Hello, friends! Lately, I've been really bored at home, not knowing what to watch on TV. While there are a lot of new things on, sometimes you just want something a little different. While browsing the Prime Video catalog, I came across a movie that really caught my eye. It features several familiar faces who, in my opinion, deserve a chance to be recognized.
Hola, amigos, últimamente he pasado muy aburrida en casa sin saber qué ver en la TV, aunque sí hay muchas cosas nuevas, uno a veces busca algo un poco diferente. Mientras revisaba el catálogo de Prime Video, se me atravesó una película que me llamó mucha la atención, ya que tiene varios rostros que ya he conocido antes y que, según yo, merecen la oportunidad de ser conocidos.
We'll Never Have Paris is a film produced, starring, and almost entirely created by Simon Helberg and his wife, Jocelyn Towne. Simon Helberg is world-renowned for his role in The Big Bang Theory, and in fact, his character's personality in this film is similar to that of the legendary Howard Wolowitz, which makes it interesting to note that this story is inspired by his life when he met Jocelyn Towne.
We'll Never Have Paris es una película producida, protagonizada y creada por Simon Helberg junto a su esposa Jocelyn Towne en casi su totalidad. Simon Helberg es mundialmente conocido por su papel en The Big Bang Theory, y de hecho la personalidad de su personaje en esta película es parecida a la del legendario Howard Wolowitz, lo que da como dato curioso que esta historia está inspirada en su vida cuando conoció a Jocelyn Towne.
This film tells the story of Quinn, a neurotic man who falls into a minor crisis after being diagnosed with a small eye condition. During this crisis, Quinn discovers that a young woman close to him is in love with him, and she presents him with challenges in focusing on what he truly wants, diverting him from his chosen path and leaving him with many questions to answer.
Esta película cuenta la historia de Quinn, un hombre neurótico que decae en una pequeña crisis luego de ser diagnosticado con una pequeña condición médica en su ojo. Entre esas crisis, Quinn descubre que hay una chica cercana que está enamorada de él, y quien luego le da algunos problemas para enfocarse en lo que realmente quiere, desviándolo del camino que este llevaba y trayéndole muchas dudas que resolver.
Of all the things shown in this movie, what surprised me most were the actors who shared scenes with it. At least there was Zachary Quinto, whom I adore for his good looks, especially now that I'm watching the final season of Heroes. There was also Judith Light, whom I remember from her role in Ugly Betty, a series I also enjoyed a lot recently. And Alfred Molina, whom we all know as Dr. Octopus.
Entre todas las cosas que mostraron en esta película, lo que más me sorprendió fueron los actores que aquí compartieron escenas. Por lo menos, estuvo Zachary Quinto, el cual me encanta por lo hermoso que es, y más que ahora voy por la última temporada de Heroes. También estuvo Judith Light, la cual recuerdo por su papel en Ugly Betty, una serie que también disfruté mucho recientemente. Y Alfred Molina, a quien todos conocemos como el Dr. Octopus.
If you ask me if this movie is entirely good, I have to say that it has some scenes that felt forced and inconsistent in the script, or that, in my opinion, didn't suit the characters. There were also moments where I didn't feel any chemistry between the leads, despite their generally good performances. But it does have some genuinely funny scenes that really hit the mark.
Si me preguntan si esta película es totalmente buena, pues debo mencionar que esta tiene algunas escenas que sentí forzadas y con inconsistencias de guion o que, según yo, no iban con los personajes. También hubo momentos en donde no sentía química entre los protagonistas a pesar de la buena interpretación que dieron acá. Pero esta sí tiene escenas que sí dan mucha risa y que sí dieron la talla en el momento.
Another very important point is that, being Latina, I watch most things dubbed into our language, and that's why I have to mention that I didn't like this dub here. Even though it was high quality overall, and the actors were just as good as in The Big Bang Theory, and Zachary Quinto was just as good as he was in Heroes, there was a noticeable change in the script. And since I watch everything with subtitles, in Latin America the subtitles are from the original script, and this made me notice details that were ruined by the dubbing. So, among my recommendations, I'll tell you to watch it in its original language.
Otro punto muy importante es que yo, al ser latina, veo la mayoría de las cosas dobladas a nuestro idioma, y por eso debo mencionar que este doblaje de acá no me gustó. A pesar de que tenía calidad en todo, y los actores tuvieron casualmente la misma que TBBT y Zachary Quinto con la misma que tuvo en Héroes, este tuvo un cambio notorio en el guion, y como todo lo veo con subtítulos, en Latinoamérica resulta que los subtítulos son del guion original, y esto me hizo notar detalles que dañaron al doblar esta película, así que entre mis recomendaciones les diré que lo vean en su idioma original.
Well, it was a quick story and could have been a bit better, but I didn't dislike it at all. I found it on Prime Video, but keep in mind that the content varies by country, so you can look for it and watch it on a boring day or a Sunday when you don't know what to watch.
Bueno, realmente fue una historia rápida y que pudo haberse hecho un poco mejor, pero por nada me desagradó. Esta la conseguí en Prime Video, pero hay que recordar que el contenido cambia según el país, así que puede buscarla y verla en un día aburrido o algún domingo que no sepas qué ver.
