Today, I bring you my last three castles, bringing my total record to 66. I mentioned in my last YouTube video that I had a pleasant surprise for those following me on this project, which started as a hobby, has now become a personal goal, and will soon be a world record when I surpass 100. Remember that my ultimate goal is to be the first person to visit all the castles in Portugal. Hoy les traigo mis últimos tres castillos, y así completamos un récord de 66. Mencionaba en mi último video de YouTube que les traía una linda sorpresa a los que me acompañan en este proyecto, el cual comenzó como un pasatiempo, ahora es un récord personal y pronto será un récord mundial cuando supere los 100. Recuerden que quiero ser la primera persona en visitar todos los castillos de Portugal. This is definitely one of the strangest, or rather most creative, castles I've ever visited! It features a wooden structure right on the keep, which makes it stand out from the other 66 I've visited. Of course, it takes away from its originality and medieval feel, but what do you think? Is it beautiful? This one is located in Portalegre, a fairly large city in the Alentejo region. Unlike the other two (Alverca and Povos), this is the only one open to the public, haha.🏰📍
Definitivamente este es uno de los castillos más extraños que he visitado, ¡o más bien bastante creativo! Tiene una estructura de madera en la entrada, justo en la torre del homenaje, que lo hace diferente a los otros 66 que ya conozco. Claro, le quita originalidad y ese aire medieval, pero ¿qué opinan ustedes? ¿Es bonito? Este se localiza en Portalegre, una ciudad bastante grande en el Alentejo; a diferencia de los otros dos (Alverca y Povos), es el único que se encuentra abierto al público, jeje.🗺️🌏

The castle dates back to the 13th century and was commissioned by King Dinis in 1290. It was no longer the 12th century, the era of the Reconquista. Instead, it played an important role in the border defense against Castile. The wall is well-preserved and has twelve towers, but they are not open to visitors. That is, we cannot access the courtyard, only the keep and a museum, which is quite beautiful and comprehensive.🌍🗺️
El castillo data del siglo XIII y fue mandado construir por el rey Dinis en el año 1290. Al referirnos a esta fecha, ya no nos encontramos en el siglo XII, la era de la Reconquista; por el contrario, el castillo cumplió un rol importante en la defensa fronteriza contra Castilla. La muralla está bien conservada y tiene doce torres, pero no se pueden visitar. Es decir, no podemos acceder al patio, sino solo a la torre del homenaje y a un museo que es bastante bonito y completo.🚙🏰

I'm currently in Lisbon—not in the center, but in the district, in a small town called Povos (Vila Franca de Xira). Getting here is easier than to Portalegre, the previous castle, but there's something very interesting about this next castle, which actually qualifies as a ruin. Well, I decided that to break the record, ruins must be included! The Povos castle didn't even exist on Google Maps; I was the first one to register it!🚙🗺️
Estoy ahora en Lisboa, no en el centro, sino en el distrito, en una pequeña ciudad llamada Povos (Vila Franca de Xira). Llegar aquí es más fácil que a Portalegre, el castillo anterior. Sin embargo, hay algo muy interesante sobre el próximo castillo, que en realidad contaría como "ruina". ¡Bueno, decidí que para romper el récord deben entrar las ruinas! I wasn't the one who discovered the castle itself, because it already existed in historical records. However, no one had ever marked it on Google Maps, and to me, that is a true discovery! It's a hidden treasure that deserved to be shared with everyone, and I'm thrilled because contributing this to my goal of 100 castles adds a unique value!🚩😍

This is the oldest one I'm showing you today! Unlike the other two, this one didn't protect an Alentejo border. On the contrary, it protected the banks of the Tagus River, which borders Lisbon and was a route for invasion and piracy. It is believed that Povos had already been occupied by the Romans and later by the Arabs. What we see today are remains of the wall. Something very interesting to highlight is the medieval tombs carved into the rocks where medieval soldiers were buried.📍🗺️
¡Es el más antiguo que te presento hoy! A diferencia de los otros dos, este no protegía una frontera alentejana; al contrario, protegía las márgenes del río Tajo, que bordean Lisboa y eran una ruta de invasión y piratería. Se cree que Povos ya había sido ocupada por los romanos y, posteriormente, por los árabes. Lo que vemos hoy son restos de la muralla, y algo muy interesante para resaltar son las tumbas medievales excavadas en la roca, donde sepultaban a los soldados medievales.🏰💂🏻♀️

One of the most interesting things about the city is being so close to the river; you can do several activities there!🌏🧭 /Una de las cosas más interesantes de la ciudad es estar muy cerca del río; ¡puedes hacer varias actividades en él!📍🌏

Other ruins, however, still have their walls standing. This one was marked on Google Maps, which is how I found it, although it wasn't easy to get close enough to take a picture! It's also on the outskirts of Lisbon; you can reach it by train. It also dates back to the Roman and Arab eras, but there are more in-depth records of its importance during the Reconquista. Alverca was given to the foreign crusaders who aided in the conquests.📍🚩
Otras de las ruinas. Sin embargo, aún se mantienen las murallas. Este sí figuraba en Google Maps y por ello lo conseguí, ¡aunque no fue fácil acercarme a tomar una foto! También está en las afueras de Lisboa y puedes llegar a él utilizando el tren. Data de la era románica y árabe; sin embargo, hay registros más profundos sobre su importancia en la era de la Reconquista. Alverca fue cedida a los cruzados extranjeros que ayudaron en las conquistas.📸🏰
