Wistoria: Wand and Sword is honestly one of those anime that just sneaks up on you, like you don’t expect much at first, then boom, you are hooked before you even realize what’s happening.
Wistoria: Wand and Sword is another anime I like, it’s giving serious Mashle: Magic and Muscles vibes, No magic but strength, and that alone already sets the tone for everything are about to see.
So the story basically follows Will Serfort, a guy living in a world where magic is everything, Like, your value as a person is literally tied to how well you can use magic, School, status, respect everything revolves around it, but here is the twist… Will has zero magic, not small magic, not hidden magic, not it will awaken later kind of thing, Zero.
And normally, that should automatically make him useless in that kind of world, But this guy said no. Instead of magic, he focused on pure physical strength, And not just normal strength o, I am talking insane, ridiculous, how is this even possible? kind of strength, the type that makes you question if he is even human sometimes.
That’s where the Mashle comparison really comes in, because just like Mash, Will is out here surviving in a magic dominated world using only his body, no spells, no tricks, just hard work, discipline, and vibes
But what I actually like about Wistoria is that it doesn’t feel like a complete copy, there is more emotion behind Will’s journey, He’s not just trying to prove a point or be funny, there is a deeper motivation tied to someone important to him, you can feel that drive in the way he fights and pushes himself.
The academy setting is also very interesting, you know how these magic schools usually have ranking systems, elites, and all those you are not good enough kind of people? Yeah, Wistoria has that too, and of course, Will is constantly looked down on because he doesn’t use magic, people underestimate him a lot.
But that’s where the satisfaction comes in.
Because every time they doubt him, he just goes ahead and does something crazy, Like you will just be watching and suddenly he moves at a speed that makes no sense or takes down something that should require magic… and you are just there like okay wait, this guy is actually built different.
The fight scenes are clean too. Not overly complicated, but very impactful, You can feel the weight behind every punch, every movement, It is not just about flashy powers, it is about effort and raw strength, and I like that balance.
Another thing I noticed is that the anime does a good job of building tension, You know those moments where you are just waiting for Will to snap and prove everyone wrong? Yeah, they stretch it just enough to make the payoff feel worth it.
Character wise, Will is very easy to root for, He’s not loud or overly dramatic, but you can tell he carries a lot inside him, and when he finally shows what he can do, it hits differently because you have seen how much he is endured.
Overall, I won’t lie, if you liked Mashle, you are most likely going to enjoy this one too, It is that same strength over magic” concept, but with its own emotional depth and storytelling style.
For me, it is one of those anime you start casually, then before you know it, you’re fully invested and honestly, I am really looking forward to seeing how far Will can go in a world that was not built for people like him.

This anime really surprised me. I didn't think I'd like it so much, but it captivated me from the first episode. Many people initially compared it to Harry Potter. Personally, I love anything involving magic and swords, and honestly, the animation, battle sequences, and all the details were incredibly polished and impressive. The fight choreography is dynamic and takes full advantage of the dungeons' verticality. I find it brilliant how the magic effects (which are colorful, bright, and ethereal) contrast with Will's fighting style (which is heavy, rough, and kinetic). When Will clashes his sword against a spell, the animation makes you "feel" the impact. The academy and the tower have an architectural scale that makes you feel small, reinforcing the idea of an oppressive and gigantic system.
The story isn't exactly original, nor anything out of the ordinary, but I think it compensates for the melancholic atmosphere it carries. Los diseños de los personajes están buenísimos, los fondos son espectaculares y las peleas, son súper fluidas, las coreografías están de diez.. el manejo de la cámara en los combates es excelente, hace que cada golpe, cada choque, se sienta dinámico y potente.. y ojo a este dato, que me enteré después: en el equipo de producción hay gente que trabajó en series como Black Clover y DanMachi, ¡y el que hace la música es el mismo de My Hero Academia! La historia está, simplemente, bien contada.. se enfoca de lleno en el viaje personal de Will, en cómo crece, en la perseverancia y en superar los obstáculos, por ahí te tiran pistas de un misterio más grande con los Maji Vander y los Anfitriones Celestiales, que la verdad me dejó con ganas de saber más, pero por ahora, el foco está puesto en Will, y con eso a mí me basta y me sobra.. su viaje es tan bueno que carga con toda la serie sin problemas.
Entonces, ¿qué nota le pongo? A Wistoria: Wand and Sword le voy a dar un sólido 8.5 de 10. ¿Y por qué no un 9 o un 10? Bueno, siento que aunque la ejecución es fantástica, la historia a veces cae en clichés de personajes y algunas partes de la trama se sienten medio apuradas, como si el manga original no estuviera muy seguro de si iba a durar mucho.. por ejemplo, todo el arco del Gran Festival Mágico se me hizo un poco apresurado, pero, sinceramente, son quejas menores. La pasión que se nota en la producción, el protagonista que es una inspiración total, la animación que te vuela la cabeza, las escenas de pelea y la química tan real entre los personajes... todo eso eleva a la serie a un nivel alto, es como si agarrara ingredientes que ya conocemos y te cocinara un plato que está delicioso.. y bueno, hasta aquí mi reseña de hoy, cuidense mucho! Hola, amigos de @TheAnimeRealm un gusto pasar por acá y en esta oportunidad, vengo hablarles de un anime fascinante, y digo así porque la animación, las batallas y la misma historia están buenísimas, es el tipo de anime que desde el primer capítulo te engancha y te causa una emoción grande, aunado a que tanto el opening como el ending tiene una música pegadiza, buena de verdad, se trata de Tsue to Tsurugi no Wistoria.
En esta ocasión nos encontramos con un joven llamado Will Sefort, quien sin tener familia, vive en un orfanato con Elfaria, la cual es su amiga incondicional, sin embargo, cuando crecen y están en la academia de magia, Elfaria se vuelve a temprana edad la mejor maga de la historia, por lo que es ascendida a una especie de torre, donde todos los magos destacados en los elementos principales como el fuego, bosque, hielo, rayo, u otra habilidad que los haga ser merecedores de ello se encuentran ahí, pero en el caso de Will es complicado ya que no tiene magia.
Así es, Will no tiene magia por ende no puede usar varita ni hacer hechizos, aunque eso no lo detiene, usa una espada la cual lo permite avanzar en sus estudios además de su inteligencia en la teoría y sus prácticas en la mazmorra, ayudado por Kiki mascota y familiar de Will que lo apoya en cualquier circunstancia de peligro y su amiga también de estudios Colette, quien le gusta pero no se atreve a decirle, por ello lo apoyo con su magia para que el cumpla su sueño de ser el mejor mago de la historia así su único camino sea la espada.
Will no la ve tan fácil, porque como no sabe usar magia, sus compañeros lo molestaran y lo verán inferior, pero a pesar de ello, él no se rinde, mejora sus habilidades físicas, y no se desmotiva, al contrario, intenta dar lo mejor decir, ganar créditos para que le validen en sus clases y así avanzar hasta conseguir de alguna manera ver a su mejor amiga, es una batalla de conocimientos y fuerza, además del uso correcto de magia porque a pesar de todo los desgatas.
Cuenta con su primera temporada de 12 capítulos, como mencione al inicio la animación es hermosa, a pesar de que la trama se parece mucho a historia parecidas de magos y esto, a mí en particular me llamo la atención la forma en como el uso de una espada puede cambiar lo que los magos tanto añoran como son sus varitas y habilidades, el peligro que se enfrenta en este caso Will pelear de frente, así como las batallas tan emocionantes y épicas que se sienten, aunado a que el mensaje que trasmite de nunca rendirte así seas totalmente diferente a los demás eso no implica que no puedes dar lo mejor y salir adelante.

I accidentally stumbled across Wistoria: Wand and Sword on Crunchyroll after finishing Overlord's last season. I will say it was a good series in parts, just seemed to become confused about what it wanted to be in the end.
Now Wistoria has been a great series from the get-go.
The story starts with Humanity having been oppressed by a mysterious foe, known as the Celestial Hosts. Five of the best Mages from Humanity joined together to defeat their Celestial foes. After their win, the fear was that the foe would return at a later time to destroy Humanity.
The Magia Vander, the 5 most powerful mages, built a magical dome and a tall tower to contain their foes.
Since its creation, the five strongest mages from every generation have then been tasked with monitoring the barrier from atop the mighty Wizard's tower.

However, Will possesses an exceptional physique that he uses to his advantage to the fullest, with his trusty sword and a handful of magical items that his roommate Rosti creates. Will uses these items to help him overcome his lack of magical abilities.
Now we get onto the soundtrack, and what an opening song to kick the series off with!
Penguin Research with the song Fire and Fear. The opening seconds of this song are so fitting to this series and the voice of the lead is stunning. A really good vocal range. Bloody love it!

Pero no es solo su similitud a animes populares del género de fantasía y acción, sino que también tiene una de las mejores animaciones que este 2024 nos ha traído en una serie de 12 capitulos, nada más ni nada menos que producido por uno de los estudios de animación más conocidos de la actualidad. Si, es completamente absurdo y a la vez contradictorio esto, pero bueno, es lo que llama la atención y no es la primera vez que se ve esto en un anime de este estilo (repito la similitud de esto con la trama principal del conocido anime MASHLE, el cual también trata de un estudiante sin capacidad de usar magia intentando convertirse en uno de los mejores magos de su escuela). A diferencia de nuestro carismático e ingenuo Saitama con cabello de Mob, es que el protagonista de este anime, Will Serfort, es un chico que aparentemente no demuestra ser una persona con una fuerza y con habilidades sobrehumanas, cosa que al principio vemos sorprendidos al verlo enfrentarse con poderosos monstruos en una mazmorra que nos recuerda levemente a la mazmorra de Danmachi (muchas similitudes me confunden), cosa que vemos es increíble para un chico de lentes y delgado.
Cuando nos enteramos del origen de ese fuerte deseo que tiene nuestro protagonista Will por ser un Magia Vander, sentimos un poco de admiración, ya que al ver que su mejor amiga de la infancia es la maga más jóven que se ha convertido en Magia Vander de su generación, vemos que el camino que este está decidido en seguir no es para nada fácil y mucho menos al no tener ninguna aptitud mágica. El estarse comparando con un mago talentosos desde pequeño es algo que vemos es similar a tramas de otros animes populares del género, pero logra capturar la atención de la gente al entender que nuestro protagonista no lo tiene para nada fácil con todo esto que menciono en cuenta, lo cual le da más valor y peso a cada logro que consigue más adelante. Es como si viéramos una vez más el típico ejemplo de los resultados del esfuerzo y el trabajo duro en una historia ejemplar en este tema. Claro está, al final no quita el hecho de que por ser el protagonista, siempre tiene la posibilidad de poseer algún poder oculto o algo parecido, pero no diré más para no dar ningún spoiler. Es más, me gustaría destacar un poco su similitud en cuanto a la trama y personajes con su serie hermana del mismo creador conocida como Danmachi, el cual es uno de mis animes favoritos del género de fantasía.

There are also the villains, who appear only a couple of times in the anime, but the little time given to these characters is enough to make them stand out, demonstrating a power and threat level with bloody and uncensored scenes, which also attracts a lot of attention. However, for the little context we are given of these characters, not much more can be said about them, really. It is as if this whole season is more focused on introducing us to both the protagonist and his friends, the Academia Magia Rigarden, the Magia Vanders; besides telling us about the history and the current situation of this world, which is protected by a barrier that keeps away beings that are not of this world and filled with darkness to much of this world. It is also worth mentioning that from the beginning our protagonist faces several opponents, years which are very powerful wizards that after meeting and confronting him, gain his trust and respect. All this evidently gives us to understand that we still have much to see and know of this story, things that I imagine will continue to tell us in the next season. But, so far, it is interesting everything they show us and the introduction we have to this incredible fantastic and intriguing world.

Por otro lado, están los personajes secundarios, los cuales también tienen una buena presentación, al menos en su mayoría, con personalidades diferentes que buscan relacionarse de alguna forma con nuestro protagonista. Algunos como enemigos y otros como amenazas, pero también están los que son amigos de Will, cosas que no les resta peso a sus papeles, sino más bien sus relaciones con él hacen que despierte en nosotros cierta curiosidad de las intenciones que tienen cada uno con nuestro protagonista (aunque en uno que otro caso es tan evidente la intención como para dudarlo). Es como el típico hecho de seguir o apoyar al protagonista que ha vivido de burlas y de humillaciones por no saber usar magia en su escuela, cosas que los hace valorarlos como buena persona que es. Sin embargo, que esto que digo no destaque nada en especial a cada personaje secundario, siendo estos nomás personajes que al final terminan llevándonos al siguiente acto en el cual los vemos a todos trabajando en equipo, cosa que pone a prueba cada relación o disputa que tengan entre ellos. Pero, al igual que sucede en la mayoría de los animes del género, el protagonista siempre logra destacarse entre todos, aunque en este caso lo hace sin tener ninguna habilidad especial o poder mágico (repito, no quiero dar spoilers).
También están los villanos, los cuales vemos que aparecen nomás un par de veces en el anime, pero el poco tiempo que les dan de protagonismo a estos personajes es suficiente como para que se destaquen, demostrando un poder y un nivel de amenaza con escenas sangrientas y sin censura alguna, cosa que también llama mucho la atención. Sin embargo, por el poco contexto que nos dan de estos personajes, no se puede decir mucho más de ellos, la verdad. Es como si en toda esta temporada se centrara más en presentarnos tanto al protagonista y sus amigos, la Academia Magia Rigarden, los Magia Vanders; además de hablarnos de la historia y la situación actual de este mundo, el cual no olvidemos que se encuentra protegida por una barrera que aleja a seres que no son de este mundo y que llenaron de oscuridad a gran parte de este mundo. Tambien cabe mencionar que desde el principio nuestro protagonista se enfrenta a varios contrincantes,años cuales son magos muy poderosos que luego de conocerlo y enfrentarlo, se ganan su confianza y respeto. Todo esto nos da a entender evidentemente que aún nos queda mucho por ver y saber de esta historia, cosas que me imagino seguirán contándonos en la siguiente temporada. Pero, hasta ahora, es interesante todo lo que nos muestran y la introducción que tenemos a este increíble mundo fantástico e intrigante.

The quality in terms of animation, the details in terms of drawing, the distinctive design of the characters, the mixture of strong colors with dark tones and at the same time varied with lights and shadows is something that can be appreciated quite well in every scenario we see in this anime. With spectacularly well animated battles, with details, visual effects and explosions very striking. What fascinates me the most is the absence of 3D and CGI, being this something that I admire quite a lot as they make more effort to animate almost everything in 2D, with a quite enjoyable fluidity to the eye. On the other hand, the sound effects that the anime has also draw a lot of attention for being very well done and added, giving every dwarf, every hit, every explosion a pretty strong impact. And of course, the soundtrack so striking that has this anime is that complement that generates that feeling of epicity and excitement to every battle and every moment. As I said, this anime is undoubtedly an audiovisual spectacle with a fantastic story and full of exciting moments.
Personally, I give it a rating of 9.5/10 as far as the fantasy and action genre is concerned.

Ya desde los primeros minutos del primer episodio, sin exagerar, podemos disfrutar de un excelente espectáculo audiovisual. Una secuencia de batallas con monstruos contra un joven estudiante con espada rápido, hábil y muy fuerte. La calidad en cuanto a animación, los detalles en cuanto al dibujo, el diseño distintivo de los personajes, la mezcla de colores fuertes con tonos oscuros y a la vez variados con luces y sombras es algo que se puede apreciar bastante bien en cada escenario que vemos en este anime. Con batallas espectacularmente bien animadas, con detalles, efectos visuales y explosiones muy llamativas. Lo que más me fascina es la ausencia de 3D y CGI, siendo esto algo que admiro bastante al esforzarse más en animar casi todo en 2D, con una fluidez bastante disfrutable a la vista. Por otro lado, los efectos de sonido que tiene el anime también llaman mucho la atención por estar muy bien hechos y añadidos, dándole a cada enana, cada golpe, cada explosión un impacto bastante fuerte. Y por supuesto, la banda sonora tan llamativa que tiene este anime es ese complemento que genera esa sensación de epicidad y emoción a cada batalla y cada momento. Como ya dije, este anime es sin duda alguna todo un espectáculo audiovisual con una historia fantástica y repleta de momentos emocionantes.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 9.5/10 en lo que respecta al género de fantasía y acción.

I remember one of the things I wished for when I was younger was to be a musketeer or a knight like barbie in barbie and the musketeers movie. Me and my sisters, we'd tie a piece of cloth around our necks and shoulders to serve as a cape,then we'd use the iron sticks from the clothe hangers as our swords to fight each other, saying the word, "engarde" multiple times. Sometimes, we'd go magic against sword. I'd be the knight,with a mop stick in between my legs to serve as my horse and my trusty sword and my sisters, the mages with pencils as their wands.
Watching this anime took me back to when we used to grapple for the invincible prize. Honestly,when I first saw the cover image I was unconvinced it was going to be a good anime.Never judge a book by its cover!. I got the recommendation to watch it from someone here and I decided to give it a try.

Wistoria:wand and sword is a fiction anime series,aired its first episode on the 7th of July 2024 and ended it around September. It has a total of 12 glorious pieces of fiction. It revolves around a teenager, Will Serfort. Will attends a school for upcoming mages, a school that grooms its students on how to use magic. In this world,magic is infinite. The highest of the highest, those who can't do magic are looked down on, stomped and crushed. With Will unable to do any form of magic,he has to battle creatures in the dungeon to earn credits for school. He's really good with a sword but swords aren't really a thing in magic academies. It all comes down to these two questions; Will's sword against wands? Or Will's sword and wands?
I wish to talk some more about the plot of this anime but it's a short one and it's a really simple plot so exposing a bit more might be considered spoilers and I wouldn't really like to read that, I'm sorry. Wistoria: wands and swords is a simple and beautiful anime. Of course, you'd definitely be able to predict the main thing here:the weakest will eventually strive to be the strongest. It's the most obvious thing in the series but apart from that fact,every other thing is incredible. The creativity of this anime is so good,I love how the mangaka managed to turn it into something exciting and breath taking at the same time. Although,it did remind me a bit of solo leveling when I saw the dungeons and beasts,they had some similarities with the ones in it except this dungeon was beneath their school.

Overall, I'd give this anime a solid 7 out of 10, there wasn't any bad episode and it gave me a little adrenaline pump.

Recuerdo que una de las cosas que deseaba cuando era más joven era ser mosquetera o caballero como Barbie en Barbie y las mosqueteras. Mis hermanas y yo nos atábamos un trozo de tela alrededor del cuello y los hombros para que sirviera de capa, luego usábamos los palos de hierro de las perchas como espadas para luchar entre nosotras, diciendo la palabra "engarde" varias veces. A veces, jugábamos magia contra espada. Yo era el caballero, con un palo de fregona entre mis piernas para servir como mi caballo y mi fiel espada y mis hermanas, las magas con lápices como sus varitas.
Ver este anime me hizo recordar cuando solíamos luchar por el premio invencible. Honestamente, cuando vi la imagen de la portada por primera vez, no estaba convencida de que fuera a ser un buen anime. ¡Nunca juzgues un libro por su portada!. Alguien aquí me recomendó verlo y decidí darle una oportunidad.

Wistoria: varitas y espadas es un anime simple y hermoso. Por supuesto, definitivamente podrías predecir lo principal aquí: los más débiles eventualmente se esforzarán por ser los más fuertes. Es lo más obvio en la serie, pero aparte de ese hecho, todo lo demás es increíble. La creatividad de este anime es muy buena, me encanta cómo el mangaka logró convertirlo en algo emocionante y asombroso al mismo tiempo. Aunque me recordó un poco a la nivelación en solitario cuando vi las mazmorras y las bestias, tenían algunas similitudes con las que estaban en él, excepto que esta mazmorra estaba debajo de su escuela.
