  1. Review Tougen Anki : Oni vs Momotaro👹[Eng/Esp]@valsalazar185d

    Hello, anime lovers!

I hope you are all well. For me and for those of you from Venezuela, it has been chaotic these last few days because the president has been taken away and the US government will apparently take over now. I was the first to find out at home, as I stayed up all night watching an anime called Tougen Anki.

    image.png

    Prime Video

And although I couldn't continue watching it because I was watching the news, this is what I thought of what I saw. Tougen Anki is an anime series featuring supernatural action, drama, and violence, which tells the legendary battle between the Oni (demons) and the Momotaro (Oni hunters).

Apparently, centuries ago, the Oni tormented and killed humans until a legendary hunter named Momotaro confronted them. Now, many years later, the descendants of the Oni (humans with Oni blood) must survive the descendants of Momotaro (who reproduce rapidly), as they hunt them indiscriminately, even if they are only teenagers or children.

Such is the case with Shiki Ichinose, a very rebellious, rude young man with a disturbing taste for weapons for a teenager. In the very first chapter, he is attacked by a descendant of Momotaro, who seeks to kill him, but he is saved by his father, who also reveals himself to be a descendant of Momotaro, who resigned from the Momotaro agency to be Shiki's father.

But Shiki's father is killed, and Shiki goes into a frenzy in which he almost kills his father's murderer, but the murderer leaves, and Shiki is taken away by Naito Mudano, a descendant of oni like Shiki.

I thought the anime was good; it reminded me a little of Kimetsu no Yaiba, because of the theme of hunters and demons, but Tougen Anki goes in a different direction. The battles are good, dynamic and stylised, with dramatic angles and slow motion for added drama and impressionism. Although there are parts that I feel are clumsily animated.

As a character, I find Shiki somewhat petulant, aggressive, irreverent, and rebellious, traits that are not always seen in protagonists, who tend to be more friendly and affable, but Shiki comes across as the chaotic type of teenager, though not with a bad heart.

From what I've seen so far, the anime is a classic shonen and somewhat predictable, with all the clichés that the general public likes to see and that keeps anime like this being made because it's what fans of this genre like to see, even if the formula is the same.

But overall, I think it's fine. It's one of those anime that you feel you've seen before and that people continue to watch because it's still appealing to them, although if you want something innovative and original, you won't find it here. This is a "shonen classic" and, although it may have its moments, that's its essence.

Besides, I read somewhere that a second season has been confirmed, so it seems that the first season managed to build a stable fan base, enough to warrant a sequel. But, as I've always thought, in shōnen that's almost a given.

  2. (ESP-ENG) Tougen Anki | Blood as a weapon - Anime Review!@javyeslava.photo190d

Hello friends, good vibes to all.

Hola amigos, buenas vibras para todos.

Another anime that's wrapping up its season is Tougen Anki. Specifically, it did so last week with its 24th episode, leaving me with more positive than negative feelings. This dark shōnen anime arrived a few months ago, presenting us with a long-standing rivalry between the Oni (people with demon blood) and the Momotaro (Oni hunters). Initially, one of the strongest criticisms this anime received was its animation, as it overused CGI, making some scenes look very out of place and exaggerated. As the episodes progressed, I think I got used to it because in the end, it wasn't something that bothered me too much; the truth is, it doesn't look that bad.

Basically, the plot is as described above: two clans are trying to survive against each other. It all begins with Shiki Ichinose, a young man who discovers too late that he has Oni blood after the death of his father, a Momotaro who secretly raised him. This loss awakens a hidden power in Shiki, a power stemming from his blood type, which is not only Oni but also from a much more powerful lineage. From this point on, the Momotaro decide to embark on a kind of crusade to find Ichinose and eliminate him before it's too late and his power kills innocent people. The main theme here is the misconception that Oni are insensitive and ruthless, which is not the case; they are human, just like anyone else.

Since Shiki is unable to control his powers, he enrolls in a kind of school where Oni receive training to improve their combat skills. It's there that he meets the rest of the group and their teacher, Naito Mudano, one of the standout characters of this season. The entire plot is essentially a chase between the two groups, featuring several confrontations that bring these 24 episodes to life. I think what sets this anime apart from other Shōnen series is how raw, violent, and gory it is. Blood is the instrument the Oni use to fight and defend themselves, so there's a lot of it in the scenes, making everything more visually striking. It might be a bit over the top at times, but you understand why, because blood is another key element.

The characters are all unique because there's such a wide variety. There are the mentally broken ones, those who are unbalanced and usually stand out for their laughter and tone of voice; the calm and methodical ones; the cowards; those filled with anger and resentment; and of course, the good people. It's a very diverse group. This allows for comedy to have its place; there are some very funny scenes that provide a bit of a counterpoint to the excessive violence on display. Each character has their own backstory, which is presented to them so we can become familiar with them. It's the same old story: sometimes you even find yourself empathizing with the worst of them all.

The fight scenes are good; we're back to the issue of excessive CGI, but I don't think it's a disaster. The last fight of the season was quite decent, the best in my opinion, which is why it ended so well. While there's an apparent superficiality in some characters, it's also true that others are given a lot of context, personal relationships within the story, and an emotional depth that makes everything feel deeper and cooler. In fact, there's a friendship that's the catalyst for the second part of the anime. In the end, they manage to balance things out so there's a little bit of everything. The second season has already been confirmed, which is definitely good news. Violence, cruelty, good characters, lots of blood, and animation that meets the minimum requirements. I recommend it; I think it's an anime worth watching. I'll leave the trailer below.

  3. Tougen Anki: An Addictive Brutal Anime - When Oni Blood Becomes a Deadly Weapon and an Unavoidable Burden of Life@agungprasetyo297d

    Source (Edit by incollage app)

‎Have you ever watched an anime and immediately thought, “Wow, this is really creepy, but why do I want to keep watching?” Well, that's how I felt when I watched Tougen Anki. This anime is no ordinary show...it successfully blends classic Japanese mythology with brutal action that makes your heart race. ‎

A Storyline That Will Keep You Hooked

‎ ‎Imagine suddenly finding out that you have demon blood running through your veins. It's not just cool , but it also comes with serious consequences. That's what happened to Shiki Ichinose... our protagonist , whose life changed 180 degrees after finding out he was a descendant of Oni. ‎ ‎What sets this story apart from other supernatural anime is the way they raise the character's internal conflict. Shiki doesn't immediately accept his fate with open arms. Instead, he struggles, gets angry, confused, and sometimes regrets it. It's exactly like the reaction of a normal human being who is suddenly given such a heavy burden.

The conflict between clans involving blood inheritance isn't just a sweetener. Every battle has a strong reason, every enemy has a reasonable motivation. So it's not just meaningless fighting.

    Characters with Soul

‎ ‎Shiki is indeed a temperamental main character, but that is precisely where his strength lies. He is not portrayed as a perfect or cool hero. In fact, he is like a typical teenager : emotional, stubborn, but with a strong conscience. ‎ ‎The supporting characters are also equally interesting. Each has a deep background and clear motivations. None of them are just there to fill out the story. Even the enemies are given enough screen time to make the audience understand their point of view...

Eye-Catching Visuals That Keep You on the Edge of Your Seat🤩!

I have to admit , the animation studio behind Tougen Anki really knows how to create action scenes that stick in your mind. The dominant blood-red color isn't just an aesthetic choice, but also a way for them to show the intensity of the emotions and conflicts that occur...

Each fight is packaged with smooth choreography and visual effects that are not excessive but still impressive. What I like most is that they don't rely solely on gore to make the scenes interesting , but really focus on the substance of the fight.

Why is this anime worth your time?

Tougen Anki successfully presents a rare combination: brutal but meaningful action, family drama that isn't over the top, and deep character exploration. If you've followed Tokyo Ghoul or Jujutsu Kaisen and like the dark atmosphere but still have a human side, this anime will definitely be to your taste. What also impressed me was how they brought Japanese mythology to life without it feeling forced or like a mere label. The concepts of Oni and blood inheritance are smoothly integrated into the modern plot.

Bottom Line: Tougen Anki isn't just your average action anime that relies on spectacular fights. It has soul, it has a message, and most importantly—it has a unique way of making you think while enjoying a show that is definitely worth watching. If you're looking for an anime that can give you a complete viewing experience, this is the answer.

Trust me, after watching the first episode, you'll immediately understand why this anime deserves to be on your watchlist.

  4. Anime Review: Tougen Anki~Dark Demon of Paradise@seunruth310d

Tougen: Anki grabbed my ribs and shook me. What struck me right away is how unapologetically real it is. It doesn’t hold your hand, doesn’t soften the edges, it just drops you into this war between humans and demons, and suddenly you’re face-to-face with Shiki, this boy who’s carrying way more weight than anyone his age should. And the thing is, you feel that weight.

There is this one scene-I will not spoil the set up but when Shiki is forced to learn the truth about his parentage, I tell you, someone punched the floor out of my footing. Not because it is some shocking anime twist (though it is), but because of how human his reaction was. Rage, sorrow, the almost infantile feeling of having been betrayed. I was sitting there thinking God, I have felt that before. Not in the half-demon sense of course, but in the way life blinds you and you realise that nothing is as safe or simple as you thought.

And then--because Tougen: Anki knows how to counteract the heavy with the light--there is this breath of humor, these almost awkward, human moments between the characters that made me laugh out loud. The show reminds you of this: the fate here is life and death, but these are still children on their way of self-discovery. The contrast helps to make the darker areas much more impactful tenfold

The animation? Gorgeous. The battle scenes are fluid, but the scenes that really stuck with me, were the quiet moments, the way that merely a look across the battlefield says more than a hundred strikes of a sword. Then there is the score. There is this creepy, thundering beat that runs under some of the most intense moments and it creeped under my skin.

However, the thing is that it has lingered in my head long after the credits were over not due to the battles, or even the world-building (though both are good), but because it made me question the issue of survival, identity, and feeling the burden of something that is not yours fully. The fight that Shiki is involved in is not only external, it is the type of internal battle that makes one pause and question what aspects of themselves they would fight to keep in the event that everything around them altered.

  5. (ESP-ENG) We need to talk about Tougen Anki - First Impressions!@javyeslava.photo316d

    **

Hello friends, good vibes to all.

    **

Hola amigos, buenas vibras para todos.

    Source!

Summer is usually a time when we see new things, and last week's episode was proof of that when I talked about Gachiakuta. This time, I'm here to do the same with a shonen show that seems to be on everyone's mind right now: Tougen Anki, which is here to show us the eternal struggle between the Oni (people with demonic blood) and the Momotaro (Oni hunters). Since this is an anime that will air for more than five months, given its 24 episodes, I'm keen to form an opinion after having seen just over a third of the season (7 episodes) so far, and then compare my expectations from this point on with the season finale.

As I said, this story is based on a conflict that began hundreds of years ago between the Oni and the Momotaro. The Oni, knowing their danger and the potential consequences of their blood, decided to live peacefully apart from everyone else until one day the Momotaro burst in and destroyed the peace they had once enjoyed. From then on, there was never a truce between them, to the point where each group formed an agency to be more united and prepared for any confrontation that might arise at any time. Along with all of this, we have Shiki Ichinose, a young man who learns he has Oni blood the day his father is murdered at the hands of a Momotaro.

    Source!

    Source!

From that moment on, something in Shiki changes forever, and he decides to join the Oni, solely for the purpose of becoming stronger, searching for the man who killed his father, and exacting revenge. Does this remind us of anything in particular? Well, yes, of the vast majority of shonen anime out there. The goal of this review is to try to figure out whether this anime has a future or not, and I ask myself that question because, having only seen seven episodes, I can say both good things and not-so-good things. The anime is entertaining; if you like action and flashy fights, this is for you. The plot is super familiar to everyone at this point; it can be a bit generic, but I still think there's always room for surprises. There's the famous rule of the first three episodes: if you watch them and don't get bored, keep watching. So far, that hasn't happened with me, and I've already watched more than double the number of episodes.

What didn't I like much? - The CGI. I'm not a big fan of CGI, especially when it's so noticeable, and all the fights in this anime are based on this element. The animation itself isn't as disastrous as I've read, but it's true that the fights can be a bit lacking. Still, they're still very striking because the powers the protagonists display are usually very interesting. Great anime throughout history started at a very similar level to this; Kimetsu no Yaiba itself is a prime example, only to take off and become the monstrosity they eventually became.

    Source!

    Source!

Another super characteristic of this anime are its characters, and they're all typical. The protagonist, Shiki, is an inexperienced fool who lets his emotions get the better of him but occasionally unleashes his power and surprises everyone. The teacher is a man of few words, hateful, and just wants everyone to work as a team and get along. And the other members, among whom stand out the troublemaker who thinks he's more powerful than everyone else, the shy girl who hides immense hidden power, and the intellectual with glasses who boasts his calmness and intelligence. The two most powerful women are, to no one's surprise, super well-endowed (this might interest @promete0sz 😂), but it's impossible not to notice. Beyond their physical appearance, these characters are very interesting because of the powers they possess.

Well, we have an anime that's a bit more of the same, but it has a lot of potential. The manhwa has about 20 volumes, so we're only seeing a small part of its story. I know there are only seven chapters and forming an informed opinion is difficult, but overall, so far, it's decent. I'll keep watching it, and of course, I recommend it to everyone. There's action drama, more than expected, comedy, and lots of blood, but too much of it. If you're watching, let me know what you think in the comments.

  6. Rage, Blood and Chaos 🩸 Review Tougen Anki: Dark Demon of Paradise@alienpunklord362d

Welcome to another post here in the community.

Tougen Anki: Dark Demon of Paradise. I don't know if you've heard of it yet, but it's starting to gain some buzz, especially among those who enjoy a darker vibe in action anime. I decided to watch it on a whim, with zero expectations, just because I saw some cool art floating around on X. And honestly, the visual style grabs your attention right away. But since style isn’t everything, I decided to write down my honest thoughts what I liked, what bothered me, and why I think Tougen Anki has potential... if it doesn't lose its way.

    image.png

The anime follows Shiki Ichinose, a hot-headed boy full of bottled-up anger who keeps getting into fights. Right in the first episodes, he finds out he’s a descendant of a race called Oni, who have supernatural blood-based powers.

These Oni are at war with the Momotarou, a kind of "hunter" whose mission is to exterminate the Oni.

The idea is clearly inspired by Japanese mythology, like the legend of Momotarō, the Peach Boy, but here everything is more modern, violent, and stylized. It really gives off a Tokyo Ghoul or Jujutsu Kaisen vibe. If you're into that dark aesthetic with blood flying and powers born out of pain, you're in for a treat. The original manga is by Yura Urushibara and has been published in Weekly Shōnen Champion since 2020. The animation was handled by Bug Films, the same studio behind Zom 100. Visually, they did a great job the linework is solid, the color palette fits the tone of the story, and the fight scenes have flair.

    image.png image.png

    The fights are really good.

They’ve got impact, speed, and a kind of brutality that doesn’t feel gratuitous it matches the tone of the series. The blood-based abilities look awesome. Honestly, that was a standout feature for me it reminded me of Deadman Wonderland, but with a more controlled execution.

Shiki, even though he's your typical impulsive protagonist, actually surprised me at times. He has trauma, internal conflicts, and little by little, he shows he’s more than just raw anger. He felt like a mix of Kaneki (from Tokyo Ghoul) with a touch of Yuuji Itadori but with a lot more pent-up rage.

I also liked the world they’re building.

The whole thing about bloodlines, clans, and the Oni vs. Momotarou hunt has a lot of potential.

You can tell the universe has depth and room to grow, which is always a plus.

Unfortunately, Tougen Anki suffers from that classic issue of a rushed start. Seriously, it feels like they dumped the entire plot on us in just three episodes. New characters showing up, flashbacks, secret organizations, training arcs, drama all crammed together. It makes it hard to form a real emotional connection with what’s going on. Another thing that bugged me was the lack of time for side characters to shine. Naito Mudano, for example, seemed like he’d have a major role, but then he just disappeared. A lot of people show up and vanish without leaving any impression, which is a shame.

There are also a few scenes trying too hard to be emotional like “oh no, this death was so sad” but they don’t really land because we didn’t have time to care about the character.

Tougen Anki has a lot of potential, especially if you enjoy bloodier stories, clan rivalries, unique powers, and a dark aesthetic. But it’s worth approaching with patience, knowing it’s still finding its footing. If the upcoming episodes slow things down a bit and let the characters breathe, I think it could grow into a strong name in the genre. I don’t know if it’ll stand toe-to-toe with Demon Slayer or Chainsaw Man, but it’s a solid bet for anyone who enjoys adrenaline and a little chaos.

With 2024 ending, I couldn't help but to look forward to the new animes that will air in 2025. Several mangas that I've read before got animated these past few years, and strangely, it somehow made me feel really old. Like the time was really fast because it feels like yesterday when I read KNY, CSM, Ao no Exorcist (Shimane Illuminati Arc), Dandadan, and Bleach TBYW—and now they have been animated. But there's a certain manga that I've started reading the same time I started Dandadan, and this is the one that will have its anime adaptation in 2025. So join me as I share with you a brief peek at one of the animes I'm anticipating this upcoming 2025: Tougen Anki

    About the Anime:

    IMG_20241215_200207.jpg

Tougen Anki is adapted from the shounen manga series written by Yura Urushibara. Its genres are action, fantasy, and it has a little drama (or a tad more perhaps). Its main theme is mythology since it deals with oni and stuff close to them. Its manga was published in AKITASHOTEN's Weekly Shōnen Champion, and the last time I read it, it had 100+ chapters (probably 200+ by now if I'm not mistaken)

So it's story started with the introduction of its MC, Shiki Ichinose, who was obviously a good-for-nothing student at the time. He was really a reckless and fight-loving boy, and because of that, he didn't get fazed when he got expelled (again) from his school. It's really apparent that he's in his rebellious phase at that time, but despite his crappy attitude, his foster father still cares for him. However, in the middle of their small squabble, they got interrupted when a sudden explosion happened.

Quite lost and confused, Shiki struggled to grasp what was happening, and it was too late when he finally got the whole picture of it. Tsuyoshi, his foster father, soon engages in deadly battle with his former comrade in Momotarou—an organization that hunts oni. Unfortunately, Tsuyoshi was defeated with him, but even if he's on the ground, he refuses to give up and let Shiki be killed. Witnessing Tsuyoshi get hurt for his sake, Shiki snapped out and finally awakened his oni's blood. However, he can't control it well, so he ended up letting his guard down, and his opponent took that as an opportunity. But in the end, Tsuyoshi took the stab that was supposed to be for him.

After seeing his father die in his arms, Shiki vowed to get stronger so that he could avenge him. Together with other young onis, they will hone further their demonic blood so that they can survive in the world where demons are hated and purged.

Aside from the announcement of its anime adaptation in 2025, there are no further announcements about its specific release date (yet). The official trailer and some of the VAs were already revealed, and knowing who'll voice them got me more excited. The MC, Shiki Ichinose, will be voiced by Kazuki Ura, Mudano Naito will be voiced by Hiroshi Kamiya and Jin Kougasaki will be voiced by Koutarou Nishiyama. I don't know if this is just a mere coincidence, but Mudano's VA is also Mephisto's VA also... so what's the fuss, gette? Well, well, well, I already shared about it on one of my Manga Mondays comments, but anyway, I'll share it once again.

So I noticed—I think it's not only me—but also some (or many, I guess) that Tougen Anki and Ao no Exorcist's beginning was kinda similar. From the death of their foster fathers to the appearance of the cool men (with umbrellas, lol) who'll later help the MC improve—they're really similar! And I really squealed when I discovered the VA who'll voice Mudano is also Mephisto's VA. Their entrance and role in the MC's life were also similar, so I was left wondering if this is really a coincidence or not? But anyway, whether it's coincidence or not, I'm definitely looking forward to knowing who'll voice other characters, especially my second favorite character, Rokuro (Mudano's the first, of 'course). I really like how this boy improved as the story progressed, and I like how cool he looks in his blood eclipse release (kyahhhhhhh).

Enough with my ramblings, so if you're into shounen manga who have cool MC and interesting plot, then you definitely need to try reading Tougen Anki's manga, and if you like it, then be with me as we together wait for its anime adaptation in 2025! But before I'll really end this review, I'll share with you its trailer, so—
