The film's final image left me speechless. That's the advantage of choosing films without knowing almost anything about them. They captivate and surprise me. This is one of those films that manages to fascinate me because it draws me in, plays with my emotions, makes me feel something beautiful, even something magical in its plot, only to then slap me with full force, because I have to wake up from the illusion and acknowledge that there's a lot of filth in the world.

An excellent film by the Italian filmmaker Nicolangelo Gelormini. This is his second film. I haven't seen his first, titled Fortuna, but I've already added it to my watchlist. It was only after seeing it that I learned the story is inspired by a true event. Of course, this gave me goosebumps, because it turns out that someone in real life had to pay the price for their innocence.

I'm one of those people who often complain about their problems and mistakes, but in those moments I don't realize all that I've accomplished in this short time on Earth. Because there are people, like the protagonist of this film, who lead utterly depressing and monotonous lives. The character is the stereotype of a middle-aged spinster who doesn't even have a sex life due to her lack of attractiveness, making her easy prey.

There are people like this in real life, extremely shy. They've lived under the thumb of their parents, invisible to everyone, unattractive to everyone, and deep down they mourn their lonely and sad lives. This is where the actress Valeria Golino delivers a magnificent performance. This actress was dazzling in her youth. If you search online or watch some of her older films, you'll see that she was an attractive woman, of course. Now she's 60, and with makeup that makes her look even worse, she transforms into Gioia.

I think that's the film's greatest strength. Luckily, it's an Italian production. Because when Hollywood makes a story where an older woman falls in love with a younger man, they look for Anne Hathaway or Nicole Kidman, who, full of Botox and other cosmetic procedures, look like sisters of the young protagonists, which makes the whole story lose credibility. In contrast, in Gioia, the woman is 60 years old in real life, which lends credibility to the story.

As I mentioned a few paragraphs ago, the film is based on real events. Specifically, the case of Gloria Rosboch, which occurred in a region of Italy approximately ten years ago. I recommend that you don't look up information about the real case until after seeing the film. While the film's ending shocked me, when I researched the real case, everything that happened deeply moved me.

The film, although it tells a tragedy, is also a beautiful film. There are truly magical sequences, a pure cinematic language, the kind that makes me love cinema. It also has some painful moments. They know how to play with our emotions, and that's the secret to making a good film. As expected, good films like this one seem to have little exposure, little distribution, and no streaming platform algorithm will recommend them to you, because that algorithm is designed to hide the good stuff and only offer you garbage.

The Italian actress Jasmine Trinca also appears in the film in a supporting role. It was a pleasure to see her again. This actress captivated me with her character in "The Best of Youth," where she played Giorgia, the mute woman, the protagonist of the most memorable scene with the song "A Chi" by Fausto Leali. Here she is, still beautiful at 45.

La imagen final de la película me dejó sin palabras. Esa es la ventaja de elegir películas sin saber casi nada sobre ellas. Me atrapan y me sorprenden. Esta es una de esas películas que logra fascinarme porque me involucra, juega con mis emociones, me hace sentir algo hermoso, incluso algo mágico en su trama, para luego darme una bofetada con toda su fuerza, porque tengo que despertar de la ilusión y confirmar que hay mucha porquería en el mundo.

Una excelente película del cineasta italiano Nicolangelo Gelormini. Esta es su segunda película. No he visto la primera, titulada Fortuna, pero ya la he añadido a mi lista de películas pendientes. Fue solo después de verla que supe que la historia está inspirada en un hecho real. Por supuesto, esto me puso la piel de gallina, porque resulta que alguien en la vida real tuvo que pagar el precio de su inocencia.

Aquí es donde la actriz Valeria Golino ofrece una actuación magnífica. Esta actriz era deslumbrante en su juventud. Si buscan en internet o ven algunas de sus películas antiguas, verán que era una mujer atractiva, por supuesto. Ahora tiene 60 años, y con un maquillaje que la hace ver aún peor, se transforma en Gioia.

Creo que esa es la mayor fortaleza de la película. Por suerte, es una producción italiana. Porque cuando Hollywood hace una historia donde una mujer mayor se enamora de un hombre más joven, buscan a Anne Hathaway o Nicole Kidman, quienes, llenas de bótox y otros retoques, parecen hermanas de los jóvenes protagonistas, lo que hace que toda la historia pierda credibilidad. En cambio, en Gioia, la mujer tiene 60 años en la vida real, lo que le da credibilidad a la historia.

Como mencioné hace unos párrafos, la película está basada en hechos reales. Específicamente, en el caso de Gloria Rosboch, que ocurrió en una región de Italia hace aproximadamente diez años. Les recomiendo que no busquen información sobre el caso real hasta después de ver la película. Si bien el final de la película me dejó impactada, cuando investigué el caso real, todo lo sucedido me conmovió profundamente.

La película, aunque narra una tragedia, también es una película hermosa. Hay secuencias verdaderamente mágicas, un lenguaje cinematográfico puro, del tipo que me hace amar el cine. También tiene algunos momentos dolorosos. Saben cómo jugar con nuestras emociones, y ese es el secreto para hacer una buena película. Como era de esperar, las buenas películas como esta parecen tener poca difusión, poca distribución, y ningún algoritmo de plataforma de streaming te las recomendará, porque ese algoritmo está diseñado para ocultar lo bueno y solo ofrecerte basura.
