año 2022, cuando fue publicada, de allí el hecho que la misma fue decidida llevarla a las pantallas, bajo la distribución de Netflix. Trama
La trama de Fabricante de lágrimas nos habla de dos personajes principales, Rigel Wilde y Nica Dover, que ambos tienen en común que son huérfanos y se encontraban recluidos en el orfanato Sunnycreek, quien es dirigido por la directora, Margaret, quien es un personaje bastante despiadado que se encarga de maltratar a los jóvenes que se encuentran en esa casa hogar. Un tiempo, Nica finalmente es adoptada por Anna y Norman Milligan, pero para sorpresa de muchos, también adaptan a Rigel, quien a diferencia de la joven, es un chico rebelde, muy orgulloso y que casi nunca demuestra ningún tipo de sentimientos. Toda la historia se centra en los personajes principales (Nica y Rigel), claro que se toca a los otros personajes en menor medida y es una de las cosas que más le puedo criticar a este filme, que es la falta de desarrollo a sus personajes, la historia no se ve bien contada, hay cosas que no entiendo, porque todo va pasando muy rápido. Primeramente, pienso que esta adaptación fuese ha sido ideal en una serie, ya que así se tendría un mayor tiempo en desarrollar a los personajes y no en un poco más de una hora y media. Realmente la trama posee un gran potencial, es una película que pudo tener un gran éxito pero sobre todo una mejor crítica en general. El filme es de drama y romance, pero también es una historia bastante oscura desde mi opinión personal y que un toque de suspenso que la hace muy interesante, así que siento que la idea fue genial, pero mal ejecutada, tuve la sensación que la faltó más profundidad a la historia para entenderla más, que como les mencioné anteriormente, todo pasaba muy rápido, en cambio, en los tiempos fue muy bruscos y este fue el mayor problema que noté.

*Fabricante de lágrimas es una película que ha sido bastante vista en la plataforma de Netflix, pero una cosa es las vistas que tenga y otra la opinión final de los espectadores. El filme era muy esperado por los fanáticos de la novela literaria y por los amantes del género de drama y romance juvenil, así que se entiendo el éxito que ha tenido en este aspecto de visibilidad. Pero la verdad es en cuenta a la trama y a la historia de la película, ha dejado mucho que desear por todo lo mencionado en la reseña, sobre todo por la falta de profundidad de la historia y por ende el desarrollo de los personajes.
El tema del amor es algo bastante complicado de entender en la vida real y esto queda muy bien reflejado en el filme, además que nuestra prota Nica nos va contando cosas para qué podemos entender lo que estábamos viendo, la secuencia de la historia, pero por momentos era muy confuso y es algo que me disgustó. La película, como dije, es una estupenda idea, pero fue mal ejecutada por el lado de la trama y el guion, pero por lo demás sí que está bien. Por lo visto, el final también dejó a entrever que saldrá una segunda entrega y la verdad es que a pesar de las críticas de estas, la voy a ver para ver si se mejora la historia de la misma y se le da una mayor profundidad. ¿Te la recomiendo? Basada en la historia del mismo nombre de Erin Doom, estrenada el 4 de Abril ésta película italiana nos cuenta la historia de Nica y Rigel, dos adolescentes huérfanos que han pasado toda su vida viviendo en un cruel orfanato al que suelen llamar el Grave, y que un buen día son adoptados por la misma familia. Aunque hayan convivido durante gran parte de su vida, la verdad es que ellos nunca se han llevado particularmente bien, Rigel siempre ha demostrado una actitud hostil hacía Nica, y es ésto lo que más la preocupa a ella luego de ser adoptados, sin embargo pronto descubrirá lo que hay detrás de esa hostilidad y así lograr percibir ese destello de luz que esconde en su alma atormentada.

🦋 ¿ES UNA BUENA ADAPTACIÓN? || IS IT A GOOD ADAPTATION? 🐺

Sé que siempre comienzo hablando de los protagonistas, pero la verdad es que en ésta ocasión prefiero comenzar respondiendo ésta pregunta porque al mismo tiempo me permitirá hablar de los personajes principales. Dicho ésto, la verdad es que siento que la película sí es y al mismo tiempo no es una buena adaptación, es decir, el libro consta de más de 600 páginas de las cuales a mí criterio muchas son relleno, aún así siguen siendo muchos sucesos importantes los que se debían narrar en 1 hora 45 minutos, por lo cual es fácil comprender que el tiempo sería un factor en contra para ésta adaptación, y creo justamente que ese fue el gran enemigo de ésta historia, porque efectivamente tenemos un monto de escenas que son literalmente sacadas del libro, con el mismo diálogo con el que fueron escritas, pero que se sentían muy apresuradas y con poco desarrollo, y que al menos a mí me hicieron sentir que estaba en una carrera contra reloj, pese a que tuvieron excelentes actuaciones, considero que como adaptación quisieron ser fieles a la mayor parte de los acontecimientos y en el proceso no supieron manejar la continuidad de las escenas. De hecho puedo enlistar las escenas que son tal cuál a como se describen en el libro, y que si les hubiesen dado 2 minutos más de tensión, habrían quedado perfectas 🤷🏻‍♀️, pero eso no pasó.

Nica y Rigel son en efecto el centro de la película, tanto así que si quitas al resto de personajes ni te darías cuenta de su ausencia, lo cual me frustró mucho porque es un aspecto que se convierte en punto negativo como adaptación, en el libro cada personaje que se nombra tiene mucha relevancia en la historia, algunos más que otros como es comprensible, pero todos tienen su importancia la cual aquí se perdió de forma abismal, dejándonos una película que solo gira en torno a los dos protagonistas. Considero que las actuaciones de ambos protagonistas estuvieron a la altura, aunque uno de ellos se lleva el galardón y para mí fue Rigel, no quiero decir que la actriz que interpretó a Nica no haya hecho un buen trabajo, porque de hecho hizo un gran trabajo, pero a pesar de que la película estuvo más desde su versión, siento que no la favoreció el guión, en el libro tenemos una Nica cuyo desarrollo de personaje es increíble y abismal, y aquí lastimosamente no lo tenemos, en ningún momento se logra sentir su evolución e incluso podría decir que se pierde un poco la esencia de su personaje, caso contrario a Rigel, a quien sí que le vemos cierto desarrollo y llegamos a comprender mucho más que en el libro, aunque he de decir que también se debe a cambios que se hicieron a su personaje de los cuáles hablaré como puntos positivos de la trama.

Separandonos un poco de sí la película es o no una buena adaptación, juzgandola como proyecto independiente la verdad es que sí presenta varios fallos, aunque el principal es el mismo que ya comenté, su gran enemigo es el tiempo y se nota muchísimo en la continuidad de las escenas, es una historia que se siente sumamente apresurada y en donde todo pasa demasiado rápido, y obviamente lo común en situaciones así es que el final se sienta que llega de imprevisto y nada creíble, lo cual efectivamente pasa. El inicio de la historia considero que tiene un ritmo aceptable, pero conforme nos acercamos al desenlace todo deja de tener sentido, hay grandes cambios en la trama que no se manejan de la mejor manera y que a mí parecer dañan mucho la historia, hay vacíos en la historia que son importantes sobre todo para quienes ven la película sin siquiera conocer el libro, es más hay una parte de la historia de Rigel en el final que nunca se aclara y que es de suma importancia, y todo ésto sin contar con el desperdicio de personajes que hay, y de hecho para antes de hacer éste post consulte con amigas que vieron la película pero no leyeron el libro, y llegamos justamente a la misma conclusión, lo cual ratifica los aspectos que aquí menciono.

🦋 ASPECTOS POSITIVOS || POSITIVE POINTS 🐺

Aunque podría parecer que todo en ésta película está mal, la verdad es que no, sí tiene sus aciertos y son justamente esos los que me hicieron disfrutarla, porque la verdad es que sí disfrute la película tanto así que perfectamente podría verla de nuevo sin problema alguno, y es que a pesar de todos sus puntos negativos, sus puntos positivos justamente compensaron aquellos elementos que no me habían gustado del libro, el primordial para mí es que hicieron a Rigel menos tóxico, es más podría decir que le quitaron por completo esa toxicidad que tanto me molestaba del libro, aquí lo hicieron ver más como un personaje atormentado por su pasado y con un poco más de responsabilidad afectiva, el cambio que le dieron a su relación con Adeline fue grandioso y lo agradezco enormemente, además de eso la película conserva su narración tan poética y metafórica, lo cual la hace diferente al resto de películas adolescentes hormonales (porque si, ésta también lo es 🤣). Aún así el aspecto de mayor relevancia en éste apartado y por el cual digo que no es una mala película, es por la forma en que se narran y transmiten todos los acontecimientos que se viven en el orfanato, cada escena que hace alusión a ésto se lleva un 10/10, yo no soy de llorar con películas/series/libros, y aún así puedo decir que nada más comenzó la película yo sabía que serían justamente esas escenas las que me llegarían al corazón, y no me equivoque 💔.

Creo que ésta película es un claro ejemplo de porqué a veces es mejor apostar por mini series, tenían todo para hacer una increíble adaptación, pero sencillamente no se escogió el formato adecuado y eso les jugó mucho en contra, aún así les recomiendo verla y formarse su propia opinión porque al menos yo la disfrute lo suficientemente como para verla por segunda vez, y créanme hay ciertas adaptaciones con las que no me pasa (no diré cuales pero háganse una idea).
