Beyond the Decaying Walls - watercolor painting
The fascination of decaying architecture lies in its ability to tell silent stories, where time has eroded the stone but not the dignity of the forms. In this watercolor, I wanted to focus on the decay and fragility of ancient structures, worn by the elements and swallowed by the surrounding nature. Each layer of color and every faded architectural detail seeks to capture the melancholy of forgotten buildings, silent witnesses of past eras resurfacing between light and shadow.
Following the creation of this artwork, step by step through the painting progress, allows one to see how the ruins slowly come to life on paper. The dialogue between warm earth tones and deep shadows defines fragments of crumbling walls and weathered facades, conveying a sense of eternal decline. I hope this visual journey through the vestiges of the past can evoke the same mood and reflection I felt while painting it.
