Saturday was another ok day with one of the bigger bets that I had on Standard for the corners ended up winning. More action on Sunday and I hope to finish the week strong...

Cercle Brugge vs AA Gent

Cercle Brugge still is without a win this season. Last week they lost with a 0-1 score at home in a match which started as an open match with lots of cards and corners in the first half but with an issue to finish chances. Cercle used a lot of energy in the first half which came at the cost of the 2nd half where they were bad and lost it. They also got their chances in the away match against Club Brugge but did not finish. In week 2 it was the opposite as they had a very high xg mainly because of a horrible defense of Stvv in a match that ended in a 3-3 score. In week 1 they also did not create much but were efficient of their chances. So it feels like they either create quite a bit and have poor finishing or not create enough and have high efficiency. It is not that they have horrible form but when they are good they use too much energy which eventually backfires. AA Gent has been quite predictable in what they show this season which is solid in the defense but at the same time a lack in creativity in the offense. They had a mid-week match at home against OHL which was won by a goal that came after a OHL players slipped after wich the ball deflected twice and went in. Against Brugge they mainly just kept their discipline defensively being patient on the counter which worked getting them the upset win.The first half away against la Louviere ended in a 1-1 score but a 0.37-0.17 xg and eventually they won that match thanks to the goalkeeper of the opponents making 2 mistkaes. So basically for them they showed a consistent strong defense and actually got quite lucky on the offense to take 12 on 12 so far. The one things that they have shown to be reliable on though is their strong defense topping the xg against table at an average of just with just 0.51 after 4 matches. I did take 0.4 units on Under 2.75 @ 1.942 which I'm quite comfortable with. I also see more chance that the first half ends with no goals compared to 2+ so I took 0.1 unit on 1st Half Under 1 @ 2.140. I do expect a match picture where Cercle try and put a lot of energy again while AA Gent keeps their defense in order and tries to exploit the counter again. AA Gent hasn't shown good enough for me to back them on the handicap line.

Kortrijk vs Zulte-Waregem

Kortrijk currently is dead last with 4 losses and only 1 goal scored while getting 10 against. They had a mid-week match against Anderlecht and lost with 1-0 basically making 1 defensive mistake while not bringing anything offensively themselves. At home they can also do more and they were ok against Charleroi in week 4 but at the same time showed that they can't be trusted. The fact however that they lost 0-3 at home against Antwerp does say a lot and in fact they are one of the relegation candidates. In that match, they could have scored but had poor finishing. Against Brugge in the first week they also could have scored. So the overall verdict of Kortrijk in the first 4 weeks is that they are not good enough and a team to oppose still also now with possibly extra fatigue with the mid-week match. Zulte-Waregem has yet to lose this season. They took a fair 2-2 draw last week away against Westerlo, at home they crushed beveren with 4-0 in a match where they were better team not giving much away while being efficient in their chances. Away against Union they could have won and showed that they are an ok team. This is also a derby which almost always results in many goals. I feel like a clean away win possibly with multiple goals would be less of a surprise compared to Kortrijk all of a sudden taking a win. I split some bets on the visitors in this match and on the over. 0.084 units on Zulte-Waregem -1 @ 3.589, 0.1 unit on Zulte-Waregem Team Total Over 1.5 @ 2.060, 0.2 units on Over 3.5 @ 3.050, 0.1 unit on Zulte-Waregem 1st Half +0 @ 1.770, & 0.116 units on Zulte-Waregem -0.25 @ 1.979. Should be a fun match and I look forward to possibly take more bets in-game.

Anderlecht vs Genk

Anderlecht started the season strong in Europe but overall have shown to be not good enough in the league starting with 3 on 9 and only narrowly winning from Kortrijk in the mid-week with 1-0. They have a ton of new players and it needs to be see which of them are good enough to make it in the A-Squad. Anderlecht played a mid-week match and have the fatigue disadvantage. The fans also were not really happy with their performance coming off the match where they got totally dominated by Union. So I feel it is less likely that they reach the good form they at times showed in previous matches. I guess most of it will have to come from intensity again and it will be hard to keep that for 90 minutes. Genk started the season very shaky agains pretty much showing the same weakness in that they have a lot of players with technical quality but they remain so vulnerable defensively and it is hard to trust them. They did come out with a 4-0 win over Beveren last weekend where they managed to keep a clean sheet which also was mainly because of the opponent who was weak there so they for me are not at all out of the woods yet with their defensive issues and I see them getting goal(s) against. I do see this as somewhat of a 50-50 match, overall I see a bit more quality in the Genk team along with possible fatigue for Anderlecht, but at the same time it remains and away team and their defense once again might be vulnerable. I did take a 0.3 unit bet on Genk +0.25 @ 1.950 which falls just short of making it to an official bold selection. I do expect an open match with goals but the total line is not attractive yet.

Beveren vs OH Leuven

OHL had a mid-week match showing signs of improvement and mostly were unlucky to get a goal against in the most stupid way. The fact though is that they are in a very bad momentum with 0 on 12 and this usually doesn't just turn around like that. Beveren somehow managed to win at home against Anderlecht in week 2 but otherwise lost 2-1 against Antwerp, 4-0 agaunst Zulte away which was an exagerrated score and 4-0 away against Genk in a match where they were not crawling back. They are a team to oppose away against good team but so far only had 1 home match which they managed to win. They are ranked at the bottom of xg created so far at an average of just 0.75 while they are worst in xg given away at 2.25 on average. I do feel like this one is somewhat of a coinflip that could go both ways and took only 0.12 units on OHL +0.25 @ 1.970
