Still Alive

I'm a horrible Hive community member lately. Yeah, I've been poking my head in and voting on a few posts. But haven't really been reading or engaging much. Am I sorry for it? Not really.

Been enjoying life offline more in the last few weeks than I have in a long time. Been getting out of the house. Fiddling and farting around in the yard. Still straightening up the garage. Finished up the shed. Working now on the basement. Getting out with the old vets again. Living life as it should be.

That and I'm still struggling through my online courses. Tons of reading, researching, and writing. That takes up a good chunk of my time too.

Also sleeping better. Not waking up at 3 AM and sitting up staring at the screen. Not sitting in a dark room at night alone with my shitty thoughts. Actually going to bed at a decent time and sleeping in to a decent hour of the morning.

Considering where my mental state was a few weeks ago, I'm doing much better. So much better. There were a few of you out there that were struggling too when I was. I hope you all are feeling some relief and getting out of the funk as well. Climbing out of the hole as I like to say.

Anyway, sitting here on a rainy Friday. Smells of sourdough whiffing through the house. Wife is baking lots of bread to take to some family for a get together next weekend. I get to stay home and babysit the dogs. Bachelor time! Just kidding. Honestly I get lonely after she's gone for a day. Will probably spend a good deal of time in the garage finishing it up and watching some movies on top of studying.

Sometimes stepping away from the screen is the healthiest thing you can do. Touch grass as the kids say. Reconnect with the real world. The people in front of you. The projects that need done. The life that's happening while you're scrolling.

I'll be back around more eventually. For now, I'm just checking in. Hope you all are doing well. And letting you know I'm still alive.

How are you doing?

  • I'm still surviving. I'm now a Hive Orca now, with training wheels until I get hang of being one. Same struggle with neurological issues. And always glad to see you here @coinjoe 🤗

  • Glad to hear, Joe. We are delighted to hear you're sleeping well. I take my sleep game seriously, I associate it with my overall wellness. Enjoy your time alone.. like you said, it's nice to miss each other. Take care.

It's great that you're doing well in your offline life. That's what matters most, after all.

I agree with you and I think it's phenomenal!! It is necessary to get away from the screens from time to time: cell phones and computers take up a lot of our time. Everything they are doing is in favor of having a higher quality of life, of feeling good. And as the song says: "If you're okay, we're all okay." Greetings, friend

Those loaves look lovely, prepping for Halloween? I have one in the fridge ready to be baked tomorrow. I'm happy if it's edible, getting my them to look like your wife's is my ultimate aim

Don't feel obliged to be active all the time, real life and your mental health is much more important. Take care!

Hello Hello Joe. Glad to hear you are getting out and about. I have been busy too offline and going to the States in a few weeks for Mrs T to see her family, so will be on and off here too!

Don't apologise. It's just nice to hear from you when you check in. Everyone supports your mental health above your Hive presence. Glad you are doing well X

Does the wife know how to update us if you can't? That's the hardest thing about Hive - when folk disappear for good (god forbid) and we don't know why.

    That bread looks amazing!!

Glad you're doing so well Joe and that you are back into life again. Getting sleep and enjoying fresh sourdough. I love sourdough! I hope you don't get too lonely without the wife around, but I'm sure your old vet buddies will help keep you company!

    Take care brother!

That's part of the reason I started taking weekends off. I still comment here and there, but I don't feel like I have to.

It's good to take breaks sometimes, and real life always trumps doing things online in my world. Glad you are feeling better. Things have been busy for us as always. Just moving into fall and actually I'm looking forward to seeing some leaves change color before long!

  • It seems that you are quite busy. But I am glad to heat that you are feeling better.

I am doing good as well. Just a bit sad that my favorite basketball team lost a few close games in euroleague. But me, my mother and our favorite neighbor are still alive so I can't complain.
