Here and there: Ten - Firenze, Italy

I've not been all over Italy but have seen and enjoyed and fell in love with a lot of it with more favourite places than I could easily list; high up on that list is the Tuscany region and the city of Firenze, (Florence) itself.

There's a lot of reasons I love it from the deep history, culture, art, food, it's sheer beauty, the people, the architecture and gardens and the ease at which a person can get into the countryside and immerse themselves in the Tuscan way of life. It's simply beautiful and I've completely enjoyed the several occasions I have stayed there, each for many days, and while I only speak very basic Italian I would go as far as saying I feel somewhat local. Ok, the locals would probably scoff at that and it's ok.

in this post I've selected only a few of my images and these, while sufficient to paint a picture, do Firenze no justice at all. I am looking forward to going back and experiencing more of Firenze and Tuscany in general and maybe I'll have the right camera on that occasions and end up with some better images.

In this post you'll see the Pontevechio, medieval stone closed-spandrel segmental arch bridge which spans the Arno, A view of the city, part of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore (Duomo), a couple views from inside the Boboli Gardens, one overlooking the Palazzo Pitti and the old Roman city wall with watchtowers which is legit cool! Imagine the legionnaires that stood post back thousands of years!

    Oh you're getting warmer! I often look at properties in Italy, virtually of course, daydreaming of living there. Those are some lovely photos, though that city looks way too large for me. The food and wine would be an intense experience I bet.

    The Tuscan way of life sounds like the essence of life, close to a perfect life, right?

    Those photos convey unique vibes; I hope to visit Tuscany one day and spend some time enjoying life there and some good wines with the right company ;).

    I loved the one of the Roman wall; how much history must be contained in just that stretch?

    With this series of posts, I'm creating a really cool list of future trips :)

    I have a feeling if my wife and I ever make it over to Europe, our first stop will probably be Italy. It has been on her bucket list as long as I have known her to visit there. I hope I am able to help her check that off one day.

    I have no idea if it is affordable is it to live in Italy in comparison to Lithuania. Italy looks like a beautiful place. I am happy that I live in Lithuania but I think that living in Italy would be cool as well.( and a bit further from russia so a bit safer as well.) On the negative side dating russian girls would be even more complicated. But then again I am not gonna be able to do that unless Hive goes to the moon...So perhaps Italy would not be bad choice after all.

    It is without doubt a real marvel. My great-grandfather was from Ancona and I am 25% Italian, it is a place that I love, I hope to go and visit part of it with my mother, who is 71 years old, so that she can get to know the land of her grandparents. Thank you for these wonderful pictures, I especially liked the bridge... beautiful country!

    Lovely photos - especially the one of the Duomo. I love Florence but just realise that I have not been back since my adventure whilst in university.

    Beauty of countryside with rolling hills takes your breath away.

    City of Florence you need to spend at least a week exploring on it's own, architecture, history, culture is all consuming once in old cities such as this.

    Nice photography capturing some of the highlights you enjoyed.

    I'm from Italy, which zones you visited?

    I have never been to Firenze even tough i wanted, it takes times to visit it all and with the little kid is not possible... However I have done last holidays in Tuscany and yea it's a good place to have a rest, the sea is also great (except near harbors)

    Great stuff! I've spent no more than maybe half a day in Firenze myself, in 91. Hope to make it back to Italy sometime, depends on how I'll be able to launch workshops and so on :-)

    I have to search the archive of photos from my trip to Florence and show some interesting ones 🙂

    A beautiful city where I only stayed for three days, not enough to see all the beauties. That's why I want to visit him again.
