  1. VIVA LA VIDA MOVIE REVIEW (2024)@titisnariyah551d

Hello, movie lovers... How was your Christmas holiday? Since childhood, many of us have had a list of favourite movies to watch during the Christmas and New Year holidays. There are box office films that are displayed on cable TV at home to accompany the holiday period.

I was the same way. However, as I get older, my tendency to watch childhood favourites has somewhat diminished. Usually it's not because I don't like it, but because sometimes I watch genres according to my mood, or look for more complex things such as couples, the complexities faced by the adult world, and the like.

Like what I watched yesterday. I randomly scrolled through the romantic genre shows on netflix, until I found a Chinese film called VIVA LA VIDA.

When you hear Viva La Vida, you might think of a song title from the world-famous band Coldplay. Or a painting by feminist Zfrida Khalo. However, this Viva La VIda is the story of two people who found each other in the most desperate moment of their lives.

It begins with a confessional video that Ling Min (Li Gengxi) made in order to find a kidney donor to send to a club for people with brain tumours. Ling Min is a 25-year-old woman suffering from uremia. With her kidneys failing, Ling has to undergo dialysis three times a week, not to mention her lifestyle, food, and weight.

Feeling desperate, Ling impulsively sent the video but a few minutes later regretted it and retracted the video. Unfortunately, there was already a patient with a brain tumour watching, and the two were connected until the end.

Luu Tu (Yuchang Peng) has already undergone one head surgery for tumour removal, but unbeknownst to his mother, Luu Tu is hiding the secret that his tumour has recurred. Fearful of not being able to go through two surgeries, Luu decides to become a pendoro for Ling on the condition that Ling must take care of Luu's mother after she is gone.

From here the story continues to unfold, until the climax where finally, the two get married, and Ling wants Luu to do the surgery for the second time.

    CHARACTERISTIC

    • Ling Min (Li Gengxi)

As a sufferer of acute uremia, Ling is a determined character. She is fully aware that her life depends on how she treats her own body. It is this strong determination to live that makes Ling's character always look smouldering despite her tired face and body.

    • Luu Tu (Yuchang Peng)

Contrary to Ling. Luu Tu has been hopeless and given up on life since the beginning. However, it was his love for his mother that led him to the good fate of Ling Min. Although he seems desperate, Luu Tu has a great love and sense of responsibility. This is the kind of character Luu Tu is.

    SUMMARY

If you're looking for some emotional entertainment on a lonely, boring or nauseating day. Or when you just want to give up on life, you can watch Viva La Vida. Here, you'll be envious of Ling and Luu's spirit to live another healthy and long life.

At the very least, we can be encouraged and thankful that we are still healthy and given life today. Thank you for reading my review. Enjoy your favourite shows and happy holidays.

Hi, I am the child of the universe, I like to read books with various genres. I was born in the city of batik but can't draw batik yet. I want to be a novelist, but my works are only short poems that are included in anthology books.
