The film is somewhat apocalyptic in nature; it centers on a family trapped in their home following a storm. With the entire neighborhood in the same situation, they are forced to ration food and water—and eventually even grow their own produce. Later, they realize that bizarre creatures are controlling everything around them, and at one point, they even manage to capture one of the beings.
La película es más o menos de corte apocalíptico, se trata de una familia que se queda encerrada en su propio hogar tras una tormenta, todo el vecindario están en las mismas condiciones, así que se ven en la obligación de racionar agua y comida e incluso posteriormente se ven en la necesidad de cultivar sus propios alimentos, posteriormente se dan cuenta que hay unas criaturas rarísimas que controlan todo a su al rededor, y en una ocasión incluso logran encontrar y atrapar a uno de ellos.
In a way, the film brings to mind the lockdown we experienced during the COVID pandemic—with its rationing of resources, uncertainty, and even mass hysteria—though it is obviously an exaggeration given the creatures and the like; the creatures perhaps serve as a metaphor for survival itself, as those difficult times gave rise to great uncertainty and, inevitably, battles over resources. However, if we were all like the family's young daughter, there would be no problems, because we would all be empathetic.
La película de cierta manera recuerda el confinamiento en el que estuvimos sumergidos durante la pandemia del Covid (racionamiento de recursos, incertidumbre y hasta histeria colectiva) aunque obviamente es una exageración por el tema de las criaturas y eso, las criaturas se añaden tal vez como una metáfora de la supervivencia en si, durante esos duros momentos surge mucha incertidumbre y desde luego empiezan las batallas por recursos, sin embargo si todos fuésemos como la hija pequeña de la familia no hubiese problemas porque todos seríamos empáticos.
It also strongly reminded me of the movie *Signs*, starring Mel Gibson, since it explores similar apocalyptic themes involving creatures—aliens, in that case. This intensifies the tension and heightens the fear of the outside world and the unknown; after all, people often experience a kind of claustrophobia and resentment at being confined, yet when they realize the outside poses a threat, they cling to the sanctuary their home provides.
También me hizo recordar muchísimo a la película Señales, Con Mel Gibson, ya que también explora la misma temática apocalíptica con criaturas (en ese caso extraterrestres) lo cuál intensifica la tensión y enfatiza el miedo al exterior, a lo desconocido, porque sí, en esos casos pasa que las personas experimentan una especie de claustrofobia y resentimiento por el hecho de estar encerrado, pero cuando ven que el exterior es una amenaza, se aferran al refugio que les proporciona el hogar.
Furthermore, the creatures do not necessarily act as mindless monsters driven by pure destructiveness, but rather as an ambiguous force of nature—neither good nor evil, simply an element that demands respect and must be treated with the utmost caution. The film was packed with moments of tension and action, so I didn't find it boring at all, and I liked that it left the door open for a sequel.
Por otra parte las criaturas no actúan necesariamente como monstruos sin inteligencia destructiva pura, sino como una fuerza de la naturaleza ambigua, la cuál no es ni buena ni mala, simplemente un elemento al que hay que respetar y tratar con suma cautela y respeto. La película tuvo muchísimos momentos de tensión y acción, así que no me resultó aburrida para nada, y me gustó que haya dejado abierta la posibilidad de una continuación.
