Jupiler League Week 4 Saturday Previews

These are previews from matches involving Belgian Teams with all the latest on team news, player form, and injuries along with my personal betting angles, ...

Genk quickly took the lead which made it a rather easy match for them and I only got in one tiny bet later in the match on the under as it was clear that Beveren didn't want a total punishment while Genk really wanted to make a statement taking a clean sheet. That ended in half a winner putting me still around break even on the week so far. I do notice that my focus can be better during the match so I will try to work on that today during the 4 matches...

La Louviere vs Kv Mechelen

La Louviere so far this season took 3 losses and in each of the matches staying under 1xg even though they managed to score against Anderlecht and AA Gent. In the first match away against Anderlecht they crawled back counting on their tall strong defenders to keep the clean sheet but eventually they failed. At home against AA Gent they took the more forward stat and were rewarded for it even though the goal was high efficiency. Their goalkeeper lost them that match with 2 blunders making it a flattering win for AA Gent. Against Standard it was a more open match then I expected but this time with very poor finishing. La louviere also took a red card in 2 of their matches. In all 3 they kind of could have gotten a draw which would not have been undeserved so they are running a bit below expectation. Based on what I've seen, I do expect them to want to take the initiative and go forward but the efficiency very much might be the key factor and that one is hard to predict as they showed both good and bad there. Kv Mechelen took a really poor start of the season and have quite some players injured. In the first match they simply were not ready yet and were weak losing deserved. In the 2nd match against Standard, they showed that they will keep fighting and came back from 1-3 down in a match where Standard always should have easily sealed it. Last week against Charleroi, they failed to create anything at just 0.23xg and deserved the loss as they clearly lack creativity. So overall, it was just bad accross the line and I don't see any reason for this to quickly change for them. They are also made the underdog here today which I understand and which also feels justified. I do expect a match where La Louviere will take the initiative willing to go forward and Mechelen to try on the counters more. The way the lines are set, my hands are pretty much tied. I kind of like the under but not at a 2.25 line and very much could be wrong on it. I do see la Louviere score but don't like the 1.25 line and I see Mechelen having a harder time to score more than once but do not like the 1 team total line. So basically I just force myself to stay away for now. No Pre-Game bets

Kortrijk vs Charleroi

Kortrijk did not play last week and so far have taken a 3-0 loss against Club Brugge and a 0-3 loss against Antwerp. Against Brugge they had a good 1st half where they could have scored but a bad 2nd half. Against Antwerp it was failry even with low overall quality from both sides and getting the 0-1 against somewhat had them shaken up. In the 2nd half poor finishing was once again the problem and when behind 0-2 they kind of went kamikaze style. So overall I would say not good enough with some sparks of hope also which is unlikely to shine trough for the entire 90 minuites. "They could have scored" is what my notes on both matches say and also that they are potentially just a bad team to oppose. Charleroi I did not expect much from, but 3 weeks in a row now I had to give them a very good overall score. I would say they gotten a bit lucky agaisnt OHL who took a red card, they played a mature match away against Lommel winning with a 0-1 very much deserved. last week, they also took a very deserved win at home against Mechelen. So this season they are with an 9 on 9 having played rather poor teams while helped with a red card also. I do see this today as a similar type match where they have a really good chance to continue the good streak they are on taking 12 on 12. The odds for me are just good enough to take 0.16 units on Charleroi -0.5 @ 1.973 which is kind of an insurance bet as I would prefer to back them somehow in-game at better odds or at the corners handicap in case they would fall behind. In kortrijk, the home team playing toward their fans or not is always quite a factor so I need to wait and see there how the toss goes.

Cercle Brugge vs Lommel

Lommel took a decent start as a newly promoted team with a draw, a loss against a better team, and a win against a really poor Westerlo last week. In the first weeks, it they kind of presented themselves as a team with difficulties to score but then last week, they managed to score 4 goals. Cercle was efficent in their first match taking a 2-2 agaisnt Standard. They created a 4.15xg agaist stvv scoring 3 goals which was an exagerrated number and the goals came because of poor defense (on both sides). Last week against Club Brugge they only lost by 1 goal and looked ok as they could have scored and should have gotten a penalty. The main statistic that stands out for them is that they managed to create 11 and 10 corners in their first 2 matches and went to at least 13 in all 3. Lommel got 12 against at home vs Charleroi. For me, all the lines are set just a bit too high on Cercle with a -1 handicap, the over 3 line with lower odds and the -2.5 home corners which only really works if it stays 0-0 of if Lommel scores first. The main bet that I look at is Cercle Corners Team total Over in case Lommel scores first. I'm also keeping an eye out on the over but need to see that confirmed first. Just the over corners total is also an option, but for now No Pre-Game Bets

OH Leuven vs Standard

OHL did not have a match last week and started the season a bit unfortunate taking and early red card against Charleroi while in the match against Club Brugge the fact that their coach was forced to choose the weaker goalkeeper screwed them. Aside from this, they actually showed quite some good signs and I expect them to be a more over team as they play with a lot of drive and high pressure trying to get quick to the goal of the opponent and if that leads to getting goals against so be it. Standard had (and still has) and easy schedule to start the season but they kind of screwed it up. They should have won against Cercle at home and the same thing happened against Mechelen with both those matches ending in a draw. They did manage to win at home against La Louviere and overall showed that they have potential this season. They still have a coach who is able to play defense and today a strategy of akllowing Leuven the ball to break out on counters might be a formula to success. So it's quite the tricky spot, as I think overall OHL could be the better team but the fact that they have still zero points and Standard who might match up well against their style keep me away. So I will just wait and see on this one before potentially taking some bets. No Pre-Game Bets
