¡Hola hermosa comunidad TopFiveFamily!
Hello, wonderful TopFiveFamily community! I’m so happy to say hello and participate in the [TBT Contest: One Photo, One Story, One Thursday—October 22](https://peakd.com/hive -192096/@lanzjoseg/tbt-contest-one-photo-one-story-one-of-those-thursdays-october-22) that @lanzjoseg so kindly invites us to join every Thursday. This time, I’m sharing some memories from my last trip to Puerto la Cruz. Two of my aunts came to my mom’s house to spend a few days with her, but one of them needed to buy a water pump. I told her that they were expensive here in Cumaná and that the best prices were in Puerto la Cruz, so overnight we planned a trip to that city to buy the pump. We asked one of my uncles, who lives there with his family, to put us up, and we set off on an adventure with several stops along the way. We left the Cumaná bus terminal and headed to the town of Santa Fe, which lies on the border between Sucre State and Anzoátegui State, and from there we took another minibus that dropped us off at the Puerto la Cruz terminal. My uncle’s wife came to pick us up, to take us to their house. When we got there, my cousins were there; they were very happy to see us. Later, my uncle—my mom’s brother—arrived and invited us out for a walk as a welcome gesture to celebrate our arrival. I had never been to my uncle’s house before, since they had just moved into the building, so this gave them the opportunity to To see his house and since he’d come home early from work, we all hopped in the car and went sightseeing, stopping by the market on the way and then taking a little drive. That’s how we ended up at the top of Cerro del Morro—I’d never been there before. “What a beautiful sight!” What beautiful views you can see from there! Everything is so lovely—the ocean, the entire bay of Puerto la Cruz is visible from there; it’s all absolutely gorgeous. So the five of us enjoyed those views for a while, took pictures, and chatted. Then he took us to the ruins of a castle located toward the back of the hill—what a beautiful sight! People were paragliding, and there were several flying in that area, and I was going crazy taking pictures. but it was spectacular—we took photos at the castle ruins. Then we went down and took a stroll along the beaches; they aren’t really my thing, but there were tons of people—since it was the weekend, lots of folks were enjoying the beaches, some swimming in the ocean and others at the local restaurants along the roadside. There was a lot of foot traffic because it’s a pretty touristy area. In this photo, the five of us were joking around; they were calling me a “journalist who just keeps snapping photos,” and I was teasing them back, because I remembered that on Margarita Island, back in María Castaña’s day, there was a photographer named Sabiñac—he was a very famous photographer on the island—and there was a saying that went: “And Sabiñac snaps, he snaps photos,” so I was just like him. So we had a really great time; we enjoyed a moment together, talked about ourselves and the family, and took the opportunity to say many things that sometimes go unsaid because of the distance. It was a very enriching and meaningful time for the members of this family… I hope we can do it again soon.
