Regarding this month's theme proposed by @avdesing for #youhive, I want to talk to you about not just one channel, but several that share the same theme. I have to confess that, at first, I had no idea what this activity was called; a quick, simple web search revealed it is known as "scrapbooking." Although the name is a bit of a tongue-twister for me, the activity itself is incredibly relaxing—even though I’ve never actually tried it myself. I am truly fascinated by the YouTube videos of the women who do this; I find it not only relaxing but also incredibly satisfying. This is especially true for videos featuring ASMR, which offer a hyper-realistic experience, making it feel as though the viewer is the one performing the task. I love hearing every sound in detail—especially when they use stickers or apply tape to the book and run a ruler over it to smooth it out.
A apropósito del tema de este mes propuesto por @avdesing para #youhive, quiero hablarles de, no solo un canal, sino varios que tienen la mima temática, al inicio tengo que confesarles que yo no tenía idea de como se llamaba esa actividad, así que bastó con una sencilla y rápida búsqueda en la web para descubrir que se llama "Scrapbooking" y aunque es un nombre que difícilmente puedo pronunciar sin errar es una actividad que me relaja mucho, a pesar de que nunca la he hecho, pero ver esos videos de youtube con chicas que hacen esto realmente me fascina, no solo me parece relajante sino también increíblemente satisfactorio, en especial los que tienen ASMR nos ofrecen una experiencia hiperrealista, como si el espectador estuviese trabajando directamente con esa actividad. Me encanta oír cada sonido con detalle, sobre todo cuando usan las pegatinas o pegan las cintas al libro y le pasan una regla para estirarlas.
In these videos, people let themselves be guided by instinct, imagination, or inspiration, though the theme is almost always Victorian. I also love the cases they use to store their supplies—and the supplies themselves, for that matter; they have all the necessary tools, such as tweezers, scissors, and paper clips, along with the materials for creating this art—paints, decorative tapes, stickers, fabrics, and lace. Sometimes they even use clippings from books or magazines, which gives the work an aged look—or "vintage" vibes, as people call it these days. I would love to take up this activity as a hobby, but I’m not even sure if these items are sold in my country. While school and office supplies are certainly available, I don't think you can find the specific, beautiful items seen in these videos—things made exclusively for this craft—or at least, I haven't seen them myself.
En estos videos las personas se van dejando llevar por su instinto, imaginación o inspiración, pero casi siempre es una temática victoriana. También me gustan los estuches que usan para guardar sus implementos, y de hecho me gustan los implementos en si, tienen todo lo necesario en herramientas como pinzas, tijeras, sujetadores de papel y desde luego los materiales para hacer este arte como pinturas, cintas decorativas, stickers, telas, encajes, algunas veces usan recortes de libros o revistas, lo cuál le da al trabajo una apariencia y unas vibras más añejado o "vintage" como le llaman ahora. Me encantaría dedicarme a esta actividad, adoptarla como pasatiempo pero ni siquiera sé si venden estas cosas en mi país, pues obviamente sí que venden material escolar y de oficina, pero específicamente cosas tan bonitas como las que uno ve en este tipo de video y que son exclusivamente para esta actividad no lo creo, o al menos yo no he visto.
Anyone who engages in this likely views it as an escape from their daily routine—a moment that is comfortable, relaxing, joyful, and creative. Speaking of creativity, I’ve always wondered whether these women start with a specific idea in mind or simply let their creative instincts guide them; it probably varies from person to person. I like seeing how the materials seem tailored to these artists' needs—designed to save time or effort. For instance, I’ve seen stickers printed with marks that look like chalk—likely to avoid the need for actual chalk and the risk of ruining the piece—as well as images that look hand-torn but come that way, though some artists prefer to do the tearing themselves to give their work a more natural look.
La persona que se dedica a esto debe tomarlo probablemente como una vía de escape de la rutina diaria, ese debe ser su momento más cómodo, relajante, feliz y creativo, y hablando de creatividad, siempre me he preguntado si estas chicas ya llevan una idea en la mente de lo que pretenden hacer o si simplemente se dejan llevar por su instinto creativo, probablemente eso depende de cada quién. Me gusta ver que los materiales que usan parecen estar diseñados para las necesidades de estos artistas, como para ahorrarles tiempo o esfuerzo, por que por ejemplo he visto algunas pegatinas que tienen impresas manchas que parecen hechas con tizas, probablemente para que no tengas que usar tiza real y correr el riesgo de arruinar el trabajo, también hay imágenes que parecen rasgadas a mano pero ya vienen así, aunque hay artistas que prefieren hacerlo por si mismos para darle un aspecto más natural a sus trabajos.
