  1. Where the Wild Things Are (film): A bit more terrifying than the children's books@gooddream2647d

If you grew up in North America (or perhaps a lot of the rest of the world) "Where the Wild Things Are" was a ubiquitous children's book contained in nearly every doctor's office and most of your friends' homes. There was just something really incredible about the artwork and the story. The book wasn't exactly a Harry Potter anthology so it is understandable that they might experience some difficulty in making a 90 minute film out of it.

The story follows Max, a troubled little boy that appears to me to have some sort of behavioral issues. This actually kind of made me mad because I don't like misbehaving children and I don't really recall that being part of the original story in the kids' book. However, like I said, they needed to make this story longer and I guess this is part of it.

The "wild things" were huge in the storybook, and in the movie i think they did a good job of representing that. I loved the mix of live-action, animatronics, and also CGI. The wild things appeal real throughout and the computer generated stuff is not easily identified.

The movie is dark, and the main Wild Thing, named Carol (there must be some hidden reason why he has a lady's name) can be particularly frightening at times as he is prone to violent outbursts and is very strong. The character is wonderfully voiced by James Gandolfini in one of his final performances before his untimely death in 2013.

I found the movie to be quite dark and was not really what I was expecting based on what I remember from the kid's book, but perhaps that is a good thing. I found the movie to engage a wide range of emotions so that is also a good thing. Overall, this movie is not epic, but it is definitely worth seeing although I can't really say if i feel it is appropriate for kids (I don't have any.)

On a scale of "Urgh!" to "Wowsers!" I give Where the Wild Things Are a score of.....

  2. Where the Wild Things Are (2009) by Spike Jonze (REVIEW)@lost1082669d

This is a movie where you can truly enjoy the animation and the story of the movie, it is well written and directed that even if you are not fan of those animation movie, you will still enjoy it.

So the film is a fantasy movie about Max, an overactive child who can not stand at home and fleeing from the family, heading into the woods enters a completely different world. Dressed in a costume of a creature, entering into that world reveals different inhabitants, different from us.

Despite the opinion that he is an intruder, the creatures receive a warm Max in them, and he with the fictitious story of being king will overshadow everyone and make them believe in that story.

I must mention that the soundtrack of the film is magical. The film abounds with great music and interesting effects. You will certainly receive a nomination in those art categories.

Is an adaptation of child book Where The Wild Things Are, published in 1963, by Maurice Sendak. The book is nominated as one of the children's favorite books in English countries. Commercially a box office, the film scooped up a bit of profit but earned a lot of positive reviews from critics about Spike Jonze's directions, animated actors, an actor acting.

    Synopsis:

Max is a boy who has an imaginary power that knows no bounds. But behind all the fun he got when he played, Max harbored a feeling of loneliness. Max feels that he is underpaid by his mother and brother while Max himself has no playmate.

The loneliness that hit Max was long piling up and out the form of anger. One night, Max who was disappointed by his mother's ignorance began to get angry until finally, his mother turned back to Max. In the midst of the conflict, Max decides to run as far away from home as possible and travels to an island called where the wild things are.

The story in this movie continues and Max meets the wild "creatures of monster". There Max managed to be friends with them and they even make Max as their leader. As time went on, Max's presence slowly brought many changes into the lives of the wild things, both positive and negative changes. What's the excitement of Max's adventure like?
