Wild Mountain Thyme is an interesting movie to watch even if you are not a romantic like me.

    What is the movie about?

Set in the countryside, it tells the story of loneliness, the exasperation of the patriarchs, and the confusion of the younger generation.

In most movies of the countryside, we see barn dances, fun, and frolic. Remember the scene from Pride and Prejudice? Well, this one isn't any of that. After a few scenes, you start to feel sympathy for the few actors that are in it. The older actors have lived the story to such an extent that we can actually feel the exasperation they are trying to express at the lack of action by the young ones who fail to realize they are meant for each other, anyway.

The movie starts with Anthony and Rosemary as young children and how she is smitten by him but he likes another girl. Rosemary's dad who is a farmer owns land near Anthony's farm. No, this is not another family feud story. The children grow up and soon her parents pass away and Anthony's dad almost gave his property to a relative because he felt Anthony would always remain single. When Rose's mother falls sick, Anthony's dad tells his nephew from New York that he would not sell the farm to him because he would not like to be the reason that the two were apart. On his deathbed, however, he tells his son that he would eventually find love where he had, once.

Anthony always tells Rose he heard voices and one day he goes to her in the rain and tells her that the voice told him to go to her and they finally end up together and he tells her that his mother's ring which she found did belong to her as a right. Throughout the movie, Rose is shown to be steadfast in her love for Anthony. She does manage to make him come through in spite of his convictions that he is not made for love and life.

This movie made me realize that love stories can be beautifully told even if it is not in the usual format.

It is a must-watch and I am sure it will not disappoint you.

Emily Blunt and Jamie Dornan along with Jon Hamm, Dearbhla Molloy, and Christopher Walken have done a wonderful job.

Well, you can't please 'em, all. Critical reception and with the Covid rage, the movie was not received well and the blame was put on the Irish accent.

Do try to watch and see if you agree or not.
