Welcome, friends, to our new initiative on “Échame el Cuento,” a column that my friend @annafenix and I (@brujita18) maintain to encourage sharing within our community and help us get to know each other better. This time, we’re focusing on this month’s big event—none other than the ever-popular Halloween. This holiday is celebrated in many countries with different traditions, and the most popular one is dressing up—especially among the little ones, who dress up as their favorite characters and go from house to house asking for “trick or treat”; but this holiday isn’t celebrated only by children—adults join in as well—and that’s where the various decorations specific to this day come into play.
In many stores, spooky decorations are on full display, and in various nightclubs, tonight is also a cause for celebration. These customs have spread throughout the world, such is their popularity. But there are also people who choose not to celebrate this day, whether because it’s not to their taste or because of their religious or spiritual beliefs, since many legends, beliefs, and stories circulate online and among people regarding this date—stories that give it a negative connotation and mention unpleasant practices such as animal sacrifices and everything that this entails.
That’s why, over the next few days, we’ll focus on sharing stories about how we celebrate Halloween—whether we celebrate it or not—and, in such cases, discussing our reasons. If we have any stories of our own, or ones from family members or friends, we can share them as part of this initiative; the point is to interact and, as always, share stories about this holiday. Now that we’ve covered the introduction, let’s move on to the details of the initiative.
As for Halloween, share your story about this day with us
