Greetings, dear friends. Today, while I was at work, I started observing how much the weeds had grown in such a short time. But why am I talking about weeds, brush, or grass today? I don't know what you call it; colloquially, we call it monte or gamelote. It's incredible how something that seems small today can cover a large part of a piece of land in just a few days if we let it spread. Those who have a dirt yard know how frustrating it is to clean the same area every fifteen days. But that's where the idea behind this post comes from. I think it's something worth talking about. And I don't know why, but as I watched it, I ended up thinking about life and all those things that gradually pile up without us even realizing it.
Sometimes, the same thing happens inside us. It starts with a small worry, a problem we put off until later, a disappointment we would rather ignore, or a situation we believe we can handle without being affected by it. But time passes, and when we least expect it, we have so much weighing on us that even breathing peacefully becomes difficult. It's like having a yard full of weeds and not knowing where to start cleaning, and even worse, watching the yard fill up with them again in just a few days.
That's why I believe that, just as we need to maintain our surroundings, we should also take care of ourselves. We need to examine what's hurting us, which thoughts are taking away our peace of mind, which situations we're still carrying unnecessarily, and what things we need to leave behind. We can't always solve everything at once or permanently. Difficult situations also grow like weeds, but at least we can start somewhere, gradually pulling out whatever is keeping us from moving forward. Ignoring problems doesn't make them disappear; often, it simply gives them more room to grow.
In the end, I find myself reflecting on something that occurred to me while observing a very ordinary sight: weeds growing at my workplace. We recently moved to an area that was once a pasture, located quite close to a river—conditions that make the ground exceptionally fertile for weeds. While we cannot prevent difficulties from arising in life, we can certainly ensure that they don’t end up taking over our entire space. Sometimes, we need to pause, gather our strength, and begin pulling out the weeds that have taken root within us. We may not manage to clear everything away in a single day, but every small effort counts when it comes to reclaiming our peace of mind.
