  1. Reflexión y breve reseña de Tenki no ko/ Reflection and brief review of Tenki no ko [ESP/ENG]@yasmarit646d

    ENGLISH

Hello dear friends of @TheAnimeRealm a pleasure and happy day, I come on this occasion to tell you about a movie that I found charming, motivating and with cute messages, it is about: The Weather With You or also known as The Weather Girl, a movie that despite its name refers to that it is only about a young girl who drives or you do things supported by the weather, it really is a theme that goes beyond it, it covers love also both oneself and others and the truth that not everything can be controlled and that the decisions we make have repercussions on the actions and consequences that originate.

    Kamiari (1) (2).gif

    **Design in CANVA**
The story begins with a young girl named Hina Amado who after a rainy day in Tokyo asks with strength that the sun comes out because her mother is very sick and wants to go out with her to walk as before, after asking so hard comes a ray of sunshine, indicating a place where her life will change completely and become the Girl of the sun, they say they are those maidens able to pray and make the rain stop and come out for a minimum moment the sun.

After that, Hodaka Morishima appears, a young high school student who seeks to leave home and live another direction in the city of Tokyo, although still being a minor would bring him difficulties but regardless of this he continues his adventure, trying to survive with what he has and looking for a job to continue there, at that time he meets a Mr. Keisuke Suga, a writer who has his own store where they investigate and write matters relating to weather, paranormal events or of interest to the public, there Hodaka stays a good time to settle in the city.

One day after having seen Hina at work and having helped her, he realizes that she is in danger and saves her, since she had lost her job and was looking for another job as a prostitute, so he prevents and stays with her, Hodaka learns that she can handle the weather and invites her to create a page where they make requests for those who need the sun to rise for a short time can be fulfilled and therefore be paid, which is so he can support his brother and help him with his life since there were only the two of them.

Hodaka falls madly in love with Hina, and realizes that as he uses his powers he becomes weaker, which will bring problems to stay together and make the decision if it is more important to let the sun stay longer or let the weather stay crazy with a heavy rain. It is a story in which two young people must make decisions as adults and know that these have their consequences, but regardless, understand that no matter how difficult the situation or believe you can change everything you have to know what is right and fight for what you want.

One of the phrases that I loved was “The heart of the human being is connected to heaven” the truth is that not only the maidens can pray to heaven and it will listen and change it, each and every one of us when asking with fervor and sincerity can change our own climate, let the sun come out and make the day totally different, no matter how dark it is, the light will always come out.

  2. "Weathering with You" by Makoto Shinkai Review@afterglow860d

    Greetings!

There are lots of romance movies that I watched but none like "Weathering with You". Weathering with You is another work from an acclaimed writer Makoto Shinkai. In this movie, I finally get to see how fantasy and romance were sown perfectly together to make a nice movie about teen love and struggle.

    Warning: Spoilers ahead

    Plot

Weathering with You tells the love story of two young teens whose paths are intertwined by fate that stemmed from kindness and the ability to discern one's struggle just by looking at them.

    Suspenseful opening scenes

One thing that I noticed about the works of Makoto Shinkai that I previously watched and with Weathering with You the opening scenes were all very interesting. It is the beginning scenes that make me very interested in the movie which in the end makes me keep on watching. (I did watch some movies where I had to stop just because I lost interest midway through the movie). Weather with You's opening is very suspenseful and in turn, made me glued to my seat.

This scene of Hina made me very curious on what will come next as she approaches a shrine (source: screenshot from Weathering with You)

    Element of uncertainty

I think one of the elements of movies that makes them great is the element of uncertainty. An uncertain situation goes hand and hand with a suspenseful scene. In Weathering with You, the uncertain situation of Hodaka makes the movie interesting since it makes the audience think about what will happen next.

    Endorsements?

I wonder if Weathering with You got some endorsement fees on the products that it showed throughout the movie. One good example is McDonald's and the logo is not just shown but the lead female character is also shown working at McDonald's and even the lead male character got to eat a Big Mac. If there are no endorsement fees I guess Makoto Shinkai had to show them because the setting of the movie is Tokyo, the most populous city in the world.

    An original story

To be honest, I have never seen a story like the story of Weathering with You, and with that being said I think this story is original and the way it was written and the characters' acting were made is amazing. The scenes are on point and they don't stray away from the story.

Hina praying for the sunshine (source: screenshot from Weathering with You)

I can't guess what will come next

One thing that I like very much about Weathering with You is the fact that I have trouble guessing the next scenes which is good because it only shows that the story is not much of a cliche and there are multiple occasions that I am trying to guess the scenes but I just can't.

Let's make a promise to each other to always be together

Another element of a movie that I am always looking forward to is the "quote" that will be delivered by the character. In Weathering with You, the words of Hodaka "Let's make a promise to each other to always be together" is one of the most heartfelt lines that I have seen in a while.

    Conclusion

Weathering with You is a must-watch anime. It has lots of elements that teens and adults alike will relate to. The scenes are very light and you will not going to be heartbroken in the end. The story shows various situations that pertain to the characters where we can learn a lot of lessons, lessons that we may already know but have to be reminded of once in a while.

That is all for now guys, catch you up with the next one. Wishing you all safety, good health, and abundance.

  3. Between Storms and Feelings | Weathering with You@adalathu928d
    1.jpg

Hello, friends of #TheAnimeRealm! This week, I continued to explore the filmography of Makoto Shinkai. This time, I dove into the story titled Weathering With You. Unlike the previous ones I saw by this director, I had never heard of it before. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the warmth of its plot and its deep environmentalist message. This film is part of what is known as Shinkai's "disaster trilogy", sharing similarities with Your Name and Suzume, as it is set in a city devastated by a tragedy.

    01.gif

Weathering With You tells the story of Hodaka Morishima, a young man who moves to Tokyo in the hope of escaping his family. However, life in the Japanese capital is not what he expected; money runs out, and he ends up facing one challenge after another. During his journey through the city, he meets Hina Amano, a mysterious girl with the power to manipulate the weather through prayers, which represents a good business opportunity for both of them, given the terrible storms that hit the city. But the power to manipulate the weather comes with consequences that neither imagines, and both must find a way to solve them.

    THE STORY

This is perhaps the simplest film I've seen by Makoto Shinkai. Nevertheless, it has a beautiful story, with characters that are easy to empathize with and get attached to. I really enjoyed Hodaka's adventure in Tokyo and to some extent I identified with him, given that I also come from a small town and discovering how difficult life in a big city can be. Seeing him struggle to earn money, take care of himself, survive and meet people who help and support him to get by reminded me a bit of my own path, although of course without as many setbacks as his.

    02.gif

So far, Hodaka has been the Shinkai protagonist I've identified with the most, thanks to everything we see him go through. Honestly, though, I would have liked to know a bit more about his past and the reasons that led him to run away from home. This is one point where I feel the movie faltered quite a bit; despite being the main character and despite the fact that we spend a lot of time watching Hodaka, we really know almost nothing about him. There are even other characters we get to know better than him. Although to tell the truth, none of the characters are overly developed, and I feel that this is one of the reasons why the plot comes off as too simple and to some extent shallow, especially when compared to Your Name or Suzume.

    5.jpg

Among the things I liked the most about the movie, without a doubt, is the ecological message it conveys. In it, we see the city of Tokyo submerged in an incessant rain that eventually causes floods and major disasters in the city. This functions as a kind of warning about climate change and its consequences for the population. Although Shinkai opts for a fantastical approach to address the issue of climate change, the message remains clear and is something that never hurts to keep in mind today.

    03.gif

I found the conclusion of the story to be extremely predictable and cheesy, but with a very clear and important message. Since I am not a lover of romantic stories, the love part was something I didn't enjoy too much. I would have preferred a different ending, since, in addition to the cheesiness, the selfish and impulsive decisions of both young people end up causing long-term consequences in the city. On the other hand, this clearly represents the environmentalist message of the film, demonstrating how making unwise decisions today can cause tragedies in the future.

    ANIMATION AND MUSIC

One aspect I really enjoyed about this film was the animation, something that has been consistent in the three Shinkai films I have seen. While I don't require perfect animation to enjoy an anime, I always value an appealing visual design, and Weathering With You definitely has that. The character design is fantastic, but what really captivated me was the design of the backgrounds and scenery; the landscapes, both urban and rural, are beautifully drawn and simply enchanting, so much so that it increased my desire to get to know the Asian country.

    04.gif

Regarding the music, my opinion is divided. The film has good instrumental themes; however, the inclusion of songs with vocals still seems a bit strange to me. Although I understand that the director uses this resource to mark the different acts in which the film is divided, I find them unnecessary, distracting and, in a way, they disconnect me momentarily from the story. Still, the themes are beautiful and perhaps in another context I would have asked to enjoy them better.

Despite its simplicity, Weathering With You is still moving and beautiful, as well as having an important message. I ended up enjoying it a lot and definitely recommend it if you're looking for an anime movie to pass the time. Also, if you saw Your Name, you will find two wonderful cameos that will surprise you.

Entre Tormentas y Sentimientos | El Tiempo Contigo

    2.jpg

    ![5.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/adalathu/23zbMTy3MWDn1RR4MY8FcTyASX81RFm8zpPf36xtzwpiJQsf4ndqm9eg64bFFaz88RsSs.jpg)

A few weeks ago I made a post talking about what I consider my favourite film, and in that post I mentioned that this story took place in the same universe of another film that had been released years later, so I was a bit excited about this fact and decided to look it up and watch it, and although I wasn't really going to review it (for reasons I will mention later), in the end I decided to do it and that's why today we will talk about Tenki no Ko ☀️🌧️.

I want to start talking about this film with absolute honesty, the truth is that I expected more from it, I feel that being the next film directed by Makoto Shinkai after Kimi no na Wa the expectations were very high, or at least in my case it was like that, it is for this reason that the story at the end left me with a certain disappointment and it really did not meet those expectations, in fact the reason why I didn't want to review this film was precisely because of this, however after thinking about it carefully I realised that the story is really quite good, clearly it is not my favourite film but it has several aspects that are worth highlighting. One of these aspects is the family story of Hina and her little brother Nagi (Sakura Kiryu), both live a complicated family event that leads them to be in the situation shown in the film, what captivated me the most was the companionship and commitment of both brothers to overcome the circumstances they live, and perhaps this would have been the element that made me cry at the climax of the story, even so it was not 🤷🏻‍♀️.

The animation and the shots of Tokyo was something that without a doubt captivated me a lot, you can tell that it is a work that they take very seriously and that they really invest in, the same happens with the soundtrack which was in charge of Radwimps and Toko Miura, and again it has songs that come at the right time for each scene presented. Within the story the element of the weather has absolute relevance, and considering that Hina "controls" the weather, it makes perfect sense that this is so, in this sense in the story the weather plays a certain role of antagonist as it is indirectly responsible for the series of events that occur throughout the plot, rain is a reflection of sad or unfunny days, it is responsible for separating a father from his young daughter on a daily basis, for certain events not taking place and it is also responsible for the final outlook of Tokyo, while the sun is a sign of hope, family reunion and joy. In the story they try to show how much one can long for the warm days when the rainy season never seems to end and takes everything in its path.

Now, if at the beginning I told you that I didn't love the film, obviously I must point out some aspects that I didn't like, and the first of them is the main character Hodaka, I never understood the reasons why he makes certain decisions at the beginning of the film, also in certain scenes I found him a bit unbearable 🤷🏻‍♀️ and his love relationship with Hina didn't seem totally genuine, but at this point I must say that it was more on Hina's side, on Hodaka's side you get to see at what point these feelings start, but not on her side and I think this is an aspect that makes "the emotional moment" of the plot doesn't feel so emotional. I feel that there are few moments that allow you to connect with the characters and at least in my case, this makes the ending feel unsparkly and somewhat rushed.

I think that something that could have played against me liking or not liking this movie, is the fact that its predecessor Kimi no na Wa is my favourite movie, and besides this it was an exaggeratedly well told story (at least for me) and left the bar very high, so I was expecting too much from this new story, however I have decided to watch it again and evaluate if I definitely like this movie or not. And just talking about Kimi no na Wa, Mitsuha and Taki have a small cameo in this story 🤣🤭. If you want to enjoy Tenki no Ko, it's available on Amazon Prime Video and HBO Max. And before I say goodbye, I want to thank you for inviting me and welcoming me to post in this community, I thought I wouldn't do it and in the end here I am 🤣.

  6. Weathering with You review. I totally loved it@noemilunastorta1765d

Makoto Shinkai never disappoint me, two days ago I watched the animated movie weathering with you. I saw your name and I loved it, and I think this movie too have a kind of the atmosphere of the old movies, something tender and dreamy. The main character Hodaka is a teen boy with some problems, a kind of emarginate but with a lot of resources, he fall in love of the lovely and kinfmd Hina, she have this weird talent of manipulating the weather and both chouche to transform it in a business. It start with a homeless hodaka during the worst rainy season in Japan, the rainy atmosphere its amazing, you can feel the sound of the rain drops and the melancholic mood. He meet the young Hina on a restaurant but it's a problematic netting that start with a kind of fight. But she is the only one kind with him, she feed him and so he fall in love. In this anime the weather it's the main point and you can feel it trough all the animation, every rain drop or in rays it's really awesome and detailed. So they start this business, when you need a sunny day you can call them and the end in many nice, emotional and sweet situation, they meet many people and their stories, it's a very cool part of the movie. In the end this movie its really suggestive and delicate as your name is, I loved it, not only for the plot that is quite simple but for the characters with their special and ingenous attitude and for the sievial atmosphere that fill all the scenes. I truly suggest you to watch it, you can find it on Netflix too.

  7. Weathering with You - "Who cares if we don't see the sunshine ever again? I want you more than any blue sky. The weather can go crazy"@dedicatedguy2220d

    image.png

This movie is from the same creators of Your Name, one of the best animated movies of the past decade and the ultimate proof that anime can also provide touching stories full of intensity and emotion. Weathering with You is also a fantasy story with a little bit of romance and drama included.

The fantasy part consists of a girl who somehow has the power to manipulate the weather. She is a teenage girl living with her younger brother. The main character is also a teenager who is living on his own in Tokyo and becomes friends with the girl. I found it weird to see 3 characters being so young without their parents. This might be a regular occurrence in Japan but I highly doubt it.

Given the fact they are so young, they don't have a lot of money and they quickly decide to start monetizing the girl's ability to control the weather. Specifically, she can make the sun appear even if the weather forecast is telling there will be a storm. Their business idea is a success but having such a powerful ability doesn't come for free.

    image.png

Soon after they began selling their weather changing service, something more personal would also begin to gradually change. It will be easy to see this twist coming for new viewers because something was inevitably going to happen and I think there was only 1 obvious choice.

The animation was spectacular, I would say the camera work was awesome but obviously there isn't camera work, only animation. However, they manage to include angles and movements that I have never seen before in an animated movie. It was really an incredibly well-done job.

When it comes to the story, it was very good. A well-balanced mix between fantasy/drama/romance. The only thing that left me puzzled was so many underaged characters (3) living on their own in Tokyo. Your Name is a superior production though. With a more touching and more intense story. Weathering with You is an excellent film but not as great as Your Name.

If you enjoy animation, especially Japanese animation and the genres I mentioned before, then Weathering with You is a must-watch. I would recommend to watch this film first and then Your Name to leave the best for last.

    image.png

    The best

    • The animation was better than ever. Top-notch.
    • Very cool fantasy story.

    The worst

    • The creators weren't able to make a story better than Your Name. The standards were super high though.
    • It is strange to have a story with 3 kids living without their parents.

The movie Kimi No Nawa (Your Name) was a complete success for the anime industry. Sure, it's not like Your Name was the first anime movie to be successful around the world, but the cultural way in which it was hosted gave way to much anticipation from the director's next film: Weathering with You. I have to say that Your Name is one thing and Weathering with You is another, but both are incredible and highly recommended

I will not talk about Your Name but if you have not seen it by now, run to see it on Netflix and it will be much more pleasant for you to see Weathering with You when you find littles things about Your Name in this movie.

No hablaré de Your Name pero si para este momento aún no la has visto, corre a verla que está en Netflix y será mucho más placentero para ti ver Weathering with You cuando encuentres una que otra cosilla de Your Name en esta película.

Talking about this movie is hard for me because as I just did with Your Name, I want to talk about Weathering with You without telling anything about the plot. I saw the movie knowing only that it was from the director of Your Name, but that is obvious, so I did not know what to expect but a great drawing that really makes you stop the movie from time to time just to notice the details of the drawing and animation offered by the movie.

If I want to say that it has a story not as cliche as Your Name, and also more mature. With Your Name I had a problem that with Weathering with You I can't get, and that is that Your Name seemed very "anime" to me, that is, a person who is not used to seeing anime would have some discouragement with some scenes of Your Name, but Weathering with You seeks to be more occidental and it is not something better or worse, but different, which I wanted to highlight in order to take advantage of saying that whoever has not seen it because “I do not see anime”, as you should, since you will find one of the best animated movies from last year.

  10. How Weathering With You Compares To Your Name (Tenki no Ko & Kimi no Na Wa) | Movie Review@krispnatz2357d

Makoto Shinkai's latest anime feature film Weathering With You aka Tenki no Ko recently hit theaters in the United States and one of the first questions on everyone's mind is how does the film compare to its predecessor the widely acclaimed and Oscar snubbed Your Name aka Kimi No Na Wa. In this review we'll discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the anime film from the immense leveling up of the animation to the fast pace of the film and its crowded narrative as well as the always enjoyable musical inclusion of RADWIMPS on the soundtrack and of course the answer to the comparison you've been waiting for: is Tenki no Ko better than Kimi No Na Wa?

  11. Movie Review: Weathering with You@cheah2487d

Morishima Hodaka is a 16-year-old high school student fleeing his remote island home. Amano Hina is an orphaned girl with the power to change the weather. Destiny brings them together in a Tokyo deluged in rain. But will destiny tear them apart?

Weathering with You has all the elements of a classic Shinkai Makoto anime: gorgeous visuals, romance, personal drama, and supernatural elements. Doubtlessly it will be compared to Shinkai's previous work,* Your Name*.

Does it live up to expectations?

The visuals of Weathering with You is its strongest point. Every shot is a work of art, combining clearly-drawn animated characters with lush background design. The art team did a fantastic job in reproducing some of Tokyo's iconic neighborhoods and landmarks; I recognized more than a few of them from my honeymoon in Japan. The superb artwork leads to genuinely uplifting moments when the rain clears and the sun shines down.

Like Your Name, Weathering with You is a character-focused romance story with a supernatural twist. The plot is driven primarily by character interactions and development. Don't expect a clear plot, however; for most of the film, it is a simple slice-of-life tale, following the blossoming relationship between Hodaka and Hina.

Weathering with You interweaves Shinto beliefs with contemporary Japan, presenting it in a naturalistic way, then pointing to forces and realms far outside human comprehension. The movie hints at water-like creatures from the sky, somehow linked to Amano's power. A character even speculates at the existence of another world up in the clouds. Just enough is seen to highlight the supernatural elements and create a sense of wonder -- and later, terror. Like the characters, the viewer is left with vague speculations and little information about the nature of these entities, or why they came to Earth. In this sense, it is reminiscent of weird tales from the pulp era -- only enough is revealed to the viewer to drive the plot, keeping the story going. I would have liked to see more information about these creatures, but by keeping them mysterious the movie emphasizes the otherworldly nature of these entities -- and, later, the cost of using Hina's weather-changing power.

In addition to the main story, Weathering with You presents a scathing indictment of adults: many adult characters exploit the Hodaka and Hina in some way, taking full advantage of their status as minors. The police don't care about Morishima's or Amano's circumstances -- they don't even follow up on a yakuza's confession that a woman who worked at his club was underage -- only that they have violated the law and must be caught. This emphasizes the relationship between Hodaka and Hina: they are the only people they can trust.

For all that, Weathering with You is not Your Name. There are cameos by characters from Your Name, but it is fundamentally a very different story.

Weathering with You is a straightforward romance story with supernatural twist. It's a more personal story, with lower stakes, less drama, fewer emotional hooks. It's more low-key than Your Name, highlighting the visuals, the budding romance, and the quiet desperation and resilience of two souls trying to find their way in a society that either exploits them or treats them as criminals.

As a standalone movie, Weathering with You makes for a wonderful young adult romance film. Coming off the back of Your Name, it feels a bit of a letdown. Watch the movie with no expectations, soak in the visuals, and you'll be most satisfied.

Shinto beliefs and romance are also important components of my latest series, DUNGEON SAMURAI, an isekai fantasy dungeon crawler featuring Japanese samurai torn out of their time. Check it out here!
