Argumento
La historia comienza en una casa humilde en la ciudad sagrada de Mashhad, Irán, donde vive una mujer con su hijo. Plot
The story begins in a humble house in the holy city of Mashhad, Iran, where a woman lives with her son. She dresses up, puts on her make-up and goes for a walk in the dark streets; she gets high to endure the night. Then a man arrives on a motorcycle who hires her services; however, what she doesn't know is that his client is a serial killer who kills her and discards her body like garbage in a vacant lot.
In this film, from the beginning we meet the killer Saeed (Mehdi Bajestani), a family man and veteran of the Iran-Iraq war who has a secret mission: to clean the streets of prostitutes.

En líneas generales es un film que tiene una atmósfera oscura y sucia, el Director Ali Abbasi, quiso mostrarnos la realidad de la época, mujeres pobres que se prostituían para comer, el poder de los hombres y el silencio de las autoridades policiales.
El rechazo de la mujer en la sociedad iraní está presente en toda la película, como demuestra lo que le ocurrió a Rahimi: no poder alquilar una habitación de hotel, información bloqueada y acoso sexual por parte de un comisario.
Las escenas de asesinatos son crudas e incómodas; no tienen el atractivo estético que suele verse en este tipo de películas, el director nos muestra la fealdad de ese mundo. Otra cosa que me sorprendió fue que existieran prostitutas en ese país.
Son 03 historias, la del criminal, la periodista y la denuncia social de la vida de las mujeres en Irán.
My opinion
Overall, it is a film that has a dark and dirty atmosphere; director Ali Abbasi wanted to show us the reality of the time: poor women who prostituted themselves to eat, the power of men, and the silence of police authorities.
The rejection of women in Iranian society is present throughout the film, as evidenced by what happened to Rahimi: not being able to rent a hotel room, blocked information, and sexual harassment by a commissioner.
The murder scenes are crude and uncomfortable; they do not have the aesthetic appeal usually seen in this type of film, and the director shows us the ugliness of that world. Another thing that surprised me was that there were prostitutes in that country. There will be three stories, that of the criminal, the journalist, and the social denunciation of the life of women in Iran.
What struck me most is that society and his family treat him as a national hero, while the 16 victims, who were prostitutes, are worthless.
I identified with Rahimi's performance and his daily struggle to practice his profession and live in a male-dominated world.
We can divide this film into two sections, the murders and the trial.
Why was he called the "spider killer"?
Because he lured his victims into the house, strangled them and wrapped their bodies. As a child he was abused; his mother scratched and bit his skin. The trigger for his murders was when a cab driver mistook his wife for a prostitute.
