Drunkenness. In our younger days, we often indulged a bit too much in those "vital" drinks—or that "vital fluid," depending on the perspective of the reader and the writer alike.
In Latin culture, the presence of "sinful" drinks at our parties and in our social habits is seen as a normal part of our shared memories. In Venezuela, for instance, we have rum, beer, the popular *Ponche Crema*, and so many others. Of course, the point here isn't to discuss whether or not to drink, but rather to explore the effects and consequences of being "drunk"—without having consumed a drop of alcohol.
Drunk without alcohol
It seems inconceivable, yet it is entirely possible to be so immersed, focused, or "drunk" on something that we must consciously apply our concentration and attention—truly focusing on what we are doing. Let’s not even talk about trying to grasp a WhatsApp message; we’ve all been there, reading something and failing to understand what on earth we just saw.
And that’s despite the fact that we do make the effort to read wordy emails—not to mention posts exceeding 500 words—though, truth be told, if they are too long, we often lack the patience to read them through to the end. And let’s not even get started on how we react when faced with a book, whether physical or digital. Frankly, whoever claimed that reading is a waste of time stripped away the essence of being surprised and robbed us of our capacity for wonder.

En la cultura latina, se ve con normalidad como la influencia de bebidas pecaminosas en nuestras fiestas y consumos, forman parte de nuestra memoria. En el caso venezolano, podemos hablar del Ron, la cerveza, el popular “Ponche crema” y otras tantas… Claro está, acá no venimos hablar específicamente de tomar o no tomar, sino del efecto y consecuencia de lo que significa ser o estar “Borracho” sin consumos previos.

Es algo inconcebible, pero es posible estar inmersos, concentrados o “borrachos” y en este punto, hay que poner en práctica la concentración y atención, esto de poner cuidado y estar atentos a lo que hacemos. Bueno, no hablemos de comprender algún mensaje de whatsapp porque tendríamos una deuda personal por leer y no entender que rayos acabamos de ver.
Y eso que tenemos esa delicadeza de leer aquellos correos electrónicos con muchas palabras y ni hablar de aquellas publicaciones que pasan de más de 500 palabras; puesto que, si son muchas, no tenemos la paciencia de leerlas completamente. Por favor no hablemos como nos ponemos cuando tenemos al frente un libro ya sea físico o digital. Francamente, cuando alguien dijo que era una pérdida de tiempo la lectura, quitó la esencia de dejarnos sorprender o quitarnos la capacidad de asombro.

Let us reflect sensibly before answering ourselves and taking action...

Ojalá aprendamos a valorar más la lectura profunda y que el mundo se dé cuenta de las implicaciones benéficas para la humanidad no solo de leer sino del también “Saber leer” porque de inteligencia no moriremos…

Queremos lograr tanto sin comprometer mucho. Lograrlo todo de forma fácil sin esfuerzo alguno. En una cultura de lo ilícito esto es posible, pero en el mundo real las personas de gran éxito, tienen carácter y una postura que incluye amigos y enemigos por ello… Y ante la primera critica nos sentimos pequeños y no queremos continuar como si eso determinara nuestras acciones ¿Duele más la crítica ajena? o ¿Es más dolorosa la crítica propia? Pensemos con más sensatez para respondernos y luego actuar…

Y es cuando estamos inmersos, muy entregados hacia o por una causa, por esa pasión. Ese tipo de embriaguez, es la que hace posible que podamos hacer lo extraordinario: el secreto de las personas históricas de transcendencia que han marcado a la humanidad. El alcance lo ponemos nosotros, lo importante es hacer y enamorarnos de lo que hacemos para obtener algún resultado en nuestra experiencia. Esto no es una prueba moral ni científica porque hablo desde mi punto de vista personal, y el poquito éxito logrado no fue por suerte o por trampa, fue porque en muchas ocasiones estuve en el momento preciso y alcancé el producto de algo.
Claro está, que hay que saber rodearse de personas que puedan ayudarte a alcanzar el éxito. Uno solo no puede lograrlo y hay que sumarse en equipo para seguir emborrachados para lograr los objetivos. Tómate unos buenos tragos de esfuerzo y adelante, la vida es corta para no intentarlo. Hasta la próxima. Dios les bendiga…
