Utilizando este problema social para crear un thriller de supervivencia, como dice el título de la película y se puede ver en el trailer. Dos personajes de mundos diferentes, que deben unirse para sobrevivir en medio de un entorno salvaje, donde sus vidas correrán un gran peligro.
La historia es sencilla, pero conmovedora gracias al guión que hace que nos preocupemos por sus personajes. Las interpretaciones son creíbles, al igual que las peligrosas situaciones a las que se enfrentan. Una persecución en la que sólo el instinto de supervivencia es lo único que puede mantenerlos con vida.
Samuel is a man dealing with a recent loss. Tragedy has knocked at his door and he seems to be in pain. A strong and calm man, he is determined to put an end to the pain. He has a pessimistic view of life to which he finds no meaning.
Chehreh is a brave, intelligent woman, ready to do anything to reach her destination, to feel the sense of freedom that a first world country offers her. Denis Ménochet, el fabuloso actor francés del que hablé cuando reseñé la película española As Bestas, es el encargado de interpretar a Samuel. Actor de gran estatura física, se impone en la pantalla y me gusta. Quiero ver más producciones con este actor en el papel principal y parece que está recibiendo bastantes ofertas de trabajo.
La fenomenal actriz iraní Zar Amir-Ebrahimi interpreta a Chehreh. Es otro acierto de casting, ya que se trata de una actriz con un aspecto físico frágil, pero su mirada transmite mucha confianza. Destacó en la película Holy Spider, que también reseñé este año y donde demostró sus grandes dotes interpretativas con un papel duro en una película con un tema fuerte. Es otra actriz a la que quiero ver en muchas películas y proyectos internacionales.
Les survivants (título original) es una producción francesa, lo que adquiere una relevancia añadida. Si ha estado atento a las noticias, sabrá de las recientes manifestaciones que sacudieron Francia, por lo que el tema de la inmigración ilegal es algo que enciende pasiones tanto para los que están a favor como para los que están en contra.
Aunque la película se centra más en el drama de la supervivencia. La ópera prima del cineasta Guillaume Renusson no escapa al postureo político, que para mí es el único defecto de la película. El director, que también coescribió el guión, envía un mensaje progre al pintar a todos los inmigrantes ilegales de la película como demasiado buenos, cuando la realidad es que en toda esta masa de gente en busca de una vida mejor, hay gente buena y mala.
White Paradise es un drama de supervivencia que utiliza la inmigración ilegal como punto de partida de una historia entretenida. La recomiendo para pasar un buen rato y disfrutar de las buenas interpretaciones de los protagonistas.
