  Do you think society places more value on a man's success than a woman's, or do you believe both are encouraged in equal measure? Have you also found any cultural difference in the way both genders are celebrated or are there some economic factors that have shaped your view on why a man's success might be appreciated the most?

  Answer Yes. Men success are placed with more value than the women. From inception, men are known as the head of the families, responsibility lies on them and women on the other hand were meant to be supporters.

  From creation and ancient time, men go out to work while the women were home caretakers. Wealth was measure by what men had accumulated and no women's possession was in record. Fast forward to this era, even though women still work and are breadwinners, society do not place more value on their wealth and that's because by default, women are not head but a support for their husbands.

  Men's wealth oftentimes serves wider purpose and need than that of the women. While a man cares for his family, he still have other responsibilities beyond his home while the women's wealth most often doesn't exceed herself and the family and this makes why men's success is appreciated the most.

  I'm just here to share my little point.

  This topic came at the right time because it was just yesterday I watched a video of a woman celebrating being a brand new car owner and what I expected in the comments section was just exactly what I meant,it's no surprise,it's has been happening like that before I even came into this world, talks like behind every woman is that man sponsoring her, a lot of bashing that her Toto has suffered and all.

  And I wonder, why do many feel a woman can be successful without laying back her back or being sponsored by a man, when a lady bagged a first class degree, some still assume she bride her way to that position. why is it hard for many to believe girls too work hard just like man but I think I get where this thinking is coming from, they believe girls don't have the power to do hard work just like men, so how do they get their money.

  They forget that it's not about working hard but working smart, especially in this digital age where woman are making millions from the comfort of their house.

  Women's achievement should be celebrated just like that if the men's. Some women work hard, build their business and stay consistent and they deserve the achievements not all women has a man behind their success.

  Yes, I have

  it happened very close to my father's house. This woman with her own money,a working class,a business guru , who doesn't wait for her husband to do things but do great things as the money comes wa totally downplayed by the whole husband family . to them, she is oppressing the man and want to indirectly be the head of the family and by so doing , shevwill not respect the husband again. ,the house she was building was out on hold.,her job was threatened, she was dieing slowing all because she stood her ground to break forth and be alright . thr only crime she committed was her gender ...why should she achieve all of that inside a man's house? when she isn't the head

  honestly , our society should grow pass this ignorance . all gender should be valued and applauded for every legal achievement rather than downplay ...we should really start doing better not behaving like the olden days generation

  Recently, value is being place also on women's achievement.

  But truth be told, the world will always place more value on men's achievement.

  Because, men are seen as the sole provider. Even in some cases you hear SOME ladies say, my husband's money is our money and my money is my money"

  Statements like these makes the world place more value on men's achievement.

  Women's achievements are becoming more recognized and celebrated in our society today and I'm happy about that. What makes this better is the fact that women are having more opportunities and assistance to thrive and succeed.

  It's absolutely true that society places more value on a man's success, and while that doesn't have a good look, it happens due to a combination of factors.

  One, many men are still raised and seen as sole providers. So people may wonder, what's the point of a woman achieving a great deal of success when she's not going to be a provider as well?

  Two, some women are still very stingy with their income. They've refused to break free from the societal standards that assumes them to only be a help mate. So even they may ask, what's the point of achieving this level of success when there's someone to take care of my needs?

  Thirdly, society is just largely misogynistic. So it's expected that whatever women achieve will be deemed far lesser than a man. This is why you find many men misbehaving and leaving nasty comments under the posts of women celebrating great feats! We all need to do better.

  Every spheres of gender with different problems to tackle. It doesn't really baffle me when a woman's success is not really valued like men cos before the success came around and struggling was still in process, men were considered to be the strong being to withstand all difficulties to succeed no matter what. So if they get the highest value from the same society when success comes then we shouldn't be surprised but even be marvelled at how wonderful judge this society can be.

  All the same, on a fair ground, it shouldn't be so. You would see a woman success been questioned because society believe that she can't succeed alone without the help of a man especially when there's the opposite gender in picture of the success.

  A woman who buys a latest ride is attached to a man, a successful business woman is attached to a man friend or even her husband like she can't actually succeed on her own with her hard work.

  We have so many things that the society reshaped and gave us a new way to look at especially on gender-based situations of which we must try to eradicate little by little till all are rectified. Everyone's hardwork and success should be valued and not undervalued because they are of a particular gender or because we think they can't do it without the other gender.

  I.

  I don't know if to come in as a Nigerian. But I feel it's same almost everywhere. I've come to notice thatbin this world that we live in a man's success/achievement is celebrated differently from that of a woman. When you see a man achieving some level of greatness like having a thriving business or working in a very good company, earning well, doing well for himself and financially stable everyone began to praise him, pray for him and wish that he keeps increasing... Maybe because we all believe or know he should be the provider for his home, and all of those things he's achieved would make it easier for him to do his responsibilities. But when a woman achieve the same too, she's being celebrated too, just that a lot of us attaches questions to our praises... We ask if she won't have to choose between her marriage and career, we ask or wonder if she will still remain humble and respectful, we ask if she won't see her husband less of a man... And all of that shows that culture still influences how we see success. I believe we all are humans, and we are humans first before we are either man or woman. So, as humans we all deserve same level of praise and encouragement. Regardless of gender everyone needs to be appreciated, respected and supported. Because at the end of the day, success itself has no gender.

  II.

  I have actually seen an instance where the woman wasn't given same attention, respect, and encouragement as the man. They happen to be husband and wife though, I can't really say who was richer but I feel the woman is, both are actually doing well for themselves though. But then, I do hear people say then that, who even knows how she got all of that, as if she had to do something or bribe her way through to greatness... Why don't you think the man did something too or bribed his way up there. It might look small, but it shows how we often judge success and successful people at times. Like I said earlier, success has no gender. So regardless of whether I'm a man or a woman, i need to be seen, encouraged, and appreciated for my determination, spirit, hardwork, talent and all. And everyone and every system has a role to play in this.. the society, the parent, workplaces, school, and even the media should celebrate success/greatness equally.

  Success isn't gender based, success is for anyone who's willing and determined to work for it.

  Topic Suggestion:Should parents treat their children same way, or should every child be raised differently based on his/her personality? Why?
