A story of thieves and bounty hunters? - I'm definitely interested. Here we are again watching a movie without having seen the anime before and Trigun is one of 26 episodes. Fortunately, you don't have to watch it to understand and enjoy this crazy, action-packed film. I find it amazing to explore these things, and many times one refrains from watching a movie just because it belongs to a specific anime that we haven't seen. Trigun is an action story, as I said, with comedy and maybe a touch of fiction. What I can tell you is that it is super entertaining.

Una historia de ladrones y cazarrecompensas? - definitivamente me interesa.

This story begins with a bank robbery carried out by Gasbag, a dangerous thief whom Vash, our protagonist, let go. To be understood Vash is a kind of vigilante who shares two personalities, that of a harmless fool and that of an extremely lethal guy but who is overly pacifistic. It was this characteristic that caused Gasback to flee and the plot to kick off 20 years later. It turns out that there is a town, Macca, where its mayor is offering 300 million for the head of this thief (there is history between this mayor and the thief) and he knows that he will most likely show up there soon.

The thing is that the city in question is filled with bounty hunters when the news of what is asked for the head of Gasbag is known. Among them is a woman named Amelie, she is a key part of the story and at the end of it we will know things that give an unexpected twist to the plot. The movie itself is super fun to watch, it has a lot of funny interactions that when combined with the action that emerges suddenly always end up turning out pretty well. The movie in the hour and a half that lasts does not bore you because at all times things are happening, there is always a fight, a shooting, an argument, everything can be very chaotic and funny at the same time.

As I said before, the film has an interesting plot twist towards the end which makes the story have a little more depth. When you watch the movie you can notice that some characters know each other, maybe this comes from the anime but when it comes to developing this plot it doesn't affect anything for its understanding, you can see that there is some lore but not knowing it doesn't affect the enjoyment of the story. It also happens because here you are given the necessary context to understand everyone that appears on screen so you won't be lost or lost. The plot is super linear and basic, like anything action-packed, you know exactly what's going to happen and maybe how it's going to end.

What drives the story? - I would say revenge. Gasbag's revenge for what happened 20 years ago, the mayor's revenge for the past he has with this thief, Amelie's motivations which are very valid and personal and Vash's to finish what he couldn't do in that bank 20 years ago. All this makes the story never falters. As for the animation, it is in charge of Madhouse, personally I like very much what this studio does, at times it is very classic with their designs but also they always make everything very fluid and dynamic to watch. The action scenes are very top notch and the facial expressions are very well done, I pay a lot of attention to that.

A great movie, if you like action, mayhem, hundreds of thieves misbehaving doing what they want, shootings, chases, beatings and at the same time a very fresh comedy then this film is for you. It has it all. It makes me want to watch the anime and everything. 100% recommended. I leave you the trailer below, have you seen this anime? - If so, let me know in the comments.

  2. Trigun Stampede (2023, 12 episodes)@onlyjob475d

Derivative unfaithful to original material, with added elements from Dune (e.g. giant sand worms). Unlike original "Trigun" (1998) and "Trigun - Badlands Rumble" movie (2010), this show is devoid of humour, style, adventure, character development, and everything that could make it worth watching. No continuity of the story either.

This show sells transhumanism, helplessness and despair, with grotesque drama and violence (e.g. young girls ripped apart limb by limb, with a lot of blood; supporting character killed just for dramatic effect, etc.). Absurdity of the story is excessive (e.g. "Matrix" for intelligent plants, encased in glass jars to produce energy.). Viewers need much suspension of disbelief, and motivation for effort to do so.

Scientist experiment on orphans children to enhance them with drugs and mechanical implants. Lab-grown fetuses. Merging man with machines.

Antagonist is revealed as extreme environmentalist who wants to eradicate humanity to save plants. Protagonist is miserable, pathetic and weak. People die due to his actions. (In original series protagonist is completely different, cool and strong, often saving people.)

Incredibly, even graphics looks worse than quarter of century old original series (e.g. ugly main character's prosthetic arm). It would have been a bad show on its own, but comparing to prior "Trigun" it is actually awful.

Free our brethren from the foul humans.

For the sake of creating a new human race, I would pay any price.

(1998, 26 episodes)@onlyjob477d

Excellent for what it is, which is grotesque action-adventure comedy in a wild-west-like sci-fi world. Soundtrack matches the graphics style perfectly, creating a right atmosphere. Entertaining. Funny insurance girls (supporting characters). Interesting protagonist with unexpected morality trait. Moral dilemmas arising from his principal moral position are thoroughly explored. As the show progresses, comedy gradually gives way to drama as story becomes more serious and more tragic. Sci-fi component is weak but it does not overwhelm the story.

    Pretty good.

    "Love and peace!"

Hello everyone, dear community of The Anime Realm. I hope you are feeling great.. I want to talk to you today about a new anime, this time I will give you my opinions of the series: Trigun Stampede.. an anime that I would name with only one phrase: curious. This series was like discovering new layers in a story that you already knew, but in a way that you didn't expect.. from the beginning, I think that any old fan of this anime can feel a lot of nostalgia, I personally hadn't seen it complete, I had seen it in small parts, the previous version.. and that's why I decided to give it a chance... I think it can satisfy in a good way the fans of the original series, but more importantly, it can attract a new audience in a very pleasant way.. the story introduces us to Vash, who is known to be the human typhoon, or something like that.. in this version it gives a more philosophical touch to his character, I felt him much more deep and reflective... For me this series is not just action and adventure, here we get to know Vash much more.. his character development is amazing, unlike many other action or adventure anime, where the supporting characters can seem flat or just decorative, this series gives each main character a clear purpose and a unique world view, both Vash and his companions are having a quite interesting character development....
I felt that they are all there with a specific intention, they have some pretty deep foundations that certainly add a lot to the dynamics of the story and make us the viewers can connect with them much more... Wolfwood, in particular, stands out a lot because of his moral struggles and the weight of his past... this specific character is clear that he is not just there to support Vash, but has his own path to follow, his own demons and his own decisions to make... The antagonists are also well developed, they offer interesting perspectives that blur the basic line between good and evil, they are not completely black or white.. I found myself empathizing many times with these characters...although superficially they may seem like typical villains, they have some depth that went a long way in introducing us to characters that are quite different from what we are used to.

Although I must tell you that the first few episodes are a bit challenging in terms of pacing, I'll tell you that right off the bat, as the story throws some things at you a bit quickly... characters, locations, sudden events, and it can feel like a wave of information that you don't quite understand. I may find this difficult for some people and not allow them to get hooked right into the story...I feel like it felt a little rushed the way things were told...that they tried to cover a lot of ground in very few episodes. I think that makes it a little difficult for viewers to understand all the context that's going on and you have to keep a close eye on things so you don't get lost, but after this rushed start, things do settle down...
Soon the story reaches a proper pace, it takes a more balanced pace and allows us to connect more with the characters on a deeper level.. and we get into the plot and the objectives of the main characters in a good way, I think it's really worth going through those first episodes because the narrative developments are quite rewarding... As for the animation, Trigun Stampede uses a 3D or CGI animation that, let's be honest, can be a hit or a serious mistake in anime... but here is something quite innovative and in many occasions visually impressive... the orange studio did a fantastic job mixing all this traditional 2D anime aesthetics with CGI giving a unique touch that I personally felt very fresh... I think for some moments it's hard to get used to but once you're in it completely you realize that it elevates the experience a lot, there are many battle scenes that are full of details and above all you feel a lot of fluidity in the movements...
I really tend to lean more towards classic animation styles... I'm a super fan of 2D animation but I must admit that the CGI in this series I really liked, it allowed some sequences to be incredibly animated and feel super fluid and dynamic... Some gunfights or melee battles felt amazing, it certainly gives you an immersive feeling that is bold and obviously may not be to everyone's taste but I quite liked it... I feel it worked in a good way. If all 3D anime had half the effort and affection that this animation has, well, there would be a lot of good ones....

The soundtrack to this series also deserves recognition.. the music is often one of the most rewarding things you can find in this anime.. It highlights every interesting and special moment in a beautiful way, amplifying the emotional points of the series without ever overshadowing the action or dialogue... it's one of those occasions where the music doesn't just feel like cute background noise, it feels as essential to the narrative as the characters themselves.... There's a piano piece that's incredibly beautiful, it reappears right at key moments, it's always tying in with Vash's past and his internal struggles.. i think it's among the best in the entire series.
Even the energetic atmosphere of the action sequences are accompanied by excellent music.. if you're a fan of anime soundtracks, this one is going to stay with you for a long time.. you'll definitely have to seek out every single one of those songs because they're so worth it. Speaking of the story itself, this version shares its roots with the original anime, but in a way reimagines the story, adding new layers of complicity.. it's a series that's not afraid to raise potential questions.. Vash as a character is deeply introspective, always struggling with the scars of his past and the decisions that have brought him to that point.. unlike many other heroes, he doesn't have all the answers.. he constantly questions his purpose and the cost of his ideals and is questioning what to do or what not to do many times.. This theme resonates a lot throughout the episodes, each character has to end up reflecting on their own purpose and the impact their actions will have.. that's a very human thing within this sci-fi series.

This anime is not at all afraid to ask tough questions or present the characters with moral dilemmas that don't have easy answers at all... I really liked this, as it goes beyond a simple action adventure and turns it into something that really makes you think, and I love that... they always manage to keep it from being preachy. . the questions feel like a natural extension of the characters' journeys not something tricky added just to force you to think in a basic way, on the contrary, various answers are presented that may not be entirely morally correct but ultimately end up being logical.... Ultimately, I feel that this anime is quite a journey, certainly worth it, and I recommend it.
It's not perfect, but it's very ambitious.. it manages to hit some very high points, the initial pacing issues are quickly balanced by solid storytelling and innovative character development and animation... If you are a fan of action anime with touches of sci-fi and some philosophical perspective, you will surely enjoy this series a lot.. and for old Trigun fans, this reinvention gives new life to a classic story.. if you haven't given it a chance, I would recommend you do, you may end up very surprised... I finished the series feeling very satisfied... if I had to give it a rating, I would give it an 8.5/10. It's a series that dares to be different, is innovative and accomplishes a lot along the way. It shows that sometimes reimagining things or stories could make them much more resonant than before... you can improve it like you have no idea. And that's all for today, I'll leave you the intro below, see you in the next reviews! Byebye

Byebye

  8. Trigun: The $$60,000,000,000 Man (Review)@isyeda1830d

Convenience is one of the major things that I run on personally. It's not that I will like something just because it's convenient to me, but I actually try to like it. To be honest with you it's getting a little more difficult picking out the good stuff. This is where the anime series Trigun comes into place. The show began running on cartoon network's television block a few years ago, and I (being the night person that I am) started watching it because nothing else was on since they had recently taken Inuyasha off the air when they began airing Trigun. Now I'll admit, the series was a bit difficult to get into at first. The whole idea of a wild west / sci-fi world didn't exactly sound appealing to me. It took a lot of watching, but eventually I became a big fan. Trigun is definitely a series on a level by itself.

    Useful Vocabulary For Trigun

Double Dollars ($$) - The currency in the world of Trigun. I'm not actually too sure of how much each double dollar is compared to U.S. currency.

Planet Gunsmoke - The name of the planet on which Trigun takes place. The whole planet is desert, and water is often hard to find. This is not the human's native land though, as they moved there after Earth's resources were diminished.

Vash The Stampede - While this is the name of the main character in the series, the title refers to him as a merciless outlaw who levels entire villages and who kills women and children mercilessly.

    Story

After Earth's resources have become too diminished for humans to continue to live on the planet the need to survive takes over, as humans leave the planet in search of a new home with fresh resources. One of the ships is named "Seeds", for it carries the frozen bodies of humans that are intended to help populate the new world that everyone is so desperately seeking out. Things don't go too well for the humans though, as their biggest hope is a planet covered in arid desert. Worse comes to worse, and everyone ends up landing on the planet, of course the only accident for the person behind the crash was that some of the humans managed to survive as the ships are forced to make emergency landings on the planet. This was about 100 years ago from when the series first begins.

Vash the Stampede is the most feared outlaw on the entire planet; the mere mention of his name will often send people running for their lives. Villages he passes through are left in rubble, and people are hurt. This is why the Bernadelly Insurance Agency has special concern for this fellow and for the trouble that he causes. The agency assigns two of it's employees, Meryl Stryfe and Millie Thompson to go out into the world and follow Vash to make sure that he doesn't cause too much damage. What Millie and Meryl don't realize though is that finding the legendary outlaw won't be as easy of a task as they expect. At first they find a few different candidates that could be Vash, but because of the $$60,000,000,000 reward on his head, there is a lot of trouble in finding the fellow through all of the people following him trying to get his bounty. When they finally find the real Vash they can hardly believe what the real outlaw is like, and it's not surprising that they question if it is the real Vash that they've stumbled upon.

The whole story isn't exactly obvious in the beginning, as Vash's past is revealed little by little in the beginning, but about halfway through the series you learn pretty much everything. I couldn't find any conflicting aspects of the story, and it really feels like the creators accomplished what they set out to do without too much confusion. The main element to the series early on seems to be the mysteries surrounding Vash's past and what not, but to keep your attention the creators do a very good job at feeding info little by little until you see the big picture. This tactic works well with this particular series, and at the same time it draws you in and forces you to have concern for the characters, and it even allows you to sympathize with a few of them.

    The Main Characters

Trigun features some very interesting characters. The show itself focuses on several aspects of the people in the world of Trigun, but one of the main focuses is character development. This element is probably the main reason why I enjoyed this series so much.

    Vash the Stampede

Vash is the most distinguishable character in the series, with his blonde spiked hair, rose red outfit, and his yellow/orange sunglasses. The first episodes portray Vash as a complete goofball who always gets caught up in things, but later on more of his true self is revealed. Despite what Meryl may believe in the beginning, Vash really is Vash the Stampede, and as much as she and Vash beat around the bush about it, they begin developing feelings for one another near the middle of the series. Vash is your typical perverted character who is reduced to a mere lap dog whenever a pretty woman walks by. Although he's quick to panic over little things, Vash is extremely cool and collected when fighting, and only during a battle can anyone really realize how strong he is. With doughnuts, women, and death being his only real weaknesses, Vash is a deep character with a unique style.

    Nicolas D. Wolfwood

Wolfwood is probably my favorite character in the entire series. This character is introduced early on in the series, but it takes a while before the character gets major screentime. Wolfwood is first met by Vash and friends in the middle of the desert just sitting down leaning against his giant cross. This character is a man of the cloth, but you wouldn't be able to guess this right away because of his outlook on life and style. Wolfwood is always out to make some money, and he does this by carrying around a miniature confessional and charging people to use it, but not everyone is willing to take the bait. The most distinguishable features of this character is his foul language and limp cigarette that always hangs from his mouth. Although Wolfwood has secrets of his own to hide, he often proves very helpful and his heart is in the right place as far as his beliefs go.

    Meryl Stryfe

As the mission given to her demands, Meryl must find Vash the Stampede and follow him around making sure that he doesn't destroy anything that the insurance agency she works for must pay for. Meryl is at first very cold and disbelieving of Vash in the beginning of the series, but after a while she starts to warm up to him, and even though she would never admit it she really likes Vash. Meryl travels with her coworker Millie, and although they don't always see eye-to-eye they are pretty much best friends. Meryl is the voice of reason character who also comes off as being a little cynical at times and devoid of any emotion besides anger, but this is only so that she doesn't open up to anybody. Meryl reminds Vash a whole lot of someone from his childhood.

    Millie Thompson

Millie was also an employee at the Bernadelly Insurance Agency that was assigned to track down and follow Vash the Stampede. Millie isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, but she has a good heart and that's all that really matters. Like Vash, Millie is extremely sensitive but at the same time she is incredibly strong and carries a giant stun gun everywhere she goes just in case trouble brews. One thing that Millie just loves is pudding. Although it's a little subtle, Wolfwood and Millie eventually become extremely close. Millie is the first of the two Bernadelly employees that accepts the facts about the goofy fellow actually being the Vash the Stampede. Despite being one of the more comical characters, Millie is one of my favorites in the series.

    Millions Knives

https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/villains/images/8/8d/Trigun-Knives.png/revision/latest?cb=20131215002523 There isn't a whole lot about this character that you can say without spoiling the entire story, and so I will keep the description short so as to not reveal too much. Knives is Vash's twin brother, and like Vash, Knives is also extremely strong. Unlike Vash, Knives lives for destruction and wishes pain upon the human race because he deems them as worthless and selfish creatures. Obviously there are some major clashes of philosophy between Knives and Vash, and thus this character is deemed as the big villain of the series.

    The Series In General

Despite first appearances, Trigun is an extremely deep series with many running philosophies. Keep in mind that you won't actually see enough to realize this until you are halfway through the series. First impressions are very radical from how the series actually is, and so you shouldn't make up your mind about it until after watching about 5 episodes. The flashback episodes do tend to get a little repetitive because they appear frequently around the middle of the series, but it's never to the point where I felt like the series implemented them enough to make the episode boring.

Trigun is filled with many "goofy" moments, and this is one of the major turn offs for most people that start watching it. Vash really is a funny character, and to be honest, the humor was the main reason why I started watching Trigun in the first place. To my surprise, pretty much none of the humor used in the series revolves around sexual innuendo, and in essence this makes the series feel more refreshing from others that do. The jokes pretty much revolve around two things; Millie's naiveness, and Vash's clumsiness and attraction to girls. One nice thing about Trigun is that the creators did just the right amount of contrasting between serious and humorous.

As far as most anime series go, I would say that Trigun is extremely refined. It's obvious that a lot of thought went into subtle matters like character interactions for example, but the big things were also worked on to the point that the plot feels extremely polished. Although action sequences are present in nearly ever episode, I still found myself getting excited to see the Vash go from goofy to serious as each fight broke out. The action sequences are extremely fluid, and nicely animated. Usually these scenes have a slight amount of humor interjected into them just to keep things on the light hearted side.

Animation is pretty standard, with character models being the best aspect of it all. Trigun's characters look slightly different from those of other anime series because it looks as if the artists took more time to input the character's personalities into their expressions. The backgrounds are mostly boring though, with desert scenery and stone cities being the major implementations. Colors appear to be slightly washed out, but it's the only problem I could find that actually bugged me at all.

Trigun is not for kids. The adult swim version is edited, but it still has a lot of violence and cursing. In fact, I would really only recommend the series to adults because the plot structure used will probably make the series a little difficult for young teenagers to completely understand. A lot of adults themes are present in Trigun, and the overall feel of the series makes it very obvious that this show was not made for children of any age, but rather for adults with refined tastes. Many people say that the show was influenced by Cowboy Bebop, and while this may be true, Trigun is superior to Bebop in my eyes.

Trigun is a series that's perfect for wasting time. Non anime fans will likely have a hard time finding anything to like in the series, but older persons will probably enjoy it. Definitely one of my top ten anime series of all time, Trigun is something that should not be missed.
