The movie 180 is a 2026 South African crime thriller, a movie written by Alex Yazbek, starring Prince Grootboom as Zak Sigcawu, a story of a family man, the made an ordinary confrontation that led to grief, vengeance and regrets, his whole life changed dramatically after a confrontation, which led to the loss of his son after suffering an injury. A 94 min movie with lessons to teach its viewers.

180 shows how quickly the whole life of a person can change because of uncontrolled anger, just a moment of anger can change your whole life and whole existence. Zak was first introduced as a responsible dad who just wanted to build a life for his son and wife , living a peaceful life , but after that sudden incident that led to the loss of his son, Zak had to fight back, revenge was all he could think of and the police were already corrupt, not willing to help Zak, and he decided to act on his own, take matters in his hands ignoring the law and it consequences and this transformation of Zac gave this movie an emotional weight.

The main character, Prince Grootboom, is one of this movie's greatest strengths, his performance was really realistic, he embodied the character Zak, he showed grief, frustration, desperation and rage in very realistic and believable ways that kept the viewers glued to the screen. His actions really made this movie interesting to watch. His wife, Noxolo Dlamini as Portia also gave an amazing performance as a grieving mother and a woman who wanted Zak to learn to control his anger amidst their sorrow.

The setting of this movie also made it quite exceptional, it wasn't just about the location, but the background, the film uses location as background. The environment, streets and community were incorporated into the story. The cinematography was a great one, it made the movie really interesting to watch and very distinct from most action movies.

However, the movie 180, has its own weaknesses, the storyline isn't unique it's the regular revenge story, which is a familiar one, the storyline of individuals taking revenge on their own when authorities fail them is a familiar one, and I have watched many movies like that. Zak was the only fully developed character in this movie, other characters seem underdeveloped to me and that makes the movie center on just Zak , an angry man seeking revenge and going after his son Killers. At some point, the movie became really predictable and what kept me watching was the action, not the storyline.

But yet this movie passed didactic messages to the viewers, raised questions about justice, anger, accountability and the consequences of violence. The movie also shows us how, even after revenge, people still deal with the guilt of being destructive . It shows the danger of anger in many ways, the moral lessons this movie passed away emotional indepth really made it interesting to watch.

In conclusion, 180 (2026) isn't just an action and crime thriller, but also a movie that explores great themes and morals. It shows anger and its consequences in very realistic and believable ways, it's really an engaging movie to watch, with enough tension and emotional depth. I will be rating 180 (2026) a 70/100, the movie is really worth watching.
