Tasting the Best Cachapas from the Andes at La Parrilla de Alejo [Eng-Esp]

Greetings, fellow food lovers! Welcome back to my blog. Today, I’d like to share with you an unforgettable dining experience at La Parrilla de Alejo. Come along with me, and I’ll show you around.

A family Sunday enjoying the best cachapas in Peribeca at La Parrilla de Alejo, a very special spot in the state of Táchira, Venezuela.

I love strolling through the streets of the beautiful colonial town of Peribeca. That day, while looking for a nice place to share a good meal with the family, we came across La Parrilla de Alejo (Restaurant & Asados). From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by a cozy, impeccable atmosphere with that characteristic Andean warmth that makes you feel right at home.

We came looking for the house specialty: the unforgettable cachapas. Although the restaurant is famous for its barbecued meats and grilled dishes, our main craving was this dish made with corn, queso de mano, and fried pork—an Andean tradition from days gone by.

1000593428.jpg

I love Andean cuisine, especially the traditional fresh, juicy queso de mano that melts with the heat and blends into the cachapa, accompanied by succulent pieces of grilled pork.

I loved the presentation of the dish—the cachapas served with a generous sprinkling of grated white cheese on top and a spoonful of fresh cream. It’s my favorite.

1000593441.jpg

The combination of the natural sweetness of the corn, the juiciness of the grilled meat, and the creaminess of the queso de mano was simply an explosion of flavors that exceeded my expectations. It had been a while since I’d tasted this culinary delight. Without a doubt, these are among the best cachapas in the Táchira region.

The service was extremely attentive and fast, which is much appreciated when traveling in a group or with family, especially with children.

The tables with checkered tablecloths give the place that rustic, homey feel—perfect for enjoying a leisurely Sunday meal. Dance music and a giant high-definition screen for videos. I’d describe it as a wonderful place. For me, it gets a 10/10 for service and traditional flavor.

So, my recommendation is that if you’re visiting Táchira state or planning a stroll through the beautiful streets of Peribeca, La Parrilla de Alejo is a must-stop for lovers of good traditional Venezuelan cuisine and meats.

We left with happy hearts and full bellies. Thanks for joining me on this tour for cachapa fans. See you next time. Bye!

Chao!
