First love

Estos días han sido extraños, me di cuenta que mi hijo está creciendo muy rápido y ya se anda enamorando jajaja, asi es, su primer amor… Una niña de su salón llamada Ademis, al principio me hablaba de ella como “su amiga” de hecho, siempre la ha mencionado, desde segundo grado…. Incluso sabe cuándo cumple años, aunque nunca le preste mayor atención a eso ayer me di cuenta que en realidad esa amistad era un sentimiento mas grande, me da mucha ternura porque son niños y son inocentes pero al mismo tiempo se siente extraño que esto haya llegado tan rápido jajaja.

These past few days have been strange; I realized my son is growing up so fast and he is already falling in love—haha, that’s right, his first love... A girl in his class named Ademis. At first, he spoke of her as "his friend"—in fact, he’s always mentioned her, ever since second grade... He even knows her birthday. Although I never paid much attention to it before, yesterday I realized that this friendship was actually something deeper. It’s really sweet because they’re just innocent kids, but at the same time, it feels strange that this has happened so quickly—haha.

Cuando íbamos camino a la escuela, mi hijo quiso detenerse a agarrar una flor para su amiga, me pereció muy tierno asi que lo deje, pero lamentablemente la niña no fue a clases ayer, asi que al final le dio las flores a su maestra jajaja.

On our way to school, my son wanted to stop and pick a flower for his friend; I thought it was really sweet, so I let him. Unfortunately, the girl didn't come to class yesterday, so he ended up giving the flowers to his teacher instead—haha.

Y el me dijo: “Mañana le llevare flores a mi amiga, espero que mañana si vaya” y hoy al salir de la casa no le recordé nada, quería ver si el solo se acoraba, cuando ya estábamos cerca de la escuela lo recordó y quería que regresáramos por las flores, en ese momento ya se nos hacia tarde y le dije que mejor le daba flores mañana, cuando de repente vi unas rosas blancas hermosas y se me ocurrió tomar una para que le regalara eso a su amiga, realmente la agarre con mucho miedo de que me regañaran ya que eran rosas de un edificio y en ese edificio son super delicados con esas rosas, por suerte nadie me vio pero en mi desespero de arrancar la rosa me clave las espinas varias veces jajajaja—Y finalmente pude tomarla y dársela a mi hijo, el se alegró muchísimo, nunca había visto una rosa en persona y esta era simplemente hermosa.

He told me, “Tomorrow I’m going to take flowers to my friend; I hope she actually shows up.” Today, when we left the house, I didn’t remind him of anything—I wanted to see if he’d remember on his own. Once we were close to the school, he remembered and wanted to go back for the flowers, but we were running late, so I told him he could just give them to her tomorrow. Then, I spotted some beautiful white roses and had the idea to pick one for him to give to his friend. I was actually terrified of getting in trouble while grabbing it, since the roses belonged to a building where they are extremely protective of them. Luckily, no one saw me, though in my haste to snap the rose off, I pricked myself on the thorns several times—haha!—but I finally managed to get it and give it to my son. He was overjoyed; he had never seen a rose in person before, and this one was simply beautiful.

Al salir de la escuela le pregunté como le fue y me conto algo que me dejo en shock, sinceramente estaba lista para que fuese su primera decepción amorosa, por alguna razón jajajaja, pero mi hijo me dijo que la niña le agradeció y le pidió ser su novio ¿WTF? NO SUPE NI QUE DECIR

When he got out of school, I asked him how it went, and he told me something that left me in shock. Honestly, I was prepared for it to be his first heartbreak—for some reason, hahaha—but my son told me the girl thanked him and asked him to be her boyfriend. WTF? I didn't even know what to say.

Ahora supuestamente tiene novia con 8 años!!! No se como manejar esta situación realmente jajaja, me dijo que quiere regalarle a su novia un dulce, realmente estoy en shock. Solo pude reírme de su inocencia y de lo tierno que me parece la situación.

Now, at eight years old, he supposedly has a girlfriend!!! I honestly don't know how to handle this situation—haha! He told me he wants to give his girlfriend a treat; I'm truly in shock. I could only laugh at his innocence and how sweet I find the whole situation.
