Switchbacks to Bertha Lake

DSC00740.jpeg

After tackling several switchbacks, I was making good progress on my way to Bertha Lake. By this time the afternoon temperature was hitting its peak, and the heat was making things somewhat tougher, but still manageable. At times it felt like walking through a tropical jungle. Good thing I packed several bottles of water to get me through. The overall hike to the lake takes us up about 500 metres in elevation gain. This one was on track to be decidedly tougher than yesterday’s hike to Lineham Falls (last July). Thanks for stopping by.

That really is so lush and green. Amazing how nature bounces back after fires! It looks like an awesome hike! Beautiful shots too, although the first one is the show stealer today. I liked that one a lot!

    And weekend plans?

  • What a strange plant is in the center of the last picture. What is the name of this plant? I have never seen anything like it

500 metres of elevation gain in the midday heat with a Sony on your back is a serious workout! I usually lean toward colour for nature, but the B&W version of that mountain bowl with the two tall pines in the center has insane contrast. Did you end up preferring the B&W or colour set from this hike?

The places you visit always leave me in awe. The first image is truly stunning.

  • I’d love to walk through a place like this, with all these trees—haha! We don’t have anything like this back in my country, lol. By the way, great shot of the place! 😍

What a thrilling mountain trip! Climbing along the winding mountain paths in the midday heat must have been quite arduous.

The nature is amazing. Each time I see your photographs, I feel a little jealous and I want to visit there to enjoy the beauty of it.

    I really like your photographs.

The landscapes are amazing, and the shots are brilliant. And seeing them in colour and black and white makes them twice as impressive.

Great work, you’ve got a good eye!

natural color always add a original perspective to the nature, however black and white give a different aspect to the place. they both looks beautiful.
