The European Thursday matches pretty much ended in a break-even operation but it's nice to have 5 Belgian Teams in the Europe group stage this season. Club Brugge in the Champions League, Anderlecht & Union in the Europa League and AA Gent & Stvv in the Conference league. Genk vs Beveren
Genk very much looks like the same team they were last season in that they have a young squad with a ton of technical quality but they at the same time are without chance defensively and super easily give goals away. Last week against Antwerp, they were up 1-4 and still gave it away somehow in the last 10 minutes for a 4-4 FT score. They also got 0-2 behind the week before against Westerlo (who are really bad now building a new team) but still managed to win 3-2, in the first week they also screwed up playing really passive after taking the lead to still ose 2-1. My main fear with them is that the coach might say "enough is enough' and just first think defense which comes at the cost of their ability to score. This is the exact scenario that happened last season. I also think Genk is a team that potentually will be fine still especially once the European matches start again since they have no load there. Beveren last week lost with a 4-0 score against Zulte which was an exagerrated score, the week before at home against a tired Anderlecht, they managed to scroe the 1-0 early and mainly just defended that gettig 12 corners against in that match but no goal. Their talk pre-match in the huddle and from the coach is always 'offensively oriented' but it isn't aways seen on the pitch. So for this one I would not be surprised for Genk to again be nowhere defensively and get a couple goals against but at the same time I also would not be surprised for their coach to lock things down at the cost of their offense creating a boring match. I never really oppose a team like Genk in a season where they have no European football as they systematically do well beating their handicaps during those. So I'm kind of leaning toward Genk and the over as I see it more likely for the trend to just continue on them getting a goal (or goals against). My main angle will be to back Genk on the team total corners over if they fall behind given how many corners Beveren got against when ahead against Anderlecht. Now,
