Heading south for a few days away and my granddaughter's christening tomorrow. Drive went well - a bit quicker at the front part and then slower through some rain showers
Got on the bike to walk a slice of Seven Mile Beach NP. I do like easy access to the bush with a ride and walk. Perfect start is a native violet for my granddaughter Violette whose christening is tomorrow
Mission today - maybe an early hyacinth orchid and some late caladenia orchids. Step one - a budding hyacinth orchid
Close up of the bud. Two ideas for ID - no spots and colour of the spike - rose hyacinth orchid
Did get a caladenia orchid - pink form of caladenia catenata
Stopped for a dyanella photo. This is a lot more - two weevills. A bit windy for photos. Took my time
Patience rewarded
Did find a dyanella that is not closing
Fruiting time for the palm
Getting to the end of mushroom time
Another pink form of caladenia catenata on the way back
Close up
Found one more catenata with some differences - carmine bands - caladenia carnea
Took a few angles to get his shot. What struck me were the curves. Top down photo just grabbed the light. This angle got the host fallen tree too
More hyacinth orchid getting ready.
Always good to get out on the bike to access the bush so readily
Headed up to bowling club for the monthly badge draw. Was busy - a sea of faces. Chatted with our neighbour over one beer. Did not win. Had a quiet bbq at home. Did talk with my brother-in-law, Paul. He turned 50 today which is just amazing. He was not expected to get past one. 49 years wrong that doctor was.
