Happy start to the week, my creative friends, lovers of good music and a good movie or TV show. This time, I’m bringing you a different kind of review—because, yes, there are movies and TV shows that we love, that teach us lessons and make us reflect a little on life; however, there are also songs that you relate to, that touch your soul and your heart.

Feliz inicio de semana, mi gente creativa, amantes de la buena música y una buena película o serie. En esta oportunidad les traigo una reseña diferente, y es que sí, hay películas o series que nos gustan, que nos dejan aprendizajes, reflexionar un poco sobre la vida; sin embargo, también hay canciones con las que te identificas, que tocan tu alma y tu corazón.

One of my favorite bands is Imagine Dragons; they definitely have some really beautiful songs that are worth listening to. Even if you don’t understand what they’re saying—it’s not necessary—the rhythm, the sound, and even the lyrics offer comfort. For example, this song, which is one of their biggest hits, is called Believer; the band’s lead singer, Dan Reynolds, wrote it while going through a very severe bout of depression—it was a way for him to vent.

The song focuses on pain, on how resilient we can be, on channeling it in a positive way, and turning it into a driving force to move forward and overcome any adversity. Many of us have gone through very difficult times—not only emotionally but also physically—dealing with physical pain that weakens us, causes us to falter, and even makes us lose faith. With this song—and as the title aptly suggests—it’s a way to find the strength to react again, to remain hopeful, to believe in ourselves, and to believe in just how strong and brave we can become if we set our minds to it.

He also mentions a friend from school who was bullied; sadly, he fell into depression and, as a result of this harassment, took his own life—a truly tragic event. The pain of losing someone is a very hard blow, especially when it’s unexpected. This song is very moving, and even today it remains very popular, since many people continue to go through difficult situations that overwhelm us and cause us to fall into that abyss of depression and anxiety.

We’re all believers, resilient; we fall, but we get back up. Basically, that’s what this song is about—give it a listen if you can relate.

Uno de mis grupos favoritos es Imagine Dragons; sin duda tiene canciones muy bonitas que vale la pena escuchar. Así no entiendas lo que dicen, no es necesario; el ritmo, el sonido e incluso las letras te dan un consuelo con ellas. Por ejemplo, esta canción, que es una de las más sonadas, se llama Believer, que significa Creyente en español; este tema lo compuso el cantante del grupo Dan Reynolds, al atravesar por una depresión muy fuerte; fue con un desahogo.

El tema se enfoca en el dolor, en lo resistente que podemos ser, en canalizarlo de forma positiva y convertirlo en un motor para salir adelante, para superar cualquier adversidad. Muchos hemos pasado por momentos muy duros, no solo emocionalmente, sino físicamente, lidiando con dolores en nuestro cuerpo que nos debilitan, que nos hacen decaer e incluso perder la fe. Con este tema, y como bien lo dice el nombre, es una manera de volver a reaccionar, a seguir siendo creyentes, a creer en uno mismo, en lo fuertes y valientes que podemos llegar a ser, si nos lo proponemos.

Por otra parte, él también hace mención sobre un amigo del colegio al que le hacían bullying y, lamentablemente, cayó en depresión y, tras este acoso, acabó con su vida, algo muy triste. El dolor de perder a alguien es un golpe muy duro, sobre todo cuando es inesperado. Esta canción es muy emotiva e incluso hoy en día sigue siendo muy popular, ya que muchas personas siguen pasando por situaciones duras que nos envuelven y nos hacen caer en ese abismo depresivo y lleno de ansiedad.
