More subscriber perks and some more optimization?

Today I worked on some more subscriber perks, so you'll get more bang for your 2 bucks, basically.

The way it's set up right now, you can choose either a $2 sub or a $5 one, with a small % going towards burning hive to avoid wash. With the $2, 1.94 goes towards the site, with that $1.94, 50% goes towards your agent fee, so depending how much you use it, roughly $1 per subscription is available for your user, meanwhile 25% of that goes towards your translation fee, which I implemented today. So for transparencies sake, the site only keeps roughly 20% of the subscription cost if you use both agent and translation to the max that month.

The translation is easy, users now have user settings, there you can choose your local language and/or currency if you wish that to be displayed on pending shortform/longform content. You can also choose for comments under your own posts to automatically get translated to your chosen language. If not auto, then there's the usual translation symbol icon at the end of a post (will fix to top of posts rather now that I think about it), and next to comment upvote buttons. Probably need to figure out a better placement for comments as well.

I then decided to do some more optimization of the website pages using a different effort with opus 5, which seemed to work well for a while but I noticed eventually it had just decided to switch effort, so not sure how that all went down. Some sites seem to have improved, even for my connection halfway around the world of the server, while some may be a bit laggy atm and getting stuck at times. The idea was that it'd proxy a lot more stuff and reduce thumbnail sizes to faster load the pages. A bit over my head with some things there but as long as the site remains secure it's probably good enough for now. Let me know if you notice a difference.

Bit of a tired and annoyed day today, I wanted to also get to some better graphic optimizations going for the lower left review section as it feels like the empty background is a bit meh compared to the rest of the page, maybe something similar to what I did for movie reviews.

Basically the same thing I did for the description on the watch pages but for the reviews, give them a little bit more room and this abstract background:

Not sure if that may be too much though or if I'm focusing on the wrong things. I might just add profile pics of users there instead given it also shows quick takes.

I'd kinda wanna start getting back to holozing stuff but at the same time I keep finding myself more things to do on a daily basis. At the same time more people are joining in with a lot of opinions about the site which is nice but also a bit like okay slow down you just got here.

Anyway, that's it from me today, laters!

PS. I watched Predator Badlands yesterday and it was pretty good!

there's a lot of shitposts being overrewarded lately, just cause price is down doesn't mean things should get 100+ hive payouts

I'll keep checking, thanks, I like this, but at the same time I'm getting to know it little by little.

By the way, did you run SEO on the website? Probable yes, but if not here's a report from which maybe some issues are worth fixing.

That sounds like a good direction. More perks for subscribers plus better optimization would definitely make the experience even better. 👍

  • All great, but make sure you give yourself a bit of breathing room too, that's important. 👍😀
