Hello, fellow travelers! I hope you all have a happy and blessed day. Today, I’d like to share my visit to the bridges and walkways along the Manzanares River. Although I’ve passed by here many times, I hadn’t truly noticed how beautiful these bridges are—perhaps some are new, given the fresh paint, or maybe I simply never stopped during my previous walks to admire these lovely works of art.

Starting from Plaza Vargas, you come across the first bridge. The path itself is quite charming—perfect for a stroll or a relaxing walk. From this spot, you can take in a great view of the river, the surrounding trees, and the reflection of the bridge in the water. Further along, there is a path lined with several massive ceiba (kapok) trees that canopy the walkway, stretching from the Gómez Rubio bridge all the way to Ayacucho Park. This stretch is one of my favorites because of the stunning scenery; you can also catch glimpses of parts of Guaiquerí Park. Beside the trees, there is a sheltered walkway, largely shaded by the branches of these lush, green giants.

In addition to taking a walk in this area, the goal was to view the murals. One that caught my eye features the inscription "Cumaná 500 years" on a scroll, accompanied by a quill and an inkwell. The first bridge incorporates a variety of colors, and its entrance is adorned with leaves representing the diverse flora that abounds throughout the city—and specifically within this park. From there, one can see the bridge and its connection to Guaiquerí Park; on one side, there is a beautiful hummingbird surrounded by flowers and plants.

Next is the second bridge, which stands out for its vibrant colors and, like the first, connects to Guaiquerí Park. Its murals depict the region's diverse flora, featuring leaves in a wide array of colors. My favorite mural is the one on the front of this second bridge: it shows a beautiful scarlet ibis (corocoro) in front of a lagoon. These birds are primarily found in the Bermúdez Municipality, specifically at the Copey Lagoon; I have seen these stunning, strikingly pink birds there on several occasions. This mural is truly lovely, and the landscape represents the Copey Lagoon—it even includes a swan swimming, surrounded by what appear to be mangroves, which are also found in that same lagoon. The murals on these bridges showcase the city's flora and fauna, and the first one notes that on November 27th, the city of Cumaná will celebrate its 511th anniversary. After admiring these beautiful paintings, I headed toward another part of the city.

Those huge ceiba trees must make walking along the river feel so nice and shaded on a warm day
