   Hello everyone, dear anime fan community. I hope you are feeling great today, this time I want to talk about a comedy and romance anime that I really liked.... It has become one of my favorites and I think that surely many of you will like it... it is a jewel that I feel it is a little hidden, but people who usually know it are fascinated. It is the anime: Watakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku. As someone who has seen a good batch of romantic comedies, I can confidently say that this series stands out above the rest for certain reasons, the first being its focus on adult characters...it's really refreshing to see a love story that doesn't take place in a high school, but in a more work environment. The main characters, Narumi and Hirotaka, along with their friends Hanako and Kabakura, are adults with jobs, responsibilities and experiences that are interesting to visualize, they are grown people trying to somehow have fun and find peace in their hobbies.. this adds a lot of realism and maturity that you don't often see in this genre.
   The premise is a bit simple, but I find it to be quite effective, a group of otaku friends navigate love and adulthood... It may seem like a no-brainer, but what makes this series work so well is the chemistry between the characters. Narumi and Hirotaka are childhood friends who reunite and have a really adorable dynamic, their relationship feels very natural and their interactions focus on funny and extremely tender moments. On the other hand, Hanako and Kabakura offer a somewhat different perspective on long-term relationships, and it's interesting to see how they behave both in their private lives and at work, and watching them join the other couple in the group to do various activities is fun and interesting.

   Hola a todos, querida comunidad fanática del anime. Espero que se encuentren muy bien en el día de hoy, en esta ocasión les quiero hablar de un anime de comedia y romance que me gustó mucho.. Se ha vuelto uno de mis favoritos y creo que seguramente les gustará a muchos de ustedes.. es una joya que siento que está un poco escondida, pero las personas que normalmente lo conocen quedan fascinadas. Se trata del anime: Watakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku. Como alguien que ha visto una buena tanda de comedias románticas, puedo decir con confianza que esta serie destaca por encima de las demás por ciertas razones, la primera es su enfoque en personajes adultos.. es realmente refrescante ver una historia de amor que no se desarrolla en un instituto, sino en un entorno más laboral. Los protagonistas, Narumi y Hirotaka, junto con sus amigos Hanako y Kabakura, son adultos con trabajos, responsabilidades y experiencias que son interesantes de visualizar, son personas adultas que intentan de alguna manera divertirse y encontrar paz en sus pasatiempos.. esto añade mucho realismo y madurez que no se vea a menudo en este género.
   La premisa es un poco simple, pero considero que es bastante efectiva, un grupo de amigos otaku navega por el amor y la vida adulta.. Puede parecer algo sin muchas complicaciones, pero lo que hace que esta serie funcione tan bien es la química entre los personajes. Narumi y Hirotaka son amigos de la infancia que se reencuentran y tienen una dinámica realmente adorable, su relación se siente muy natural y sus interacciones se centran en momentos divertidos y sumamente tiernos. Por otro lado, Hanako y Kabakura ofrecen una perspectiva algo diferente sobre las relaciones a largo plazo, y es interesante ver cómo ellos se comportan tanto en su vida privada como en el trabajo, y verlos unirse a la otra pareja del grupo para hacer diversas actividades es divertido e interesante.

   This anime does a great job of showing us how the characters try to balance all their passions with their professional and personal lives... it's funny to see Narumi trying to hide his love for manga at work, or Hirotaka dividing his free time between video games and his girlfriend. These are situations that many adult fans of this type of hobby can relate to. This anime also has a very good humor, I consider that is another strong point of this series, all its references to otaku culture are abundant and hilarious, but they are not so specific as to turn away some less familiar viewers.. the jokes about office life and everyday situations also bring many more laughs.. you don't necessarily need to be an otaku to watch this anime, you can appreciate all those jokes or the comedy itself without worrying if you are going to understand all the references or not..
   Visually, this series has pretty decent animation, it has a simple and clean visual style that works excellently for the story we are watching. All the spatial expressions of the characters are effective to convey all the emotions, I think it can stand out a bit in certain aspects more than others, but overall it is an animation that is very well done... although it is not the eighth wonder of the world, I think it is nice and at least I did not find any bad taste in terms of animation.
   The soundtrack also deserves a special mention... the opening of this series is incredibly catchy and perfectly represents the overall tone of the series, also the background music that complements the scenes helps a lot to make the viewers feel immersed in the things that are happening. Especially in some of the more emotional or romantic moments, the soundtrack really elevates the scenes.

   Este anime hace un gran trabajo al mostrarnos como los personajes intentan equilibrar todas sus pasiones con sus vidas profesionales y personales.. es divertido ver a Narumi tratando de ocultar su amor por el manga en el trabajo, o a Hirotaka dividiendo su tiempo libre entre los videojuegos y su novia. Son situaciones con las que muchos adultos aficionados con este tipo de pasatiempos pueden llegar a identificarse. Este anime también tiene un humor muy bueno, considero que es otro punto fuerte de esta serie, todas sus referencias a la cultura otaku son abundantes e hilarantes, pero no son tan específicas como para apartar a algunos espectadores menos familiarizados.. los chistes sobre la vida de la oficina y las situaciones cotidianas también aportan muchas más risas.. no necesariamente necesitas ser un otaku para ver este anime, puedes apreciar todos esos chistes o la comedia en sí sin necesidad de preocuparte si vas a entender todas las referencias o no..
   Visualmente, esta serie tiene una animación bastante decente, tiene un estilo visual sencillo y limpio que funciona excelentemente para la historia que estamos viendo. Todas las expresiones espaciales de los personajes son efectivas para transmitirte todas las emociones, creo que sí puede destacar un poco en ciertos aspectos más que en otros, pero en general es una animación que está muy bien lograda.. aunque no es la octava maravilla del mundo, considero que es bonita y por lo menos yo no le encontré ningún error de mal gusto en cuanto a animación.
   La banda sonora también merece una mención especial.. el opening de esta serie es increíblemente pegadizo y representa perfectamente el tono general de la serie, también la música de fondo que complementa las escenas ayuda mucho a que los espectadores se sientan inmersivos en las cosas que están pasando. Especialmente en algunos momentos más emotivos o románticos, la banda sonora eleva mucho las escenas.

   Although with only 11 episodes, sometimes it feels like the series lacks time to fully develop some plots... you can see that characters that were introduced a little later don't get as much attention or development as they deserve. Also, even though the pacing is a bit slow, and this is part of the charm of the series, of course, there are times when some episodes feel like nothing relevant is happening... Despite these drawbacks though, I feel that this anime achieves something quite remarkable... it presents adult relationships in a way that feels really unique and recognizable. There are no big dramas or contrived misunderstandings that prolong the episodes unnecessarily, instead, we see mature people, communicating, solving problems together and supporting each other in their passions and hobbies.
   What can be appreciated most about this anime is how it celebrates being an anime, manga or video game lover without falling into negative stereotypes... the characters have full and satisfying lives, and their hobbies are presented as a normal and healthy part of who they are, not something they need to overcome or hide. As someone who has experienced a bit of anxiety about sharing her own interests so as not to be labeled a nerd, I deeply identified with some of Narumi's struggles.... It's interesting to see how she finds the confidence to be herself with the support of people who understand her, and realizes that she doesn't need to hide who she is to truly be happy. It's something that can be very inspiring.

   Aunque con solo 11 episodios, a veces se siente que a la serie le falta tiempo para desarrollar completamente algunas tramas.. se puede observar que personajes que fueron introducidos un poco más tarde no reciben tanta atención o desarrollo como éstos merecen. Además, aunque el ritmo en parte sea un poco lento, y esto es parte del encanto de la serie, por supuesto, hay veces que algunos episodios se sienten que no pasá nada relevante.. Aunque a pesar de estos inconvenientes, siento que este anime logra algo muy notable.. presenta relaciones adultas de una manera que se siente realmente única y reconocida. No hay grandes dramas ni malentendidos artificiales que prolonguen los episodios innecesariamente, en su lugar, vemos a personas maduras, comunicándose, resolviendo problemas juntos y apoyándose mutuamente en sus pasiones y pasatiempos.
   Lo que más se puede apreciar de este anime es cómo celebra ser un amante del anime, manga o videojuegos sin caer en estereotipos negativos.. los personajes tienen vidas plenas y satisfactorias, y sus aficiones son presentadas como una parte normal y saludable de quienes son, no como algo que necesitan superar o esconder. Como alguien que ha experimentado un poco la ansiedad de compartir sus propios intereses para no ser tachado de nerd, me sentí profundamente identificado con algunas luchas de Narumi.. Es interesante ver cómo encuentra la confianza para ser ella misma con el apoyo de las personas que la entienden, y se da cuenta de que no necesita esconder quién es para realmente ser feliz. Es algo que puede resultar muy inspirador.

   This anime also shows what different types of relationships are like. The dynamic between Naruni and Hirotaka is sweet and comforting, while Hanako and Kabakura's offers a view of a much more mature relationship with its own challenges and joys... it's a fairly realistic depiction of how love can look different for different couples, and it's not necessarily a bad thing. Another interesting aspect is how the otaku types are addressed, each character representing a different facet of this culture. Narumi with her love for manga and cosplay, Hirotaka with her passion for video games, Hanako with her fondness for anime or BL content, and Kabakura with her slightly milder interest than the others....
   I think this diversity shows that there is no one way to be an otaku, and it very much celebrates what would be the different expressions of each hobby you like. The series also touches on a bit deeper themes, albeit in more subtle ways, for example, it explores how passions can come to affect relationships, both positively and negatively... We see some moments in which shared interests can strengthen the bonds between some characters, but there are also some situations in which their obsessions cause small conflicts or some internal misunderstandings...

   Este anime también muestra los que son los diferentes tipos de relaciones. La dinámica entre Naruni y Hirotaka es dulce y reconfortante, mientras que la de Hanako y Kabakura ofrece una visión de una relación mucho más madura con sus propios desafíos y alegrías.. es una representación bastante realista de cómo el amor puede verse diferente para diferentes parejas, y no necesariamente es algo malo. Otro aspecto interesante es cómo se abordan los tipos de otaku, cada personaje representa una faceta distinta de esta cultura. Narumi con su amor por el manga y el cosplay, Hirotaka con su pasión por los videojuegos, Hanako con su afición al anime o el contenido BL, y Kabakura con su interés un poco más leve que el de los otros..
   Creo que esta diversidad muestra que no hay una sola forma de ser otaku, y celebra mucho lo que serían las diferentes expresiones de cada afición que te guste. La serie también toca temas un poco más profundos, aunque de maneras más sutiles, por ejemplo, se explora cómo las pasiones pueden llegar a afectar las relaciones, tanto positivamente como negativamente.. Vemos algunos momentos en los que los intereses compartidos pueden fortalecer los vínculos entre algunos personajes, pero también se dan a cabo algunas situaciones en las que sus obsesiones causan pequeños conflictos o algunos malentendidos internos..

   They do a great job exploring some of the characters' insecurities...we see how each struggles with their own doubts, whether about their worthiness in the relationship, or how they are perceived by others...these vulnerabilities make the characters that much more endearing. The series also makes very effective use of art style changes to depict the characters' fantasies or thoughts. These moments add a lot of humor to the narrative, I find it very interesting how various feelings are portrayed by changing the structure of the animation a bit. There are episodes that revolve around anime conventions, online gaming sessions, or excitement of getting some kind of exclusive merchandise.
   These details show all the authenticity of what it means to be a fan of something, and are a pretty fun nod to the viewers... the series touches on themes like a hobby in the form of escape and solace, there are moments where we see the characters turn to their passions as a way to deal with sadness or disappointments in adult life, something that can be quite common. I also liked how the depiction of adult friendships itself was portrayed...the dynamic between the four main characters is quite heartwarming, showing how friendships can evolve and become stronger over time. It's great to see how these characters grow a bit over the course of the series...
   I really liked how more and more they are becoming a little more confident! I give this anime a 9/10 rating. I feel like it's not perfect, but it's still one of my favorite romance/comedy anime. I think it can leave you with a smile and a warm feeling inside you after each episode.. for anyone looking for a romantic, mature, funny and different romantic comedy, this is an excellent choice.... It's a series that I really wish it had more episodes, and not necessarily because the story that was incomplete, but because I really wanted to spend more time with these characters.    Hacen un gran trabajo explorando algunas inseguridades de los personajes.. vemos como cada uno lucha con sus propias dudas, ya sea sobre su valía en la relación, o sobre cómo son percibidos por los demás.. estas vulnerabilidades hacen que los personajes sean mucho más entrañables. La serie también hace un uso muy efectivo de los cambios de estilo artístico para representar las fantasías o pensamientos de los personajes. Estos momentos añaden mucho humor a la narración, me parece muy interesante cómo se representan diversos sentimientos cambiando un poco la estructura de la animación. Hay episodios que giran en torno a convenciones de anime, sesiones de juegos en línea, o emoción de conseguir algún tipo de mercancía exclusiva.
   Estos detalles muestran toda la autenticidad de lo que significa ser fanático de algo, y son un guiño bastante divertido para los espectadores.. la serie toca temas como un pasatiempo en forma de escape y consuelo, hay momentos en los que vemos a los personajes recorrer a sus pasiones como una manera de lidiar con la tristeza o las decepciones de la vida adulta, algo que puede ser bastante común. También me gustó cómo se retrató en sí la representación de las amistades adultas.. la dinámica entre los cuatro personajes principales es bastante reconfortante, mostrando cómo las amistades pueden evolucionar y llegar a fortalecerse con el tiempo. Es genial ver cómo estos personajes crecen un poco a lo largo de la serie..
   Me gustó mucho cómo cada vez más están un poco más seguros de sí mismos! Yo le doy a este anime una calificación de 9/10. Siento que no es perfecto, pero aún así es de mis animes románticos/comedia favoritos. Creo que puede dejarte con una sonrisa y un sentimiento cálido dentro de ti después de cada episodio.. para cualquier persona que busque una comedia romántica, madura, divertida y diferente, esta es una excelente opción.. Es una serie que realmente desee que tuviera más episodios, y no necesariamente porque la historia que estuviera incompleta, sino porque realmente quería pasar más tiempo con estos personajes. Realmente me han encantado. Y bueno, les dejo por aquí la intro de este anime para que le den un vistazo. Y nos veremos en las próximas reseñas. Cuídense mucho.

   Si bien se podría decir que es una comedia romántica, tiene mucho de slice of life, el ritmo es relajado y no hay objetivos en la trama, sólo mostrar unas parejas con gustos parecidos, y cómo superan diversos problemas o mejoran su comunicación.

   Sobre el tema, si bien es interesante ver como un aspecto, en este caso la afición otaku, puede condicionar una relación, se siente la falta de un desarrollo más completo del personaje o darle objetivos a la trama, por que sino queda una historia muy simple, o aumentar el lado cómico. El cierre es bastante abierto con solo 11 episodios, aunque hay 3 OVAs más por ver.

   La animación es aceptable, pero en ciertos momentos abusan de las imágenes estáticas, aunque es una serie que no necesita muchos despliegues, los momentos chibis en los juegos si se ven mal. Al comienzo no me convencía el intro y el ending, pero me acabo enganchando el segundo.

   Creo que le faltó una mayor cantidad de personajes, aunque tal vez eso ocurra en el manga, ya terminado.

   Hola jóvenes ilustres, ¿cómo están hoy?, que bueno, que bueno, porque yo amanecí con ganas de abrir el cajón de los recuerdos, cajón donde encontré una serie que me evoca mucha cercanía, así que voy a compartirles Wotaku Ni Koi Wa Muzukashii.

   RECAPITULEMOS…

   ¿Qué sucede si juntas a un gamer y una fujoshi? ¡Una gran comedia romántica! Momose Narumi, Hirotaka Nifuji, un par de amigos de la infancia que se vuelven a encontrar en medio de su entretenida relación laboral, junto a Koyanagi Hanako y Kabakura Taro, mostrarán que tan difícil es el amor para un “otaku” responsable.

   EN MI OPINIÓN…

   La mayor parte del tiempo, ser adulto responsable es duro (cuentas que pagar, un jefe que te desagrada, tu tía preguntándote cada navidad cuando te vas a casar, ya saben, lo de rutina ┐（─__─）┌), así que tener aficiones puede ser difícil, mantenerlas suele complicarse una vez que te enfrentas al campo laboral, a eso, súmale el hecho de que no haya quien comparta tus aficiones cerca de ti, pero, qué sucedería si encuentras el equilibrio entre tus aficiones, tu campo laboral y tu pareja?, así es, en este anime, nos envían al día a día de un gamer y una fujoshi que comienzan a salir, la historia es sumamente simple, no tiene nada de especial, pero entonces, ¿por qué es tan adictiva?, vamos a profundizar.

   En nuestra sociedad se suele poner una etiqueta a todo, a los que tenemos aficiones un poco más fuertes hacia los medios de entretenimiento asiáticos, sea cual sea, se nos suele llamar otakus (detesto las etiqueta, pero así es la realidad （￣ c￣）), y aunque actualmente, el decir que te gusta el anime o manga no supone casi ningún problema en la mayoría de los casos, yo crecí en una generación en la que era muy mal visto, e incluso se le consideraba malo, así que esta serie es entretenida, porque te habla de 4 personas que también llevan consigo la palabra otaku a cuestas, también de una generación que no acepta lo diferente, pero esta serie no es una crítica social en sí, es más el cómo viven sus días comunes dados estos entornos, equilibrando sus vidas personales, específicamente en torno a sus aficiones y al amor.

   Charlas amenas llenas de referencias entre personajes muy carismáticos con los que es fácil identificarse, hicieron tan popular este manga, que con justa razón aún vende bien en Japón, a pesar de ser un manga de capítulos cortos, y el anime igual recibió una buena aceptación, y aún se escucha de él en redes sociales a pesar de tener ya unos cuantos años encima, es un historias de la vida muy bien contado con un sentido del humor lo suficientemente suave para entrar en el momento justo, no solo con argumento, sino que también hace uso de la animación para agregar este entorno cómico y agradable.

   Su banda sonora es por demás característica de la serie, es animada y alegre, y el baile en su opening (opening que me encanta por cierto (～o￣▽￣)～o ) incluso se hizo viral con un montón de gente imitándolo, así que está por demás decir que es buena.

   Wotaku ni koi wa muzukashii, es un anime muy estilizado con escenarios de tokio que no palidecen, hace un excelente uso de su paleta clara de colores y tonos vívidos, con mucho detalle, pero sin llegar a lo artístico, así que es lo suficientemente flexible como para usarse como elemento cómico, algo muy parecido a lo que pasó con la animación de Kaichou wa maid sama, los diseños de los personajes (Koyanagi es mi favorita por cierto づ￣ 3￣)づ) son bonitos y acompañados con los seiyus explotaron perfectamente las personalidades que estableció el autor del manga, algo definitivamente bien logrado.

   TERMINANDO…

   Suspirar, ustedes recuerdan cual fue su primer anime?, ¿cuál fue su primer amor 2D? (No mientan yo sé que sí ( ￣▽￣)), ¿el primer videojuego que de verdad amaron?, este anime en definitiva te transporta a plantearte ese tipo de cuestionamientos, y de alguna manera, terminas casi incluyéndote en sus charlas, sin dejar de lado las situaciones de romance suave y “realista” que no se quedan fuera (aunque mi pareja favorita es la de Kabakura ╮（ ￣▽￣ ）╭), hace que esta serie sea especial.

   Bueno mis chacalillos, es todo por hoy, espero que disfruten de esta serie tanto como yo cada vez que la veo, y que les deje una sensación agradable, yo me despido, pero no sin desearles como cada semana que muy buenas las tengan y que mejor las pasen.

   Well Played Anime Industry, Well Played...

   In the last episode of 3 Episode Ruling for the Spring 2018 Anime Season, we examine the Otaku OTP of a Gamer and a Fujoshi in Wotakoi: Love Is Hard For Otaku (Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii) and highlight the series' otaku authenticity but question if there's really the need for the standard romance.

   Official Synopsis

   After discovering that they work at the same company, a gaming crazed otaku and a fujoshi reunite for the first time since middle school. After some post-work drinking sessions they begin dating, but will it be a perfect relationship for the two?

   3 Episode Ruling is a video series where I review the first 3 episodes of seasonal anime and make a verdict on whether you should watch or skip the series based on how things are going so far. Being seasonal this series only happens 4 times a year during the Winter (January), Spring (April), Summer (July) and Fall (October) Anime seasons.
