Greetings to my friends at Hive and @geekzone – today I’m going to tell you about my experience repairing some computer equipment at the CBIT (Bolivarian Centre for Information Technology and Telematics), part of an educational institution in Aragua State.
It should be noted that this computer room is a van, equipped with ten Bit brand computers running the open-source Q4OS operating system; three of these computers would not switch on. As we received a notification from the Regional Coordination Office for Educational IT that a training session on the Sige system – the School Registration System – is due to take place shortly, during which data from the educational institutions in this municipality was recorded.
I also went to this location to carry out a check on the computer equipment; one of the faults that arose was that the operating system was incompatible with the monitor’s resolution. Several operating systems were downloaded from the Minions website, including a Debian system; then, using the Rufus programme, the .iso image was copied to a USB stick, but the system encountered errors and could not be installed. Changes were also made to the monitor’s connection, but it continued to experience problems and displayed error messages.
Meanwhile, there was another computer that would not switch on due to a faulty power supply; the power supply was therefore replaced, and once this had been done, the computer switched on and the problem was resolved. As for the other two computers, an attempt was made to change the display settings, but the options did not allow this to be done, and the default resolution – the one activated when the operating system was installed – remained. In view of this, the graphics card was removed, the contacts were cleaned, and it was reconnected; the computer then responded, resolving the problem.
I hope you liked it, see you in a next post.
