The excuse to bring these characters together is a competition on an island. The international gastronomy association organized a tournament. Where the winner would get the legendary Juicatte meat. In my opinion, I think the premise was a great success. Considering that both Goku, Luffy and Toriko love food and are very gluttonous. Without a doubt, it was an excellent way to bring these characters together.

What I want to highlight about this crossover is the chemistry between the main characters. It felt very natural and not at all forced. Really, it was nice to see these characters interact with each other.

I felt this not only with the main characters, but also with the secondary and even tertiary characters. Everything feels so comfortable. They could even make a separate series and it would be fine.

I was very surprised by the number of characters they used for this special. They didn't skimp at all in this regard. For example, I was surprised to see Ox Satan (Chi-Chi's father) and Yajirobei. Which are very non-recurring Dragon Ball characters. Basically, they took full advantage of the cast of the series.

Me sorprendió muchísimo la cantidad de personajes que utilizaron para este especial. No escatimaron para nada en este sentido. Por ejemplo, a mí me llamó la atención ver a Ox Satán (el padre de Chi-Chi) y Yajirobei. Que son personajes muy poco recurrentes de Dragón Ball. Básicamente, aprovecharon al máximo el elenco de las series.

As for the audiovisual aspects, I have no complaints. The animation is quite good, you can tell they put a lot of love into it. To the point that there are some shots that are tremendous. The music and the soundtrack are good. I think it lived up to the event. I can't complain at all.

I have to admit something that makes me cringe. Before watching this special, I didn't have the slightest idea of Toriko's existence. I don't know if it's a good series or if it has much popularity within this world, but this crossover I watched without knowing 1/3 of the characters. Toriko should probably be a great anime. I don't think just anyone can collaborate with Goku and Luffy 🤣.

In conclusion, this crossover is totally worth it and absolutely recommended. I'm sure that anyone who knows and/or has enjoyed these 3 series will really enjoy watching this special.

It's fun, has a good dose of comedy and humor, the action is good and leaves you very satisfied at the end. My verdict for this special is an 8/10. It exceeded my expectations.

Se eu tivesse que resumir o manga toriko em três palavras, será: "comida", "luta" e "badass" !!!

Os protagonistas vivem em um mundo governado por alimentos onde a comida é rei. É chamado de "mundo gourmet". Podemos seguir o caráter de komatsu, um cozinheiro com talentos escondidos, sempre em busca de alimentos de primeira escolha. Nós também seguimos toriko, um caçador gourmet. Ele caça comida com sua extraordinária força e com a ajuda de suas células gourmet;)

Este manga mergulha em um universo onde os fãs de Shonen se encontrarão facilmente. Para aqueles que amam manga com ação e quem gosta de boa comida: é o mangá que você precisa!

Se houver pessoas interessadas e / ou ainda hesitantes em embarcar no anime ou no manga, planejo fazer uma breve revisão em cada tomo da manga Toriko.

About

Toriko is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro. It was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from May 2008 to November 2016 and published by Shueisha. Toriko was adapted into an anime series by Toei Animation from 2011 to 2014 running a total of 147 episodes.

Thoughts

I came to know of Toriko in 2011 when One Piece did a special crossover with the characters in Toriko. I have to admit I wasn't a big fan of the grotesquely over the top character designs. Muscles all over, big noses, over proportioned body. It wasn't an anime you'll watch if you're too picky on how the characters are presented. But when I've heard that Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro(Toriko) was a good and close friend of Eiichiro Oda(One Piece). My curiosity was piqued. I really do like Oda's writing, so maybe this guy is as good as Oda too. And boy Toriko did not disappoint me.

To start off, don't let the preview of Toriko fool you. While food is the main focus of the show, it's not simply a cooking contest, it's way better than that. The story takes place during the Gourmet Age where Food is above all other things. Delicious foods can start wars and even end one. Discovering an unknown ingredient is praised upon. Hodling rare ingredients is a must to gain and stay in power.

The story starts with Toriko, a famous gourmet hunter together with his cook Komatsu as they try to discover and hunt rare undiscovered ingredients in the wild. Toriko's main goal is to complete his full course menu, which constitutes the top 8 favored dish of a gourmet hunter. This simplistic concept is probably the main reason why early viewers drop the show added with the main characters over the top super human strength it's just hard to take the show seriously. But I believe that was a part of Toriko's charm, Toriko is a pretty straightforward shounen series where a monster (ingredient) appears, gets defeated by the main character, and then another stronger one comes along. This might seem a little cliche, but this is the kind of cliche where every anime lover who loves action is just drawn to.

Oviously Toriko is not all about hunting and defeating monsters. Like every shounen anime there is, things start to get interesting when an unkown and powerful organization is involved behind the scenes. This is when Toriko really starts. Everything seems to move forward, the plot starts to get deeper and complex in a positive way. The way the show handle things at this point is also remarkable seeing as nothing seems to be out of control. The battle scenes are just perfect, not that short also not that long. A little comedy is thrown once in a while making the show refreshing and fun to binge watch. The music is good but almost forgettable.

Overall, Toriko is a fun and entertaining show to watch. It's not your typical anime where the main characters are teens or good looking guys to attract more audience. Despite starting as a simplistic concept, the plot evolves into a deep and complex story which is worth looking forward to. The way the legendary characters are introduced in such a way as to create a big impact and not overwhelm the audience is astounding. If you actually like action shounen series, then I'm pretty sure you'll definitely love Toriko.

Si je devais resumer la manga toriko en trois mot ce serai: nourriture, bagarre et badass!!!

Les protagonistes vivent dans un monde régit par la nourriture où les aliments sont rois. On l'appelle "le monde gourmet". On peut suivre le personnage de komatsu, un cuisinier avec des talents cachés, toujours à la recherche d'aliments de 1er choix. Nous suivons également toriko, un gourmet hunter. Il chasse les aliments grace à sa force hors du commun et avec l'aide de ses cellules gourmets ;)

Ce manga nous plonge dans un univers où les fans de shonen se retrouveront facilement. Pour ceux qui aiment les mangas avec de l'action, et qui aiment la bonne bouffe: c'est le manga qu'il vous faut!!!

Si il y a des personnes qui sont intéressées et/ou qui hésitent encore à se lancer dans l'animé ou le manga, je prévois de faire une courte review sur chaque tome du manga toriko.

Je n'ai qu'une seule chose à vous dire, lancez vous dans cette aventure vous ne serez pas déçus ;)
