Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing wonderfully—healthy, well, prosperous, and full of life. Today, I am more convinced than ever that we should be grateful for life and for our health. I spent three nights in a hospital, where I witnessed so much: so many sick people, so many cries, so much inefficiency—but also so much kindness and, at times, such coldness. It really makes you reflect on the fact that being in good health is priceless. It also reminds you that, just as there are bad things and bad people in the world, there are—by contrast—good people with truly big hearts.
Waking up in my own bed today—finally!—and having managed to get some good rest (despite the power being out all night), I feel a bit refreshed. I managed to de-stress, as I often do, by reading. In one of the things I read, I came across an image of a banana taped to a wall—haha! It struck me as funny that this was considered a "work of art," and I was even more astonished to learn it was valued at 6.2 million dollars. The piece is titled Comedian (Comediante), and it’s the work of Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan.
Art can sometimes be strange—even downright crazy—but literature can be just as wild and bizarre. Inspired by this, I decided to craft a story about a monkey wandering the streets of France who, by chance, ends up in the famous museum where this piece is displayed... and, well, the inevitable happens.
A monkey walks through the Metz museum.
The story goes that, on one occasion, a monkey was traveling through France when it decided to visit the Centre Pompidou-Metz, a contemporary art museum located just a few blocks away. As it wandered around, admiring the magnificent works of art, it noticed a banana stuck to the museum wall with adhesive tape. The monkey waited for quite a while, but seeing that no one came to claim it—and feeling very hungry—it decided to take the banana and eat it. According to those who witnessed it, the monkey seemed very happy and satisfied, enjoying such an exquisite piece of fruit.
