In his semi-retired life from the U.S. army, late of Special Forces, late of Judge Advocate General, with just a touch of Black Ops, Col. H.F. Lee served as a police captain for Big Loft, VA's police force … and he had a reputation.

“Listen,” the head of a state crime syndicate said to another, “don't send anybody to Lofton County. Your people are NOT READY for Henry Fitzhugh Lee. He is the wrong policeman to have him get you on his Special Investigations docket. Ask me how I know – and get a load of what happened TODAY to one of our rivals!”

Said rival had security like no one else in his class of criminals. His own private army … almost his own private town, really. He never went out with this level of security, either.

When Capt. Lee was ready to get him, it made absolutely no difference.

“Listen, Lee is CRAZY, man. So, you can't get in alive to our rival – but our rival went out for a funeral – and Lee had himself made up and wheeled into the funeral room, IN THE CASKET … lay there through the viewing and the funeral … waited until his target was going around for the last view, and knocked him clean out from IN THE CASKET, got out, hauled him out, and got him into the police car before anybody could even realize the dead man hadn't arisen from the dead to do it! The man's security was just staring like anyone else: how do you kill a dead man? Yes – Smitty was there and he saw it!”

For Henry Fitzhugh Lee, this was just an easy day's work. He had once prepared himself for and summited the ninth highest mountain in the world … but, that matter is still classified.

I always enjoy your little pieces. They trigger the imagination quite nicely.

This is for an older daily prompt? Am I missing something or have they not posted one on the past few days?
