Greetings, fellow @fulldeportes members! As of today, October 17, 2026, four rounds of our Venezuelan baseball season have been played. I still believe it's too early to make long-term predictions, but, as in any sport, every result, no matter how small, can be crucial. Today, I'm talking once again about my beloved Nave Turca, which has had a very difficult start to the season. To sum it up, after yesterday's game, October 16, 2026, against Tigres de Aragua, Magallanes reached four consecutive games without a win. In fact, as of now, it is the only team with this record.
Yesterday was a frustrating day for Magallanes fans. The Nave Turca reached the ninth inning tied at three runs, forcing the game into extra innings. In the tenth inning, Magallanes took a heavy blow as the Aragua team scored five runs, delivering an immediate psychological setback. In their final opportunity at bat, the Nave Turca needed at least five runs to tie the game and force another inning, or six to walk off the field victorious against the Tigers and snap their losing streak. However, they managed to score only four runs, leaving us with the bitter taste of yet another defeat.
¡Fatal, fatal, extremadamente fatal! Seguimos perdiendo partidos desde el montículo.
This game started quite well, with an excellent outing from starting pitcher Víctor Vargas. For the first time this season, we finally saw a solid performance from a starting pitcher. Vargas pitched five innings, allowing just three hits and no runs. He was then relieved by Adolfo Oviedo, who also delivered an excellent performance by pitching one scoreless inning. As a result, Magallanes completed six innings without giving up a run and held a 3–0 lead.
However, starting in the seventh inning, things began to spiral downward following a terrible relief appearance by Wilmer Flores, who allowed two runs while recording just one out. The final straw was Jesús Reyes, who gave up five runs in the tenth inning. Terrible, terrible, absolutely disastrous! We continue to lose games because of our pitching.
As I publish this post, Magallanes is reliving the demons of last season and sits at the bottom of the standings. As for the head-to-head series, we have already lost the series against Tiburones and Tigres. Today, a three-game series against Cardenales de Lara begins and will run through October 19. I hope things go better for us during this stretch because, otherwise, the fight for a playoff spot could once again become an agonizing experience, just as it was last season.
