LIMA STREET DIARIES: THE LONG ROAD BACK / EL LARGO CAMINO DE REGRESO [ENG-ESP]
“An image keeps the silences that words cannot reach.”

Hello monochrome community, back here! I know I'm not being consistent, but I always have this refuge which is photography. It helps me a lot to go out, observe, and clear my mind, which never stops. Really, the sudden mood swings—going from euphoria and joy to sadness and despair—are exhausting. Photography turns things off, but sometimes what I feel influences it too. Today in downtown Lima I had to pick up my grandmother's ID. I walked a lot, but I couldn't capture many good moments because I had the shutter speed at 1/160 and many photos came out blurry. You can imagine the return trip when I looked at them closely on the camera—I felt a deep despair. But well, I had faith that maybe I could rescue some, and some turned out well, and I want to show them to you. At least it's a way to keep myself active in the community and show a bit of my work.
I don't know, I'm not very inspired. My therapist tells me I'm going through a stage of anhedonia; I didn't know what it was, but it's when nothing interests you or motivates you. I tell him that taking photos motivates me, that it's something solitary because I don't have a community among my photographer circles, so sometimes I hold back a bit, and that doesn't make me grow or make a network of contacts. Well, reading this must be like alphabet soup because I change topics every moment—well, that's also how my brain works, it has no order. Writing this post, many emotions pass by, or a reminder of everything I did on autopilot during the day. Leaving La Molina, my district, to go downtown is very far, so I spent a lot of time there. Before, I used to grab the camera and look for framings between people, looking for the face framed between bodies, or the holes in the seats, handrails, among other things. I've lost the touch, but I don't give up, as Mario my therapist says: living like this your whole life makes you a survivor. And well, life is made to suffer more than to be happy, that's what I feel, and I won't go on because I think I'm just venting and not talking about the photos I took. I'll leave them to your judgment so they can speak for themselves. I wish you good vibes and the best energies. I only have left to say: "An image keeps the silences that words cannot reach."
