After a long wait, my son's birthday is already happening. As his parent, I feel like I'm the one who's really excited, haha.
It's 1:00 AM and everyone is really busy preparing the ingredients for cooking catching ducks and chickens, since those are the only things we're serving the guests. Each one has to be slaughtered, plucked, butchered, and cleaned.
They were cooking adobo, duck with pineapple, afritada, Bihon, Spaghetti, Maja Blanca, and chicken with banana pith. Actually, it was my sister and sister-in-law's who prepared the spaghetti, Bihon, Maja Blanca, and biko; they helped us with all the cooking.
As for the lechon, my father is the one who cooks it, turning it over and over so it doesn't burn.
My husband and my brother are working together to transport the things we need hauling chairs and tables, picking up the ice cream tub, and carrying water jugs, videoke machine and cases of pepsi. Since we are located in the middle of a rice field, everything has to be hauled in.
It was time to sing "Happy Birthday" to him and blow out the candle on the cake. My son was really happy while we were singing to him, and everyone was delighted by him, too haha. He even touched the icing on his cake and ate it. Hahaha
After lunch and handing out the loot bags, I planned to organise some games but all the young guests were too shy to join in so, I just ended up giving them the loot bags which were filled with snack and candy instead. Haha
Some of our guests are drinking while singing karaoke—singing karaoke is one of the things Filipinos love to do during special occasions, haha. They sing and dance late into the night, especilly once they get a bit tipsy. Haha, my son enjoys dancing along, too.
Seeing my child happy on his birthday is a parental achievement. I am also delighted that our preparations turned out successfully. I am truly grateful to everyone who attended and celebrated with us, especially those who helped make the even a success and gave gifts. I really felt that my son is special to them, particularly to my family.
